Cop On Her Doorstep

Cop On Her Doorstep by Karen Docter

This book warmed my heart with such a moving and sweet story. This was truly an amazing story of facing fear, facing the past, and moving forward. Jake stands for everything Carrie fears and blames her past on, but can she  resist the feeling he provokes? Jake lives and breathes for his job and is not looking for a relationship, until he finds himself on the doorstep of his neighbor. But, can he get her to see past his job and see him?
Karen Docter has written a great story with characters you can't help but love, cheer on, and take on their emotions. This is the first book I have read from this author and it WILL NOT be the last. Her writing just pulls you in and makes you feel. I can't wait to read more.

The Mine

The Mine by John A. Heldt
Time travel and romance. What’s not to love about those two in a story, especially together? John A. Heldt took both to a new level in this extraordinary read, “The Mine”. This author really let his creativity show while writing this amazing story. It’s well thought out and written with pure talent.
I have to admit when I read this books description my interest was already peaked, but as I dove into the story it sucked me in completely. I enjoyed the time periods and the details put into it. The characters themselves are very enjoyable. If I could only use one word to describe myself while I was reading this book I would chose, absorbed.
It’s a must read for everyone who enjoys reading. Disappointment is the only emotion you won’t feel while reading this one.
I was provided a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Heartsong

Heartsong by Geri O’Neill
Heartsong is a book that pulled at my heart strings. I found myself laughing and crying at times. I became so wrapped up in reading this book that I had it finished before I knew it. Although the book did start out a bit slow, I stuck with it and wasn’t disappointed at all. The author made sure the reader could feel the emotions in the words written.
It’s a very well written story that packed a lot of emotion. The plot of the story is very well written and thought through. The author is very talented and I can’t wait to see what he comes out with next. I recommend this book to any reader who wants to feel the emotion the author puts into the words.

Caloun Sacrifice

Calhoun Sacrifice by Joe Mansour
is a very enjoyable read. It’s a faced paced novel and I really enjoyed reading it. It had a lot of action packed into it that I never knew what was going to happen next. The characters are so wonderfully written by the author that I couldn’t help but to feel as though I knew them by the end of the story.
I can’t wait to see what other great books this author comes out with. I was held by this book to the point I couldn’t let it go. Reading “Calhoun Sacrifice” was so enjoyable I have to give it five stars. I recommend that everyone add this book to their reading list and pick themselves up a copy so they don’t miss one of the best great reads of the year.

A Portal in Time by Claire Fullerton

A very captivating read. Claire Fullerton takes you on not one but two lovely journeys. I thoroughly enjoyed how these two stories, thus from two different time periods, flowed so well together. It was definitely a page turner that I did not put down. Both stories kept me wanting more, with the bond they shared and the suspense of what will come. I do have to say I wanted more at the end. It does not end with a cliffhanger, but I just wanted more, maybe I'm just greedy. lol

Widler: The Guardian Series by  G.K. DeRosa

5....10....20 - There are not enough stars for me to put on this little gem!!! I really haven't read much in the paranormal genre in about 2 years (it was my most favorite genre then) and this has definitely brought me back and reminded me what I loved about this genre. This literally has me addicted on the first page. This was one of those books that you want to read slowly because you do not want it to end, but end up reading it in one sitting because you cannot put it down. The author definitely puts it all in there - action, suspense, love, and amazing characters. The second I finished this I was stalking trying to find out when the second book will be released.

I received this book for an honest review.

Knocked Out by Julie Tetel Andresen

I can't get enough! I want more!! Every book in this series gets better and better. The characters are great. They are real and relatable. The story completely pulls you in from the very first page and grips you to the every end. Suspense - check Action - check Drama - check romance - check Julie Tetel Andresen has away of blending multiple cultures and backgrounds beautifully and making them all come together. The suspense alone will keep you turning page after page. Definitely an amazing read. This book can be read as a standalone, but I would highly recommend starting this series from book one to get the whole picture.

Into Thin Air

Into Thin Air by Marla Josephs

I had been looking forward to the sequel of Alexander Ranch, and it didn’t disappoint. In fact, I believe Ms Josephs has outdone herself with “Into Thin Air”. I found both novels very easy to read and when I had to leave them, found it extremely easy to pick up the story again.

This second novel in the Alexander Ranch series gets straight into the action, with the first kiss between Lela and Shane, a guy she has been admiring. A returning character Jordan, reappears in her life as Shane is kissing her, setting the scene for plenty of friction, which made me want to keep reading.

The background from the first novel Alexander Ranch is revealed early on, so it doesn’t leave you guessing – you can just get on with the story without trying to figure out what’s going on. There is a lot of suspense with the Alexanders turning to Lela to assist them with a case. Without giving too much away, there are good reasons for Lela to not get involved, but her sense of wanting to do what’s right, has her agreeing.

This case once again puts her in close quarters with Jordan, making it hard for her to decide how she feels about him, especially when Shane is still in the picture.

Strap yourself in for this one, with the twists and turns of the case at times overshadowing Lela’s relationship with Jordan, Shane and the rest of the Alexander clan.

Deep in the Night

Amazon
Deep in the Night: The Alexander Ranch Series #3
by Marla Josephs

After reading book 1 and 2 of the Alexander Ranch, the story just gets more and more interesting. Here we find dead dogs and humans, but there is no reasoning behind the deaths. The hunt is on to find who or what is killing them. This book takes us more into the relationship of Lela and Jordan as things heats up and gets very hot. Passion sure does fill the night for these two. There is the other man, Shane, who Lela has to work close with. Jordan isn’t too happy about this and things take a swirl twist and come to a head for them.

There's a nice balance between mystery and the building relationship between Lela and Jordan as she struggles to decide just how deep she wants their relationship to go. This is a well written paranormal mystery with a dose of romance and passion.

The author gives a well told story that is easy to follow as she takes us through the mystery of the supernaturals. I have really enjoyed this series and look forward to the next book in this series.

Under the Shadows

Under the Shadows: Alexander Ranch Series #4
 by Marla Josephs

Again, another completely addicting story!! I might even say this was my favorite. Lela and the Alexanders have to go to Costa Rica for an assignment and things get very interesting. Lela is excited to go, but leery also as her and Jordan are no longer together and will have to work together more than they have. Things really get a little uncomfortable when one of Jordan's exes is there to welcome them as well as will be helping with the case. Again I absolutely could not put the book down and damn anyone who asked me to lol. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Jersey Justice by Vinnie Sorce

That night—I still have nightmares. It happened so quickly, so effortlessly. Walking to our cars in the far parking lot one fall night, we were jumped from behind. Eric hit the pavement quickly with a gash on his head. Blood trickled down his ear and he was dazed. I looked up to see the attackers. One was a large Puerto Rican kid, over six feet tall, who had hit Eric on the head with a piece of pipe. Even in the chilly air, he was wearing only a black muscle t-shirt and jeans. An American flag bandana covered his head and a diamond stud decorated his left ear. A snake tattoo on his right arm completed the picture. His accomplice was an overweight black man of medium height with no distinguishing features. He wore a Yankees cap and a black leather jacket. His pants were riding low, and his boxers showed in the rear. I didn’t know what kind it was, but a gun of some sort was stuck in his waistband.

As they came at me, I just stood there, frozen. I wasn’t terrified like I thought I should be. My breathing was calm and easy, my eyes focused on the six-footer first.

I was angry.

I was sick and tired of the world being this way for me, and for others like me. It had finally become time to fight back. The attacker raised his club, but he was too slow. I kicked him in the knee and heard a loud pop just before he let out an ear-piercing scream and fell hard to the ground.

I grabbed for the club and gave his buddy some unexpected dental work before he could even reach for his piece. He dropped to his knees and then fell face first to the pavement unconscious.

I felt under Tubbo and removed his weapon. I’d never held a gun before. It molded to my hand like it had always belonged there. Suddenly—I felt like I should never be without it again. The feeling was overwhelming and calming at the same time.

Without thinking twice, I stepped behind my unconscious mugger and fired two shots into the back of his head. It was easy, no remorse at all. I couldn’t believe how simple it was. The Puerto Rican kid tried to get up and run on his shattered knee after he saw this, his eyes wild with fear. He didn’t get far. Two shots to the back of his head made it a very short trip.

What had I done?

Ths book is an organized crime suspense book that is nothing like I’ve ever read. If I could have given more than a five star review for this book I would have. This author kept me on my toes the entire way. It’s a very detailed story and I couldn’t help, but to love the plot. The characters felt so real to me, as a reader, that it was as though they could have been real people instead of characters in a story. This happened to be something that I found that I loved about this book. I felt as though I was there experiencing every page first hand.
Jimmy Vincent, one of the characters, happened to be another one of my favorite parts of the book. I absolutely loved him as a character in whole. The author is very talented as a writer, and I can’t wait to see what is next. This book is by far one of my favorite reads this year. I could see myself reading it again just to be pulled back into the story one more time.

This is a British Suspense Thriller. I must say that this book is one of my favorite in it’s genre by far. I absolutely loved reading it and am honored to have been asked to. Giving this book five stars was easy and I couldn’t have possibly given it a lower score. It had all the attributes a great suspense thriller should have and more.
The author, Derek Thompson, had me hooked from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the last word on the very last page. He is excellent in describing the characters and his wording made the story so vivid that it is out of this world. Twists and turns will keep a reader engaged waiting to see what happens next.
I can easily recommend this book and this author to any reader who enjoys a great page turning read that keeps the audiences attention.

It was entertaining and engaging. This was the first book in this series and the first I've read by this author. I really look forward to reading more from this author.

BROKEN PLAY (THE BIRMINGHAM REBELS BOOK #1) by SAMANTHA KANE
The Birmingham Rebels football team is basically the end of the line for many players, but new assistant coach, Marian Treadwell is trying to change that. She's also caught the eye of offensive lineman Cass Zielinski who has  plans for the attractive coach, hoping as well to draft his buddy, Beau Perez in on the action. These BFF's are attached at the hip and when they set their sights on Marian, it's game on.

While in college, Marian went through an unspeakable event that shapes her entire life. Being tossed aside by her football coach, father has given her the drive to prove to him she is much more than he thinks she is, and being given the chance to help coach the Rebels is an opportunity of a lifetime. When Marian realizes that Beau and Cass want more than to go by the playbook. Sure, these boys have a reputation for having a good time, but can they prove to Marian that what they want is something more than a passing fling?

Marian's deepest, darkest fantasies are a little kinkier than most and they begin to boil over when she realizes that Beau and Cass feed her needs to a T, but she is also a catalyst for Beau and Cass' coming to terms with their relationship. Not only do they take care for each other when the going gets rough, they truly care for each other in a way that Marian understands. Relationships are hard enough when it comes to a couple, but bring in a third party and there is a whole lot going on. Cass really wants their relationship to work, but Marian is holding back and until she lets go of the past, she will never be able to commit to what all three inevitably need.

As a reader who first of all reads very few contemporary romances, and knows nothing about the sport of football, I was pleasantly surprised when I delved into BROKEN PLAY by Samantha Kane, who is also one of my favorite historical authors to date. I adore the fact that Marian loves football and is doing a job she is passionate about. That is my primary draw to her, along with the fact that she came though a horrible crime and instead of losing herself, she triumphs over her adversity. Cass and Beau are two pretty sexy alpha males who are hard to miss and easy to fall for. The men play so well off each other, their camaraderie is infectious. I enjoy the fact this book takes place pre-season so the reader has a chance to get to know the ins and outs of the Rebels. BROKEN PLAY is a sizzling read that should not be missed.
