Package Deal

Package Deal (Ruled Out Romances 2)
by Charissa Stastny

I really enjoyed this fun funny read. Man meet girl, thinks she might be the one only to find she has a little girl of her own. Raising someone else child is a big turn off not in his plans, and he exits left only to find everywhere he turns the lady of his dreams and her little nightmare of a daughter is right before his eyes, now isn’t that just his luck. There are many misunderstandings as well as lots of fun twists and turns that kept me very well entertained. A little drama as well as pain and sorrow. The show stopper and stealer is one little girl who is just adorable with her charming ways of getting into trouble and her hero which is the white horse she rides on. All that is needed is one princess and one knight to get on the same page. If one sweet angel has her way they will be married before you can say sweet!

It isn’t your normal boy meets girl, and they live happy ever after. From Spring’s name to her darling little girl and the man everyone hates to her delightful friend who Spring promises to help keep the big bad brother away from stirring trouble at the wedding it was a delightful charming clean read that holds your attention and keeps you invest. I loved the plot, as well as how the author twists it from misunderstandings to deeds as well as sticking one big foot in your mouth time after time. There are some big surprises for our characters that kept me smiling and laughing my way through. I loved the chemistry between Spring and Hudson you could feel the sparks, they did their best to put distance between them but it just wasn’t in the cards. There really were wonderful characters that really got off on the wrong foot and kind of stay on that foot for a while. The supporting characters are wonderful Brandee just steals my heart and then breaks it, but she comes right back and really makes me love her. She and Hudson has one heart melting scene that just about had me in tears as well as some very touching scenes between Emma and Hudson that just totally melts my heart.

The author knows how to pull her reader in she had me laughing, smiling, yelling, saying a few bad words as well as just about in tears at one time. Romance that makes you swoon, mouth dropping moments, a few shockers, sexy men and sassy women that know how to stand their ground, the author gives you a little of everything. I really didn’t want the story to end. I thought it was worth my time and a book I will read again and again.

Part-Time Princess

Part-Time Princess
Ladies-in-Waiting, Book 1
By: Pamela DuMond
Narrated by: Lesley Ann Fogle
Series: Ladies-in-Waiting, Book 1
Length: 7 hrs and 33 mins
Unabridged
Release date: 09-25-14

When you life falls apart and you hit rock bottom with others depending on you to take care of them what will you be willing to do to make that happen? Lucy had to ask herself that question she finds she does have limits as she crosses off one ad after another until one catches her eye, she applies and is given the job. It sounds so easy but as we know things never come easy for Lucy it is no different. She is pulled into a world wind of royalty, lies and deceit which add tons of humor that will make you laugh out loud along with a few OH MY’s.  One man chases her, another wants to marry her but neither know she is impersonating Lady Elizabeth. One wants her for what she brings to the table the other wants her because he is attracted to her. Only one can win the hand of the lovely Lady Elizabeth or maybe neither. First Lucy must get through this mess for a week or two until Elizabeth comes home. One week adds to another and then another until you have one big mess that leads to a wedding you don’t want to miss.

The narrator does a good job at narration, at times she does seem child like. When Lucy is in character I would have thought she would have had the airs and tones of Elizbeth but when she is talking she has her own voice which was a little confusing at first. She does have great character voices, once I got past Lucy keeping her voice I always knew who was talking and what they were feeling. Her male voices were as nice as her female ones. Her tones and emotions were pretty good it didn’t take you long to start laughing as Lucy got into one mess and then another. The narrator really bought this to light giving a good listen. There are no background noises, no repeating of words and if any breaks were taken I could not tell. She did have me hook as she portrayed Lucy and her mixed emotions of being Elizabeth trying to be more like her but slipping up and being herself.  All in all she made the listen enjoyable and kept me smiling and laughing.

The author gives you a delightful tale of mixed feelings, uneasiness as one women takes on a nation trying to be their princess.  She fools so many but at the same time they know something is different. It isn’t easy to lie to so many you have come to love. I thought the author really put some time and thought into this story giving a compelling listen that holds your attention and keeps you laughing and at times on edge. There are a few heart stopping moments as danger comes near. The twists and turns are a delight but at times I thought it was a little long. She does keep the story interesting and at times your heartbreaks why at other times your throat is in your mouth waiting to see the outcome. First one prince pulls her in and then another. I did enjoy the mystery of Nick the handsome hunk who is a big flirt. I loved the scenes on the plan and in the park. I will tell you this one you will fall deeply in love with one man who wants Elizbeth and not so much with the other one.  I really enjoyed the many different characters they add so much to the story. It was well worth your time and is totally enjoyable. The ending is heartbreaking and then the author twists it around making you smile big and loving every bit of it.

Texas-Sized Trouble

Texas-Sized Trouble (Wrangler's Creek #4)
by Delores Fossen

I do love my sexy cowboys, add a little romance, a strong women willing to take him on, second chance at love, fortune teller making one of her crazy prediction after another, crazy fans, ex lover, a new baby, a teenager who is mad, along with some wonderful crazy friends and family and you have me hooked. What is there not to love about this story. You have all above along with humor, laughs, smiles, secrets, crazy fans and so much more.

Eve is in a world of trouble in so many ways from her past to her here and now. Her one night stand seems to keep haunting her along with her fans. She is done with show business but they won’t let her be. Her big secret from her past is about to catch up with her which will tear not only her family apart but her true love that she left so many years ago because of the events leading up to it was just so over whelming that neither her or Lawson could get over or overcome it. I think out of all the characters my heart goes out for her the most. Yes they all had a lot to deal with back then but she had some really tough choice to make with no help making them. I really think she made the right ones and if I were in her shoes I would have done the same thing.

All it takes is one night, a stupid choice so they seem to think, and a night of passion thinking of their needs to put both of them on a guilt trip to last a lifetime. When you get the full story you are wondering who is really to blame, who should have stepped in and how in the world would anyone have known. Lots of people see the same things they did every year and not one of them would have thought any different than they did. Most are lucky to not have the same turn out. It is still a heartbreaking scene that really hits the reader hard.

Lawson has a hard time facing not only his past but the girl in it. She ran out on him when he needed her the most but didn’t he tell her he wished he never had meant her….WOW he said that and so much more when he was young and dumb, things he is still saying today that is until his world falls out from under him leaving him in a tailspin like no other.

Both are on a guilt trip that leads to nightmares of one night when things got out of hand losing them both a very good friend. They can never go back and redo the past and will never be able to tell their friend how sorry they are. If things aren’t bad enough for Eve coming home facing her past trying to find peace for her unborn baby, her adopted daughter is on a war path like no other keeping Eve spinning out of control.

I just love the crazy fortune teller Vita who just keeps coming, loved her chicken and how Lawson deals with her. When the baby comes you will laugh yourself silly. I kept saying what, how did that happen. Lawson does end up the hero in many ways, he just stole my heart from his caring ways, to being bullheaded, his anger, and how he deals with so many issues, sometimes not in the best of ways. He does have a weakness for Eve and the bottle, he must overcome both. Eve has her weakness as well one being Lawson. Being a big movie star she stole my heart when she put her family first. I adored Lawson family and Eve’s friend. I didn’t care so much for Kellan even at the end with his endearing ways he was a butt.

This was a big win for me in so many ways. I loved the romance, the second chance at love, the way the plot builds, the secret, mystery, humor and the list goes on. It was a very well thought out plot, very well written.  The characters you can relate with, you understand where they are coming from even if you see the errors of their ways.  I have not read any in this series but really want to I have to wonder what I have missed.  I have gone and bought the three audio’s and the other books in this series even a few that are up for pre order. I can’t want to sink my eyes in them. This was truly a wonderful read you do not want to miss.

Stone's Heart

Stone's Heart

Written by: Darby Karchut
Narrated by: Leonor A. Woodworth
Length: 6 hrs and 18 mins
Unabridged Audiobook
Release Date:02-08-17
Publisher: Clean Reads

I really liked this story it is a very touching romance that moves nice and steady reaching out and touching your heart from lost love to losing so much more when your heart breaks and just can’t take anymore you close it off so tight no one or nothing can come in. The author gives you a wonderful spiritual story of finding your way back to God and forgiving yourself and the things you do not understand. Sometimes things are taken away so you can find a road that holds more love than you have ever seen. A wonderful clean sweet read that really pulls you in letting you find peace that is very exciting with a little adventure and some sadness with an ending that will melt your heart.

The narrator as always does an outstanding job pulling on your heartstrings with the emotion she puts in her voice. She has a very lovely voice that really takes you away as she goes from one character to the other. Bo voice and tones were wonderful you knew when he was excited or sad and even pouting. He was just adorable. Her male and female characters really pull you in from their trying times to the joy they give each other. You have no trouble knowing just who is talking and what they are feeling. The narrator really makes you hold your breath a time or two as danger is near leaving your heart beating fast she changes from excitement to chilling and scared. There are no repeating of words, no background or any place where the volume changes, just a very clean and clear listen that holds your attention from start to finish. Her performance is outstanding and kept me spellbound from one scene to the next. I have really enjoyed this narrator and watching her talent grow with each audio she performs.

The author really put a lot of thought into bring you a story that will just about make your heart stop a time or two. The last dangerous scene had me hanging on the edge begging someone to do something. I felt I was right there with Linney as her cries became mine. My heart broke for all that she lost as the author throws a twist leaving you guessing how it will play out. Stone has turned away from God he has lost way more than any person should lose. It has been a few long years since he lost his wife leaving him raising a son all alone. Linney’s bright outlook on life brings him to a place in his life that he thinks he is ready to start over. Linney just isn’t going to let him in there is way too much to lose she has lost so much already.

What I really like is the spiritual side isn’t over powering but showing a love that you can only find through you religion. I enjoyed how the town helped those around them, the humor the author gives the characters and the way the plot slowly builds with a steady flow. It is touching, meaningful and powerful but smooth, easy and exciting. There are some toe curling, eye popping moments where you wish you could reach out and pull them to safety. A few times I would have loved to have shaken Stone and other time I would have loved to have just wrapped my arms around him. Linney brings out the mother in me who would just love to hold her and tell everything will work out. There was one cowboy I would have really have like to have hit he is very annoying and needs to learn how to talk and treat a lady. I loved how Linney worked around to make Stone let her help watch Bo. Bo brings a lot of smiles with things that only come out of mouths of children that will keep you smiling. I really enjoyed the supporting characters from the minister’s wife to the nose women. These are down to earth characters you can relate to with normal day to day issues. What a very touching and fulfilling read that you get lost in.  I think most will really enjoy this story even if you aren’t into spiritual clean reads you will enjoy this. I think it would be a lovely book for mothers and daughters to read together.

Summary
No way, blue jay, and never again. That’s the vow Linney Van Horn has made regarding single dads and their adorable children. After all, that’s why she tucked tail and hauled herself and her beloved Arabian horse clear across the country from New Jersey to the small town of Venture, Colorado. To mend her bruised heart—and ego—and start over.

However, the good Lord has a different “do-over” in mind for Linney. She finds herself living next door to Stonewall Wheeler, the frustratingly stubborn, but oh, so ruggedly handsome farrier, and his seven-year-old son, Beau.

A widower, Stone has buried himself in his work to avoid the grief of losing his wife. Determined to grow his horse-shoeing business and raise his child, falling in love is the last thing on his mind. Until an equally stubborn—but pretty as a daisy—teacher moves into the cottage besides his, and charms both him and his son.

Divine intervention. Yup, it’s a beautiful thing.

It’s going to take one adorable little boy, a pair of spirited horses, and a near-fatal accident to convince Linney and Stone a second chance at a Grace-filled forever is theirs for the asking.
