The Rainmaker

The Rainmaker (The Family Creed #2)
by Shauna Allen

It is sad, emotional, fun, loving read, filled with normal day to day life of losing one you love and trying to move on. The not knowing is killing this family but somehow someway they find the strength to move on never forgetting The Dove that touched them so deep in her short life. They spend years wondering, looking for answers but never getting them. Each family member is going through their own hell but still moves on with their day to day life. Here you will read Levi’s story he has had his own pain and loss besides losing his baby sister he lost his one true love, marrying another only to lose his son, with nothing there to hold the marriage together he lost his wife. Now years later his past meets his future bring back the one woman he truly loved. His past has changed him into a man so far from the easy going lucky man he used to be. What you see now is a man driven to make money, a mover, shaker in the business world, never looking back the pain is still too real. With Harper back in his life he is going to have to face the demons from his past.

What a great addition to this series, the author had me in her palm with the first book and this one was no different. Clair is never far away as we get closer to the truth of what happened to her it becomes very emotional and heartbreaking leaving us with more questions and few answers. I and the family feel that she is dead but there is still hope that she may be alive out there in this crazy world. The author gives us drama that held my attention, making me want to read The Dove waiting to know what happened, but this is Levi’s story which holds its own interest and entertainment. Here we see a broken man watching one of his brothers finding true happiness and another family member having a child which brings back memories he has been trying to outrun. At the same time he must face how things ended with Harper and bring closure to that part of his life.

Levi is strong, but weak, he is man with dreams but has lost so many. He is a ticking time bomb ready to blow his top, he has so much pain pinned up inside which shows just how strong he really is that he hasn’t let go. Harper is a caring loving woman who knows what she wants but knows how to give the space Levi needs. As their past come to light your heart breaks for each of them. There are some very emotional scenes that will bring tears to your eyes. I wanted so bad to give them both support, grabbing them holding them tight. It isn’t all sad the author gives you lots of laughs in a story that is very entertaining and holds your attention from start to finish. I just love the energy Harper has she is so full of life making those around her smile and laugh. She has known true pain and sorrow but has grown to be an amazing woman. Between these pages you will find a family filled with love, and pain that supports the other but gives them space as well as they go through what no family should.

Bottom line this is a series you don’t want to miss filled with so much it will break your heart, but they will make you laugh, chuckle and want to cry for all they have gone through. They are strong, demanding but gentle and caring. It is a story that will stay with you as you live their journey seeking answers to the unknown and finding a reason to live a life without their dearly beloved sister. It is a story filled with hot steamy passion, the love scenes are wonderful. You are going to need to things why reading this book tissues and a fan. This will be a series I will read again and again filled with wonderful characters and a plot that will pull you in.

Summary
~ Five brothers, one family tragedy, untold heartache. ~

The world callously moved on when my sister disappeared without a trace ten years ago.
My life—my family’s lives—froze in grief that torturous summer day.
My soul crumbled completely, a few years later, when I buried my son.
I survive the agony by hiding it neatly beneath my businessman façade and all the accolades that money can buy.
But Harper Devlin is my Achilles heel. The one who got away . . . with my broken heart.
Now she’s back and as irresistible as ever.
I shouldn’t want her. I can’t have her. But I need her.
And she needs me. I may have to conceal all my wounds just to survive being around her again, but I’m willing to do it to help her build her dreams and her business. It’s what I do. It’s what I know. I’m damn good at it.
My name is Levi Creed.
I am the Rainmaker.

***Reader note: This is the second of a 6-part emotional family saga series. Each story is 100% male first-person point-of-view, and while each full-length novel is guaranteed to have a complete HEA romance, their family mystery remains unsolved until the end of the series.
***Due to profanity and very strong sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18

Tessa wants more out of life than to be someone’s wife who is there to make her husband look good, never having a mind of her own, living with a boring man who is just out to make a name for his self living it up with party after party. She wants a man who truly is a man one that doesn’t mind a women being a women with a mind. She has gone through all the men in her town and fines them lacking, she sees an ad for a mail order bride which seem exciting. When Deans brother tells him about the mail order bride program Dean laughs and said sure why not. His brother write for him, when a letter comes back they are both shocked to get a reply. Dean wasn’t even serious but his brother was. Dean is great at a lot of things but writing and telling about his feelings has never been one of his strong points. He agrees to let his brother write back to Tessa, of course he reads her replies and tells his brother what to write with his brother adding more in detail of things a woman might like to hear which will cause trouble down the road. Dean likes what he sees when he meets Tessa as times goes on he finds he is very attracted to her never guessing he would feel this way about another women. They write back and forward getting to know each other and agree to meet.

They have their ups and downs as they learn to talk, and deal with day to day issues. Most day’s things are more down than up leaving Dean confused as to just what Tessa wants or expects. She sure does know how to beat a dead horse.

Westward Dance
My heart really went out to both Madelyn and Seth both are about as broken as a person can get. Maddy is attacked by a trusted friend and Seth fell and broke his leg as it turns from bad to worse not knowing if he will even be able to keep it much less walk or ride again. The family set about match making getting these two together both writing back and forth they get to know each other. Things really takes off when Seth goes and stays with Maddy’s family why he gets his leg taken care of. The story doesn’t end there, their love grows but things get in their way and it is a pretty rocky road for a time. It is a story of pain, sorrow, love, needs, wants, and compassion.

Westward Bound
I am not sure I would call this was a mail order bride story since the two met once at the sisters wedding and wrote to each other keeping in touch. They kept me smiling and laughing at these two get on each other’s nerves trying to get the best of the other. With the conflict between daughter and father Claire decides to move out west with her sister.  She is tried of not being good enough like a son would be. Things happen that will help them both if they marry. Claire has always loved Marcus, but he isn’t too crazy about her. Their back and forwards mail is truly entertaining and will have you laughing.

J. Scott Bennett did a wonderful job of narration he put feeling into the audio. His voice is very powerful, clear and pleasant to listen to. There are no background noises or any volume changes His tones are very even he never leaves you guessing how the character feels. He gives you a very clear rich audio that you do not want to put down. The male voices are as pleasant as his female voices. You never have any trouble knowing who is talking or just what is on their mind. He uses the correct tones with each character just as I pictured them to be. He chuckles when he needs to or shows sorrow through his voice. I really enjoyed his voice and could listen to it all day with no problem. Mr. Bennett has become one of my favorite narrators I know when I see his name I am going to be taken away and truly enjoy the listen.

The author gives you a delightful set of stories that keeps your attention why she pulls you in with a few shocks along the way. The plot is great as the author brings the west of long ago to life giving you a story of so much pain, misunderstanding, sorrow and so much love. I loved the twist and turns she brings keeping you guessing at some things and other times you know just where she is going. It is a believable story that I bought into from the start. The characters are great, fun, caring and loving. I am really enjoying this series each one better than the last as I get to know each character better. All the ones you loved in the first books are back in this set, it was great to see them again, seeing how they have grown and the changes they have made. I can’t wait to see what the next story holds for me.

Claire O'Connor is the youngest of the three O'Connor sisters. Unlike her older siblings, Claire doesn't have great skills in social niceties. Even though she tries to fit in, Claire will never be popular in the elite world in which she was born. When she travels to Montana for her sister Maddie's wedding to Seth Samuels, she meets the youngest Samuels brother, Marcus.
She's attracted to his dark good looks and flashing gray eyes, but knows he thinks of her as an annoying kid who happens to be extremely intelligent. During the time she spends in Montana, she and Marcus develop an antagonistic relationship, which Claire purposely fosters to hide her crush on him. She dreams of snaring Marcus' heart one day, and begins her secret mission as soon as she arrives back in Pittsburgh.

The Executioner

The Executioner (The Family Creed #1)
by Shauna Allen

This is the start of an emotional journey that has a lot of question with few answers. One family torn in two over the lost of their sister rebuilding their life but never getting over the loss. One minute she was out with friends the next someone picked her up in a blue truck, and she was gone. There are a total of six books each about one of her brothers, book six will be her story. The Executioner is the start of a very emotional story going through the lost of their sister, the clues to where she might be and the hunt to bring her home one way or another. We meet Asher, learning how his life is as he goes through the loss of his sister. He decided to leave home and join the military where he got hurt. Deciding to come home and guard prisoners they put him in as one of the executioner which is his biggest duty. Everything is day to day until Genevieve comes along pushing her way into his life talking about one of the prisoners that just got executed from there she pushes into the life of his sister. He isn’t to trusting she isn’t giving in and slowly they build a relationship. She has a past which comes to forces and hits her hard. These two learn to lean on each other being the rock they never knew they needed.

The narrator does a wonderful job of narration, he pulls you in using his tones letting you know who is talking, what they are feeling and all the emotions that comes with it. He makes each Creed brother sound sexy, but showing you the pain they are in and the chip they carry on their shoulder. His character voices are very becoming but at times I felt he paused to long. There are no background noises, no volume changes, and no repeating of words. The audio is very clear and clean making you buy into this story and the emotions it brings with it. The sex scenes are very hot making you want to jump right in and grab each brother. Ladies you will need a fan when you listen to this hot sexy voice. His normal voice is very pleasant and appealing. Each character voice pulls you in, he adds just enough emotion to the pain and sorrow as well as the humor. I really enjoyed listening to this audio and will listen to it again.

The story is based on Asher and Genevieve but goes into depth of the lost of his sister and the hunt that is about to go on trying to find her. Both stories are very touching and emotional with a happy ending to a point, there is still the unanswer question of what happened to their sister. We met the whole family and come to love them. Each character has their own endearing ways as each one takes a place in your heart. I can already tell somewhere in this series I am going to have a box of tissues. From the first book the author reached in making me a part of this story and this family. I already have an invested interest in the outcome and to see how each other the brothers will overcome the issue and loss of their sister. This has hit this whole family very deep as well as the reader.

What I really liked about this story is the strength the family has, each has their pain and sorrow, but they are a supportive family that have held together and grew but still hold so much pain and sorrow inside them. Asher is learning and is one step closer to finding what life is all about but first he must get over Genevieve wall. Because of her past she has learned not to love, nothing good comes of it and never plans to marry. Watching their love grow, how unsure they are, how they make each other feel, as well as watching them play and get to know each other has been a pleasure. Watching the whole family pick and tease each other is been so much fun, I loved the humor and how the family interacts. I loved how strong and forward Genevieve is when she meets Asher and really blows him away, talk about knocking him off his feet. The love scenes are hot, steamy and very sexy with true emotions and a little kink. Asher has no trouble rocking your world as the sex appeal comes right off him. But it comes off Genevieve as well. Yes it is truly a heartbreaking story but a wonderful romance where two people learn what love is and just what it means. My heart goes out to all the Creed family as well as to Genevieve who lost so much at a young age and still has to come to grips with it.

When you open the book what you find are some hot Creed men with a chip on their shoulders, they have wants and needs but just don’t know it yet. It is going to take one heck of a woman to fit their bills. The women are on the way to knock not only some sense into them but rock their world like they have never seen before. What a way to start a series with the hottest couple so far in the winning lead. I really am going to enjoy these men getting a taste of their own medicine. This series so far is a big win for me, I can’t wait to see how the author take it. The mystery of the unknown pulled me in, I am really excited and scared to read The Dove, the author can take this so many ways. She knows how to pull her readers in giving a story that holds your attention entertaining you with a book you won't be able to put down.

Summary
A stray bullet ended my Army career, forcing me to follow in my father's prison guard footsteps. My sister's disappearance 10 years ago annihilated my family, forcing each of us to find a way to cope. But I've survived. Adapted. At least, until Genevieve Stone showed up, digging into the truth in the name of journalism and finding her way deep under my skin. I'm determined to do whatever it takes to find my sister, but when the case is blown wide open by the sexy reporter, I'm left with the ultimate question...can I trust her?
I'm a soldier, heart and soul. I don't do love. War and death and pain are my church. My name is Asher Creed. I am the Executioner.
Listener note: This is the first of a six-part emotional family saga series. The first five novels are 100 percent male first-person point-of-view. Each of the first five full-length novels are guaranteed to have a complete HEA romance, but please note that their family mystery remains unsolved until the end of the series.
Due to profanity, mild violence, and very strong sexual content, this book is not intended for listeners under the age of 18. Also, please note the title. The hero is, in fact, an executioner on death row. While there is no intent to make any social or political statements, please do not listen to this if this will be offensive to you.

This Wilderness Journey

This Wilderness Journey
Heart of the Mountains, Book 2
By: Misty M. Beller
Narrated by: Leonor A Woodworth
Series: Heart of the Mountains, Book 2
Length: 5 hrs and 42 mins
Unabridged Audiobook
Release date: 04-20-18

This is a cute read I had to chuckle when Joseph went to pick up the minister cousin and found out he was a she. I had a blast picturing in my mind the look on his face. Joseph has spent his life helping others giving so much of his self. He had an accident that the author gives such vivid details I felt a chill go up my spine. My mind just doesn’t wrap around what that must have been like, not knowing if you would live, deciding if you should cut off a body part. He lost his faith in God that day and just hasn’t been able to find it. This is a very emotional and spiritual read that really touched my heart. Monti words keep going through my mind be the man God made you to be not what you think you should be. No truer words have been written. It’s a story about looking past your disabilities or the ones you think you have learning to accept who you are, knowing you are no less of a person no matter what you have been though. The story is built around lost in so many ways, to finding yourself, there is danger, excitement, romance, and so much more.

Ms. Woodworth’s narration with her soft sweet voice really brought this story to life. She made me feel each lose, sorrow and pain. Her character voices are outstanding her female so soft but strong, her male strong but weak, both caring and loving. You can hear the pain, sorrow, anger, hurt along with excitement, danger and thrills. I had no trouble picturing the events as they unfold. This was one audio she held me in the palm of her hand with true emotion that each character was going through. I was so invested I forgot I was listening and found things to do around the house to listen longer. Her tones are right on the mark keeping the listener on the edge as danger gets near. It was a thrilling, exciting listen. The danger is real, I felt like I was there with the characters. There are no volume changes, no background noise or any repeating of words. If any breaks were taken I could not tell. I had no trouble knowing who is talking and what they are feeling. Her character voices are just great as well as her normal voice is very pleasant and easy to listen to. You can feel the uneasiness of the characters as they work through the emotions of loss, facing the outcome and the heart break of the past. Ms. Woodworth’s has no trouble pulling of this very emotional listen that captivates you and holds your attention.

So far out of this series this one is my favorite. I think the author out did herself giving a very powerful message along with a very detailed story that kept me very entertained. There was a time or two when I think my heart stopped beating for a minute and others where I smiled and even wanted to cry at the true emotion that was written. This is so much more than a romance it is about faith, overcoming issues and finding what you want out of life and going for it. I loved the characters, how the story is laid out and the true meaning behind it. From start to finish I was hooked can't wait for the next one.

Summary
Joseph Malcom has spent his life protecting those in need, but now that his sister is safely settled with her new family in the Canadian Rockies, his help is no longer required. That is, until he’s asked to safely retrieve the priest’s cousin to help minister to the local Indian tribe. But his passenger is not at all who he expects.
After the death of her mother, Monti Bergeron has nothing to keep her in Montreal. While the prospect of ministering to the Indians out West is daunting, she looks forward to assisting her beloved cousin in his mission work. The life of a nun may be just what she needs to heal her grief, serving her Heavenly Father and fellow mankind, especially if no more pesky suitors are around to ask for her hand in marriage. But the man who’s been sent to guide her through the mountains might make her second-guess her plans before she even begins.
As Monti settles into her ministry, Joseph finds his wandering feet drawn back to the Indian camp. Monti’s focus on God is more unsettling than he’d like to admit. Add to that her beauty which tests his willpower at every turn, and she’s made it crystal clear she doesn’t want a husband. But when his determination to keep distance between them puts Monti in danger, protecting her might require something Joseph might not be able to give.
