A Brother's Betrayal:

A Brother's Betrayal: Mail Order Bride Tales
by Sylvia McDaniel

What a heartbreaking story one brother deceives the other and steals his bride. The bride and groom to be, have such big dreams, she wants a man like her father, he wants a woman who won’t scream and run for the hills when she looks at him. What they get is so different leaving one man broken hearted and the woman devastated. Kane is a man that I started to like but it didn’t take me long to want to but my foot where the sun doesn’t shine. Oh he has his reasons, good ones to him, for treating his family the way he does.  Emma and Abel do not know that they were ticked, it was easy for Kane to trick them from the way the letters are written. I understand why he did it but I don’t like it and even like him less. What the author brings to the reader is a story that is heartbreaking and at times very painful not only for the characters but the readers. It was such a great read I couldn’t put it down and even said a few bad words.

Emma is such a sweet woman who steals your heart, Abel just steals your heart from the first page. As they get to know each other they find they fit well together but both know that can never be, marriage is until death. I would have been willing to help them with that and most likely have done it with a smile.

The author knows how to draw you in giving a very emotional read with many twists and turns you won’t see coming. Oh it does end with a HAE and I was so relieved when it came. Well written with wonderful characters that captive me from the first page. The plot is wonderful making me wonder just how many times something like this has happen long ago. The book was wonderful, delightful, just am outstanding read. I totally loved it.

This was not easy for her since she has been a spoil little rich girl, finding out she must learn to cook and clean is a little more than she can take. Clement is a little surprised too when he finds the woman he thought he was getting isn’t the ones he got. It is a trying time for them both as they learn not only to live together but to love each other. This is a sweet clean fast listen that holds your attention.

Ms. Kelly’s narration is outstanding she really pulls you in with her tones and voices with real emotions as she goes through the paces the author gives. She really bought this story to life making it very easy to picture the scenes, There were no repeat of words or any changes in volume, no background noises. You have no trouble knowing what each character feeling or who is taking. Her tones are right on the money giving a very in depth feeling of emotion. Her female voices are just as great as her males, giving an in-depth deep voice or a smooth as sweet sexy one. This is a very clean, clear audio that is very realistic that you almost feel like you are watching a movie. If any breaks were taken I could not tell. She really delivers a highly exciting listen that kept me spellbound holding my breath, laughing and so glad when the thrill is over.

The author gives you a wonderful story with a few twists and turns. There are even a few surprises, just as things are starting to work out there is news from her father which may break their relation. She must decide if she will tell her husband, what will she do? I really enjoyed the characters as I watched their love grow and all they deal with. The plot is believable and the author holds your attention.

Tabitha: Bride of Missouri

Tabitha: Bride of Missouri
American Mail-Order Brides Series, Book 24
By: Amelia C. Adams, American Mail-Order Brides
Narrated by: Meghan Kelly
Series: American Mail-Order Brides, Book 24
Length: 3 hrs and 49 mins
Unabridged Audiobook
Release date: 07-10-18

A story of starting all over where you started after trying to move ahead and losing everything you have worked for. Now Tabitha has to move back in with her cousin who isn’t always nice. It seems there are a few in her family that will have to learn a few lesson on life, love and happiness. It is a different kind of mail order bride story, one that is heartbreaking in so many ways. Here two people will meet one will fall helplessly in love the other already has a bride on the way. When things get a little complicated when one steps over the line and comes up with egg on her face. Her heart was in the right place, but she did the wrong thing. As the plot thickens how it can get any worse. I am so glad you asked because it does in more ways than one. I loved every word of this story from start to finish it truly was a great listen.

The narrator did a lovely job of narration, she really brings the story to life making you see a side of the story that you would not have seen reading the book. Her character voices are great, she puts a lot of power behind each emotion truly giving you a listen you get lost in. There was one place where wording was repeated but in no way does it take away from the story. Besides that if any breaks were taken I could not tell. It is a very clear and clean audio that gives vivid details you almost feel like you are there with the characters. Her performance was great, she pauses when she needs you, gives emotions that you can hear in her voice. The narrator pulled me in taking me away on a delightful journey I got lost in.

I really enjoyed the twists and turns the plot took, I also enjoyed how it was a mail-order bride story but with a twist that makes it a unique story. I didn’t really care for Tabitha cousin, but she has a lot to learn and learn she does the hard way. By the end my heart really went out to her. Tabitha tries her best to be a true friend to Thomas but gets herself in a mess of trouble. She is a very strong person and is way ahead of her time, trying to make her own way without a man. When she is pushed into a relationship she pushes back. Thomas is just a sweet heart to kind and good for his own good. He wants a bride and has picked her but there are a few issues that most likely will not only hurt him but his pride.

The author gives you a believable story that pulls you in taking you away to another time and place when things were not so easy and times were hard. People got married to people they didn’t love and sometimes didn’t even like. You will find a story inside a story here where a couple has to face some facts there just aren’t ready for. It broke my heart to watch them. I loved this story from start to finish and didn’t want it to end. From the narration to the author it was a story I couldn’t put down with a powerful message between the pages. I laughed, thought at times it was very funny and truly enjoyed watching the drama and messes these to make of their life. I am looking forward to listening more of the author and narrators work.

Westward Winds
Tessa wants more out of life than to be someone’s wife who is there to make her husband look good, never having a mind of her own, living with a boring man who is just out to make a name for his self living it up with party after party. She wants a man who truly is a man one that doesn’t mind a women being a women with a mind. She has gone through all the men in her town and fines them lacking, she sees an ad for a mail order bride which seem exciting. When Deans brother tells him about the mail order bride program Dean laughs and said sure why not. His brother write for him, when a letter comes back they are both shocked to get a reply. Dean wasn’t even serious but his brother was. Dean is great at a lot of things but writing and telling about his feelings has never been one of his strong points. He agrees to let his brother write back to Tessa, of course he reads her replies and tells his brother what to write with his brother adding more in detail of things a woman might like to hear which will cause trouble down the road. Dean likes what he sees when he meets Tessa as times goes on he finds he is very attracted to her never guessing he would feel this way about another women. They write back and forward getting to know each other and agree to meet.

They have their ups and downs as they learn to talk, and deal with day to day issues. Most day’s things are more down than up leaving Dean confused as to just what Tessa wants or expects. She sure does know how to beat a dead horse.

Westward Dance
My heart really went out to both Madelyn and Seth both are about as broken as a person can get. Maddy is attacked by a trusted friend and Seth fell and broke his leg as it turns from bad to worse not knowing if he will even be able to keep it much less walk or ride again. The family set about match making getting these two together both writing back and forth they get to know each other. Things really takes off when Seth goes and stays with Maddy’s family why he gets his leg taken care of. The story doesn’t end there, their love grows but things get in their way and it is a pretty rocky road for a time. It is a story of pain, sorrow, love, needs, wants, and compassion.

Westward Bound
I am not sure I would call this was a mail order bride story since the two met once at the sisters wedding and wrote to each other keeping in touch. They kept me smiling and laughing at these two get on each other’s nerves trying to get the best of the other. With the conflict between daughter and father Claire decides to move out west with her sister.  She is tried of not being good enough like a son would be. Things happen that will help them both if they marry. Claire has always loved Marcus, but he isn’t too crazy about her. Their back and forwards mail is truly entertaining and will have you laughing.

J. Scott Bennett did a wonderful job of narration he put feeling into the audio. His voice is very powerful, clear and pleasant to listen to. There are no background noises or any volume changes His tones are very even he never leaves you guessing how the character feels. He gives you a very clear rich audio that you do not want to put down. The male voices are as pleasant as his female voices. You never have any trouble knowing who is talking or just what is on their mind. He uses the correct tones with each character just as I pictured them to be. He chuckles when he needs to or shows sorrow through his voice. I really enjoyed his voice and could listen to it all day with no problem. Mr. Bennett has become one of my favorite narrators I know when I see his name I am going to be taken away and truly enjoy the listen.

The author gives you a delightful set of stories that keeps your attention why she pulls you in with a few shocks along the way. The plot is great as the author brings the west of long ago to life giving you a story of so much pain, misunderstanding, sorrow and so much love. I loved the twist and turns she brings keeping you guessing at some things and other times you know just where she is going. It is a believable story that I bought into from the start. The characters are great, fun, caring and loving. I am really enjoying this series each one better than the last as I get to know each character better. All the ones you loved in the first books are back in this set, it was great to see them again, seeing how they have grown and the changes they have made. I can’t wait to see what the next story holds for me.

Summary
The first three novels in the series that critics describe as "a wonderful blend of hope, passion, romance, and humor."
Westward Winds
Tessa O'Connor lives in a world of privilege and excess. Her doting parents want her to make a good match with a worthy gentleman and live a respectable life. She is beautiful and intelligent and she comes with a hefty dowry. There is no reason that she shouldn't be able to find an eligible man and settle down.
Tessa gets married to Dean and they struggle to find common ground and make their marriage work. Will they each take the risk and open their hearts to one another? Can their marriage survive, and will they find love and contentment in each other?
Westward Dance
Madelyn O'Connor is beautiful, popular, and comfortable with her opulent life. That is until she is brutally attacked by the son of one of the wealthiest families in Pittsburgh. Her parents are ready to fight the case out in the courts, but Madelyn doesn't want any publicity about it. She wants to forget that it ever happened, but can't.
Seth Samuels, Tessa's brother-in-law, becomes injured when he and his men are attacked by wild dogs on a cattle drive. He's morose and anxious over the prospect of not being able to participate in drives any longer. Tessa sees two people she loves hurting and thinks that maybe they can help each other when no one else can. She appeals to Seth to help convince Madelyn to come west. Seth refuses at first, but then figures that since he can't do much else, he might as well try to help.
Westward Bound
Claire O'Connor is the youngest of the three O'Connor sisters. Unlike her older siblings, Claire doesn't have great skills in social niceties. Even though she tries to fit in, Claire will never be popular in the elite world in which she was born. Claire would much rather be in school or learning business strategy from her father than do anything else. When she travels to Montana for her sister Maddie's wedding to Seth Samuels, she meets the youngest Samuels brother, Marcus.
She's attracted to his dark good looks and flashing gray eyes, but knows he thinks of her as an annoying kid who happens to be extremely intelligent. During the time she spends in Montana, she and Marcus develop an antagonistic relationship, which Claire purposely fosters to hide her crush on him. She dreams of snaring Marcus' heart one day, and begins her secret mission as soon as she arrives back in Pittsburgh.
