A Perfect Bride

A Perfect Bride (Bride books Book 5)

by Ginny Sterling

What I really enjoyed about this story is how the author showed not all groups are bad or evil that no matter what race we belong to there are good and bad people in each. One group of Indians kill and destroy a family leaving one alive they didn’t know about why another group takes that child in teaching it their ways as she teaches them hers. She grows up to be a well around person until the day the army came taking them to a land far away. In this army there were many men who were not very nice but others who were as they gave all they could to protect these people. This is a story of struggle, pain, starting over, leaving those you love, sorrow, love, and trusting others to keep you safe. What comes out of it is a very touching highly emotional read that pulls the reader in. So many lives were lost but a few made it out starting over. There is some confusion for the characters, many misunderstandings, soul-searching, love, and some very touching scenes that will just about bring a tear to your eyes. I had many emotions as I read this, some very happy ones as well as some very sad and depressing ones. No matter how you look at it the Indians are native to our county they were the first here and their lands, homes and life was taken away. I thought the author did a wonderful job showing all the above with a wonderful plot that really pulls you in and a love story that holds you spellbound.

Colleen’s was very young, her family was killed by Indians, as she walks down many hills, over rocks, through creeks and wild grass she has come to the end of her rope, thirsty, hungry and tired just about to give up when the Cherokee people find her. This is a very touching scene where she proves what she is made of and gets the interest of the chief. They adopt her, each teaching the other of their ways. Fast forward many years Colleen is now a young woman only to have her family being taken again. As the army move them to a different land much is lost, many are angry even the military that is there to protect them. A few gives them kindness, one man grabs Colleen’s attention he is a kind man who gave up so much to keep her and her family protected.

Lieutenant Williams is taken in by the beautiful long hair beauty with pale green eyes so much he can’t take his eyes off her. He goes the extra mile to help her and her family when times are tough giving extra food, covering etc. When things get dangerous he puts her before his job and country taking a path he never thought he would. Now it is time to put everything on the line and decide just what he is going to do with this green eye wonder.

Colleen is a very strong child who grows into even stronger woman. She doesn’t take things on the chin, has no trouble speaking up and telling things like they are. She is just a wonderful young lady who gives so much of herself for her people. Daniel is really an amazing man who puts others first and lives for his country. He is honorable, caring and so loving. There are some very wonderful characters here from her adopted family to some other wonderful soldiers. There are also some very evil bad people. I thought the author did a wonderful job showing all aspects with some very entertaining reading. I truly loved this story just wish there were a little more detail towards the end. There are other people the story is built around I would have liked to have known a little more. The author does give you a wonderful and entertaining read. There were a few times my heart was in my throat and other times I just sigh. I enjoyed it so much that I bought all the back books in this series and have picked it as one of my favorite reads.

A Dark & Stormy Knight

A Dark & Stormy Knight (A McKnight Romance, #3)
by Suzie Quint

I thought this was a great read but I had a hard time with Georgia being so self centered even as she has aged. I did understand where she was coming from it would be the same way if you were dating a police officer. The fear of not knowing and always the fear of death. I really thought she should have talked things out with Sol but then you wouldn’t have a story. I loved their daughter but can never really understand parents that hold on to tight not letting them grow up. She has fears which made her leave years ago, but she still has those same fears. She really does love Sol, but she isn’t willing to admit that even to herself. Her mother is something else and I felt for her and her whole family having to deal with her. With her mother being so angry all the time it was easy to understand why she felt the way she did. I really liked her sister who helped her see how things really are and why she did the things she did

Sol is just about what every woman dreams, someone who is kind, loving a wonderful family man that shows through with how he deals with his family. His daughter is a delight he just adores her and makes a wonderful father. He is hardworking, gives so much of his self to every aspect of his life. I understand they were too young to marry as so many people are and I do understand her fears which Sol is still left in the dark he is clueless to why she left in the first place. He really loves her and wants her back but doesn’t have a clue how to do that. I understand why she finds it so hard to talk about even after all this time what I do not understand is why Sol isn’t demanding an explanation or at least doing some pushing to make her talk. There is no way any man can have that much patience after so many years I would be demanding answers to look for away to work it through my mind at least. I liked how he finally took control of his daughter and help to make the decisions. They did backfire on him but it sure was fun watching the fight it out.

The plot is wonderful the writing style is great the characters are good, the family is wonderful and the little girl is just a dear. I thought the detail scenes were outstanding I had no trouble picturing the ranch it was just beautiful and really added to the story. The supporting characters added so much. I have to give it to Georgia even after leaving finding she was pregnant she did tell Sol who took the responsibility as much as he could from afar with a smile on his face. You can really tell both of them love this little girl. I did find this story to be humorous at times, I had a few chuckles and a few laughs. I loved how Sol worked from afar to keep Georgia single, I even laughed over it. The story has a lot of wonderful points, the author kept it interesting and it moved at a great pace. There are a few twists and turns that are cute and funny as well as a few that are heartbreaking. I thought this was a wonderful read and totally enjoyed it.

This is a lovely read that the author put a lot of time and thought into. It flows easy and keeps you invested as the author takes you through some trying times. Before you know it you are through wishing you had more to read. I love the mail order bride time in history it was a time when many had little choices. This is an author who knows how to spin the tale to pull her readers in giving you a very entertaining read. I really enjoy the author and look forward to reading more from her.

Texas-Sized Trouble

Texas-Sized Trouble (Wrangler's Creek #4)
by Delores Fossen

I do love my sexy cowboys, add a little romance, a strong women willing to take him on, second chance at love, fortune teller making one of her crazy prediction after another, crazy fans, ex lover, a new baby, a teenager who is mad, along with some wonderful crazy friends and family and you have me hooked. What is there not to love about this story. You have all above along with humor, laughs, smiles, secrets, crazy fans and so much more.

Eve is in a world of trouble in so many ways from her past to her here and now. Her one night stand seems to keep haunting her along with her fans. She is done with show business but they won’t let her be. Her big secret from her past is about to catch up with her which will tear not only her family apart but her true love that she left so many years ago because of the events leading up to it was just so over whelming that neither her or Lawson could get over or overcome it. I think out of all the characters my heart goes out for her the most. Yes they all had a lot to deal with back then but she had some really tough choice to make with no help making them. I really think she made the right ones and if I were in her shoes I would have done the same thing.

All it takes is one night, a stupid choice so they seem to think, and a night of passion thinking of their needs to put both of them on a guilt trip to last a lifetime. When you get the full story you are wondering who is really to blame, who should have stepped in and how in the world would anyone have known. Lots of people see the same things they did every year and not one of them would have thought any different than they did. Most are lucky to not have the same turn out. It is still a heartbreaking scene that really hits the reader hard.

Lawson has a hard time facing not only his past but the girl in it. She ran out on him when he needed her the most but didn’t he tell her he wished he never had meant her….WOW he said that and so much more when he was young and dumb, things he is still saying today that is until his world falls out from under him leaving him in a tailspin like no other.

Both are on a guilt trip that leads to nightmares of one night when things got out of hand losing them both a very good friend. They can never go back and redo the past and will never be able to tell their friend how sorry they are. If things aren’t bad enough for Eve coming home facing her past trying to find peace for her unborn baby, her adopted daughter is on a war path like no other keeping Eve spinning out of control.

I just love the crazy fortune teller Vita who just keeps coming, loved her chicken and how Lawson deals with her. When the baby comes you will laugh yourself silly. I kept saying what, how did that happen. Lawson does end up the hero in many ways, he just stole my heart from his caring ways, to being bullheaded, his anger, and how he deals with so many issues, sometimes not in the best of ways. He does have a weakness for Eve and the bottle, he must overcome both. Eve has her weakness as well one being Lawson. Being a big movie star she stole my heart when she put her family first. I adored Lawson family and Eve’s friend. I didn’t care so much for Kellan even at the end with his endearing ways he was a butt.

This was a big win for me in so many ways. I loved the romance, the second chance at love, the way the plot builds, the secret, mystery, humor and the list goes on. It was a very well thought out plot, very well written.  The characters you can relate with, you understand where they are coming from even if you see the errors of their ways.  I have not read any in this series but really want to I have to wonder what I have missed.  I have gone and bought the three audio’s and the other books in this series even a few that are up for pre order. I can’t want to sink my eyes in them. This was truly a wonderful read you do not want to miss.

The Final Vow

The Final Vow
Hearts of Hays, Book 2
By: Barbara Goss
Narrated by: Persephone Rose
Series: Hearts of Hays, Book 2
Length: 3 hrs and 34 mins
Unabridged
Release date: 10-02-17
Language: English
Publisher: Barbara A. Goss

I can’t think of much worse than not having a family, not knowing what a normal day to day life is but not to have this and take a vow to become a nun without experience it is just to much as Laura finds out once she gets a taste of what a normal life is like.

Mr. Rose narration was very good there was one place where I could hear him sallow but beside that there are no background noises, no volume changes just a very clear clean audio. His character voices both male and female were good, he does need to work a little more on the female voices but they were pretty good. You had no trouble knowing who was talking or what they were feeling.   He did hold me on the edge with the outlaws throughout the story. I had no trouble buying into his buildup with excitement and some scary times. I look forward to listening to more of his work.

Ms. Goss gives you a delightful tale of a woman just about ready to take her last vows giving God all her love until she is kidnapped by outlaws and the man who chasing them down bring her back to town. He is her hero one she is very attracted to. She gives a compelling read of mixed feeling of a young women and her love for two which will she pick her vows to God or her vows to the man she is coming to care for. I like how the author showed the confusion, the pain and sorrow of being pulled two different ways. I really enjoyed Jesse’s family with a medaling mother who is ready for her son to settle down.  The author gives you suspense, a few thrills, mystery of Laura’s past and the love of children who need a family. It was very touching seeing how this town came together making room for a few more, giving them the love that children need.  I really enjoyed this delightful clean read as I am sure you will to.
