Accidentally Compromising the Duke

Accidentally Compromising the Duke (Wedded by Scandal #1)
by Stacy Reid

My Review
I have not had the pleasure of reading anything by this author. As a reader and reviewer I was pleased with this author and her writing style of giving her readers a very entertaining read. I got lost from the first few pages and could not put this down. One lady is on the marriage market for a husband her parents have pick one man she has picked another only the other hasn’t asked for her hand. A man who has loved deeply and lost promises never to love again, when he is put in a place of honor he offers to marry the lady but he will never love her. Can these two come together not only build a marriage but a love of a life time. Both have much to learn about love, happiness and marriage.

Adeline parent want her to marry the awful Edmond, she has no desire to after he overstepped his self. She wants to marry Mr. Artwood but he doesn’t seem to be in the same mind as she. Leaving little choice to find her own husband who must be a Lord or marry the abusive earl. I am sure you guessed which one way she went. Things didn’t go as easy as she has planned. Instead of going in the man’s room she wanted she accidentally ended up in the duke of Wolverton room and his bed. You can imagine how shock they both were. With the scandal breaking out she thinks she is ruined Edmond the duke of Wolverton who they say is a mad man comes forward offering to marry her.  She has little choice but to take him up on his offer. This is where things get really interesting.

Edmond needs a wife who will be a mother to his daughters. He will not give a part of his self to anther women after losing the love of his life in child birth but he will do his best to give his daughters the best mother he can find. Things do not go as he plans he thinks she will jump at the chance but the lady has other plans. You will have to read to find out just how things will go when two people who are very attracted to each other are in the danger of falling down the path of passionate and love.

I thought this was very well written with wonderful characters you can relate to in a time when things were not easy and one must play by the rules of society or face ruination never to be able to face those who judge you.  Poor Edmond is a man after your heart he has lost so much in return has lost his self. He has so much to give if he would only open his self up and let someone warm his heart. Adel has a way about her that opens a person up giving them meaning and a reason to wake up each morning.

Adel is my hero for standing her ground not giving in to her parents and their demands but going for what she wanted even if that was what she truly didn’t know she wanted. When things do not go as planned she takes that in stride and goes toward making the best of it but still standing up to her dreams.

The author gives you a well balanced story full of passion, pain, sorrow, dreams, wants and needs. You have some very heated steamy scenes full of sexual tension, the chemistry is powerful and strong.  This was a delightful read from start to finish giving the read everything a true romance has to offer. You will not be disappointed as this author takes you away making you wish you could be part of the story. I hope you pick this up and give it a read. I am sure you will be as impressed as I was by this author.

Pa's Last Request

Pa's Last Request (Montana Weddings #1)
by Robyn L. Ackland

My Review
This is a clean sweet read a book of Christian values as the author bring us a touching story of the word of God with a budding romance between old childhood friends who had a misunderstanding that tore them apart. Years later they are still not talking when Caylor’s father (Colt) has a heart attack he tells them he needs someone to leave the ranch to that the men will listen to and he would love to see his grandkids before he dies. His last request is for them to marry and give him grandkids to hold in his dying days.  Caylor does not care for this idea and fights it but gives in and tells them to plan it she doesn’t care what they do just to get it over with. Her father gave her the most beautiful wedding she has ever seen. She brought tears to his eyes when he saw her in her mother’s wedding dress.  When the groom (Stetson) sees his bride he is speechless.

Caylor is a sweet Christian lady who loves the ranch and will do anything to protect it. She fell in love with Stetson since she was very young they were the best of friends when one day she when she went to him and they talked. She didn’t like what he had to say turns to walk away and turns back drawing back her fist she hits him in the face. Her father was watching and dreaming about the day these two would marry. No one was more shock than he when he saw his daughter hit Stetson who has come to be like a son to him. From that day to this they haven’t seen eye to eye. No one has ever said what happen that day and she sure isn’t going to tell anyone. In truth she has love Stetson since he came to live with them and still does. He is always so unkind to her correcting her, being short tempered with only her and just truly unkind. She hates he will have to marry a woman he does not and will never love. She is willing to make this the best marriage she can for the love she has for her father she will do anything.

Stetson is a very well liked foreman he loves the ranch and Colt has become a father to him. He has one dream in life which is to undo the things he said to Caylor when she was 10 that left her not talking to him unless she had to until this day. He doesn’t want Colt to die but with the words he is telling him he is giving him the best treasure he has always wanted his daughter in marriage. Stetson has been in love with her since before he was 12 but a misunderstanding and peer pressure made him say the unforgiveable leaving him without his best friend and the love of his life. His one dream is coming true to make her his wife if only she loved him his world would be completes.

The author gives us a very believable story with an outstanding plot which is a touching read of two people who love but hurtful words got between them. Leaving one so mad that 5 years later she will not forgive or forget. The other wishing he could take those words back and tell others to take a hike. Colt is a delightful character with a few tricks up his sleeve. It seem more then Caylor and Stetson are hiding secrets. Colt has a few big ones that is going to take some explaining when they come to light.

I have read the other reviews on this story I do not see the typos and grammatical errors but these are not my strong points. I do believe I read where this has gone back and was edited by an editor. The only thing for me was that at times I thought to much information was given and at other times not enough. There were a few times I had to go back to reread a part because I was a little confused feeling a few less words would have been better. When this couple went on their honeymoon I was confused as to whether or not they had a true honeymoon night which later the author gives you a little on that. I didn’t feel the chemistry between these two at first you are about a quarter of the way through before you see the first true emotions they have for each other. It was at this point the book really took off for me. I thought this was a very touching read of a truly wonderful Christian family doing their best to live their life the way God would want them to.  I look forward to watching the author grow and learn in her writing skills. I feel sure in years to come she will have many fans following her and loving her work.

My Review
This story had me hooked from the first page, the ending will have you as speechless as it did me. The author gives you a wonderful plot going back from here and now to the past which is done very smoothly leaving you in no doubt about what is going on. You get to see how Aubrey and Josh’s relationship started from childhood friends, you also will understand why he is always so protective of her and she him. There will be no doubt in your mind these two loved and love each other deeply. There are so many twists and turn you will be running around trying to keep up. The author has a great brain process and is a very talented writer pulling her reader in and leaving your mouth hung open more than once. I loved this story but be prepared to have your mind blow right out of this world with this ending.

Teri Schnaubelt and Nick Podehl’s voices blend so well giving this a wonderful powerful listen with to wonderful narrators. The things that impressed me most were when they went from one narrator to the other. They sounded like they were in the same room there was no adjustments in the volume as there are in so many two part narration.  Both have outstanding voices that are smooth and pleasant to listen to with wonderful character voices leaving you in no doubt who was speaking and what emotion they were feeling. There are no background noises just a smooth and rich audio that you get lost in. If any breaks were taken you cannot tell it sounds as if the audio was finished at one setting.  Both narrators gave a 5 stars plus performance

Ms. Schenaubelt has a wonderful voice that I have come to love with rich and smooth tones, easily changing from one character to another. Her female voices are smooth and even (even though I didn’t like Jose’s mother the voice fit her to a T). Her male voices are deep and rich leaving you enjoying the listen as she takes you through each twist and surprise. She has a voice I could listen to all day from her sweet kind loving ones to her excited and scared one, along with her very powerful male voices where the character is over powering.

Mr. Podehl’s narration was wonderful this is the first time I have listen to him and I was not disappointed at all. His female voices are pleasant and easy to listen to. His male ones are deep as he puts lots of emotion in each voice. He has Jose down to a T with the scared young man not knowing which end is up or down. He really had me hanging on and feeling sorry for Jose.

For the story it’s self it was great and wonderful full of excitement, thrills, and even some chills. The twists and turns will have your brain going around in circles. The twists are so shocking you will have your mouth hung open more than once thinking wow oh my good lord never saw that coming. I was so invested in this audio I could not put it down finding things to do so I could listen longer. My heart truly broke for Aubrey and all she dealt with just how much more can this women take before she goes crazy and needs lock up. I even felt sorry for Josh knowing how he was pulled in and blackmailed into doing things he didn’t want to. The author had me in her hip pocket until the last few chapters when I stopped and looked around thinking what just happened. I have to say it was a little confusing and I felt it really didn’t go with the rest of the story. Had the author went back in the past as the character telling someone else what had happen I would have bought the whole thing. In this story the character is going back thinking about the past which does not work with the story. If the author was trying to keep the reader from guessing the ending she sure has done that. This story is worth a 3.5 to a 4 star for getting the read so invested you cannot put it down as well as for the thrills and excitement the author brings to the story. Still even with this ending I have to say it was worth the read just for all the twists and turns. The title fits the story so well for so many reasons once you read it you will understand lol. When you pick this up plan to be entertained from the finest as well as fool by a wonderful author who knows how to hold you on the edge and giving you a push over.
