Heart Healer (Heart Healer #1)

Heart Healer (Heart Healer #1)
by Leslie Bowes

My Review
I found this to be an interesting read a little different from most time travel stories.  One man’s wife walked out the door never to be seen again. One lady is more or less sold to a man as his wife who is her worse nightmare. The store is full of pain and sorrow. As life turns around a gives them hope it is ripped from them again.

Catherine is a wonderful sweet lady who gives so much of herself.  Life has not treated her good since her mother’s death with her father leaving her to raise her brother. On his return after a few years he brings home a man and tells her she will be his slave until she works off his debt. Blake turns the tables and said no she will marry me. Catherine isn’t happy about this but there is little she can do. On getting to his home he becomes abusive and something happens to make her run in return she turns up in 2014. Christopher finds her and their journey begins.

Christopher isn’t you run of the mill hero he is all the things we have learned to love in a man. You will find no alpha here just a sweet loving caring man that puts his family first. He was broken when his wife left him. He picked up the pieces and the life of a scared little boy and makes it a life worth living. He was a true father and mother to his son who he loved dearly. In a time where it is easier to but your child second he puts him first. One night when he hears his name being called he runs outside to find the most beautiful women he has ever seen. From that moment on she was his and he would do anything to protect her and keep her safe as he shows her what true love is.

I thought this had a wonderful plot with some wonderful characters. The only one I really didn’t like was Blake he was totally out of his mind. The author gives you great supporting characters with a story that has many twists to it. There were a few things that didn’t work for me I didn’t see her father giving up his son so easy or her reaction to Christopher at first. I thought a time or two Blake stepped out of character that the author gave him. I really did like the plot and the characters along with the love story. As far as I can tell this is the first story this author has published and for a first novel it isn’t bad at all. If you are looking for a different kind of romance one the author put her heart and soul into this would be a good one to pick up. I do look forward to reading more from her and watching her grow her talent.
