One Hot Summer

One Hot Summer (One and Only Texas #1)
by Melissa Cutler

My Review
We start off with Remedy the new Briscoe Ranch wedding planner on a chase trying to keep the wedding going with no bumps in the road. This seems to be a problem of hers since bumps seem to follow her everywhere she goes. Oh the humor and we are just getting started. I found this to be a very funny read at times as the author brings you the first of her new series. Things seem to go from bad to worse for this Hollywood royalty as she starts over trying to get a new start so she can go back home with her pride in tacked. She has loving parents which at times overstep themselves with helping her. When on an escape to get away from the long day of a disaster wedding she goes for a walk meets some new people and has a run in with Micah who she names Alpha Bubba. Sparks fly from the start when they try to out best the other. This is really a very funny part as they bait each other back and forth. Walking away she thinks she has one up on him until she finds out Alpha Bubba is fire chief who is about to turn her world upside down in more ways than one.

I liked Remedy in a lot of ways she is down to earth I did get the feeling at some point she was more of a snob and guessing when the scandal started  along with the move she changed her ways. Leaving Hollywood behind her she makes her way doing what she does best planning wedding and having one disaster after another which is driving Micah crazy. This is a character you will enjoy as she makes you chuckle keeping you entertained. You will not believe the messes this girl gets into.

Micah wow what a lovely wonderful sexy alpha male who takes your breath away. Just as Remedy is driving him crazy he is driving her nuts. He does stick to the rules and stands his ground even when Remedy turns his head. His easy going life is over as he tries to keep up with her and tries to keep her out of trouble. He has always had one rule for him and his men they DO NOT date or have anything to do with any employees at the Briscoe Ranch. This is one rule he is going to have trouble keeping she might drive him nuts but he sure would like to get his hands on her in all her nice round places.

I thought this was a cute funny read with meaning with good old down to earth Texas people. I loved these funny characters that enjoy picking and teasing. This was a delightful refreshing read watching Remedy get in to mess after mess which truly wasn’t always her fault. Seeing the sparks fly between her and Micah was highly entertaining. I thought this was a great plot with wonderful characters and supporting characters. Sometime finding a place to belong is just around the turn it isn’t always where we thought it was. Remedy never really fit in anywhere thinks she might have found it in the wonder sweet Texas town.  Both Remedy and Micah have a winning personality neither of them let things get them down as they take the hand life deals them and make the most of it. I liked the people and would be honored to have lived in this town. If you haven’t read anything by this talented author this would be a good book to start with.
