Healing the Quarterback

Healing the Quarterback
Wildhorse Ranch Brothers, Book 2
By: Leslie North
Narrated by: Rebecca Roberts
Series: Wildhorse Ranch Brothers, Book 2
Length: 3 hrs and 18 mins
Unabridged Audiobook
Release date: 12-12-17

This is a story about misunderstanding, surprises, chemistry and passion laced with humor, love and a delightful plot. Very short and sweet to the point with no fillers. It is a story that held my attention from the start with a wonderful plot, characters and narrator. They meet he is a player in more ways than one, she is a fan, but she isn’t telling it all. The attraction and chemistry between these two are all the charts. She isn’t impressed with his playing ways, he so impressed by her he can’t see straight. She walks away to meet other team players, he is caught up with fans and his job. She gets away but not for long….my oh my he sure is surprised to find out what her profession is.

Rebecca Roberts's narration is wonderful I really like this narrator from her wonderful many voices to the emotion she puts into her narration. Her male voices are just as great as her female ones. She has a smooth sexy voice you could listen to all day. Her male characters are rough, tough and strong. I didn’t care too much for the voice she gave to Charlie I didn’t think it fit him but I did like what she did with it and how she made him so playful and sound like a real player but and in dearing one. With Ms. Roberts different tones you have no doubt what each person is feeling. You can hear the fear, the passion, the playfulness, humor in her voice. I heard no background noises or any place where the audio is louder than other places. There was one place she did repeat a word but it didn’t take away from the audio. You get a clear clean audio that sounds wonderful that will leave you hanging on every word. If you haven’t listened to anything by this narrator I recommend you do she is very talented. I am sure you will love her as much as I do.

This was such a fun listen I fell in love with the plot, the characters and the humor. Charlie is wild, exciting and a player, but he knows when he sees the girl he wants but his playing lines get in the way, and she calls fowl before he gets out of the end zone. He isn’t giving up, and she isn’t giving in, hum I wonder which one will win. Yes this is a fun listen but it is emotional too when they careers get in the way they may have to call a time-out. The scenes are hot and steamy once these two come together it is off the charts, what a touchdown. I loved the humor, the baiting, the plot and the characters there wasn’t anything I didn’t like about it. The author knows how to pull you in, taking you away, keeping you invested until the end. In fact, I picked it as one of my favorite listens to this year.

Summary
Charlie Wild knows how to score. On and off the field, he’s been a force to be reckoned with since his father taught him how to throw a spiral in the back pasture of Wildhorse Ranch. But a recent injury calls into question his ability to play football and points a finger at his wild child reputation. He’s been given an ultimatum: overhaul his image by renovating his hometown hospital or get off the field.
The last thing Dr. Dylan Rose needs is yet another man telling her what to do, and certainly not what to do with her hospital. She’d left Houston and the sports stars she’d fixed there, tired of watching big, bulky men beat each other up for fun. So when Charlie Wild limps into her hospital, she wants nothing more than to fix his hot body up and see that great ass walk out the door.
Charlie is taken by the sexy doctor. Her sweet smile hides a sharp tongue that he enjoys baiting just about as much as he loves kissing it. He’s on board for following her prescriptions and more than willing to teach her new ways to score in the sheets. But when it comes to the final seconds of this play, he’s going to have to decide what is more important: The doctor he’s learned to love, or the game he just can’t quit....

The Boys Club

The Boys Club
by Angie Martin

The author gives you a highly entertaining read that hooks you from the first page until the last. It is packed with action adventure, suspense, betrayal, double-dealing, mystery and twists and turns you won’t see coming. I believe in rules and law but I also believe, sometimes you need to push that line and go outside the box to find justice. The author gives you such thrilling read of danger, justices with an organization led by a former FBI agent who push the lines. They get the job done when others have to stay inside the lines. Logan has his own goals in life, he will find and kill the man who killed his wife. Logan’s mission is to save Sara, her life isn’t going very well, if her father isn’t controlling her than her soon to be husband is. I thought I forgot to say her father is the man he wants to take out and the man Sarah is the most in danger with.

Sarah doesn’t know it but today is her lucky day as Logan puts his plan into action and kidnaps her. He must convince her he is the good guy and make her trust him. I loved the romance, the characters, it really is exciting and thrilling ride, you have a little bit of everything The author gives vivid details that pulls you leaving you hanging on the edge, turning the pages having to know what is going to happen next. Lord what a ride and I loved every minute of it. I was so invested I read it at one setting and didn’t want it to end.

Waking the Bear

Waking the Bear (Shifter Wars #1)
by Kerry Adrienne

I thought this was a cute read with some likable characters and some that still need to grow up. Some things they say or happens just does not work for me. Being a park ranger how can you do your job and still hibernate? I really didn’t care much for the cave of mystical powers that is just me and really doesn’t have anything to do with the story or plot. It is a story about revenge getting even not about what really happened and finding the truth. there is danger, romance, learning and starting over. I liked Griff he is a bear shifter and meets everything I think one should be strong, deadly, caring, and he has lots of emotions. Amy is the true winner here for my affection she is strong and has been through a lot. Deciding to take some time off to get her life back on track she isn’t interested in another relationship. There is no doubt the attraction between these two is strong from the start but with danger near Griff isn’t sure he is ready to move on that just yet. Yes she is his mate and yes there are things she needs to learn but right now isn’t a good time.

I really like how the author builds up their relationship slow and easy. How shy and very cute they are, I loved how Griff gives her space being a true gentleman and pacing his self. I have no trouble buying into their relationship or even how he tells her the woods are dangerous and not to go alone. Of course being a strong woman she doesn’t listen, I most likely would not have even. Of course all woods are dangerous but that hasn’t stopped me yet. I do think Griff could have some up with something a little more meaningful to make her understand the danger but than there wouldn’t have been a kidnapping. Just not sure this worked for me.

Bottom line I love the characters for the most part, the chemistry was great, the plot was good, I just have a few little issues but I did enjoy the read and would try this author again.

Second Chances

Second Chances (Fairshore #1)
by Christina Butrum

Is there anything worse than losing in a relationship, starting over many miles away from your friends and family? Amelia is about to find out this answer as she leaves the only home she knows and the only friends she has along with the man she thought she knew and loved. A very sweet and touching read with true emotions that grabs you. It is heart breaking but at the same time a story of passion of one that has lost so much and breaking out to find what it is like to be truly on your own. It is a little slow at the start but does pick up and is a great read. From what I understand this is the first book this author wrote, and she did a really good job. I haven’t read anything by her before but I do look forward to reading more of her work.

I like the characters Amelia and Bailey friendship starts out strong and fast. Amelia and Zack romance is lovely even as they work to overcome things that get in their way you can tell they love each other. The characters are likable, the plot is good, the writing not bad at all. There are a little repeating of wording and a little more filler than I like but all in all it was a good read that I did enjoy.

Proving Ground

Proving Ground
The Northstar Security Series, Book 1
By: Stanalei Fletcher
Narrated by: Charles Henderson Norman
Series: Northstar Security, Book 1
Length: 6 hrs and 26 mins
Unabridged Audiobook
Release date: 01-25-18

An interesting listen with some action, lost love, family issues, drama and second chances. Caitlin is a strong woman but has an issue of thinking things out before she jumps which gets her into a mess with her job which puts her on leave. Her boss is an old time buddy of her fathers, he demands she goes home, she doesn’t want to for a few different reasons. Go home as order she does with her tail between her legs. On returning home she finds two things her father is in the hospital with issues from a long time accident from a bullet and the man she has always loved right in her face. He is the real reason she left years ago much against her father’s wishes. Her father told her if you take this job don’t come home….

Mr. Fletcher’s narration is good he does need to work a little on his women voices which are not bad just not a true female voice. He also needs to pause a little more to let you get the full effect. I am not staying it is bad by no means, and he didn’t race through it just needs a little more pause between characters, and what is going on around them. His normal voice is pleasant, it was a clear and clean audio with no background noises, no repeating of words and no volume changes. There were times when a little too much emotion was displayed and maybe not enough at other times. His male voices are wonderful, I always knew who was talking and what they were feeling. I thought his nurse was wonderful loved how she took control and you had no trouble understanding she meant business. I could not tell when breaks were taken, and I did enjoy his narration. He did bring the story a live and enjoyable. I thought it was worth my time and did enjoy the audio.

The author gives a good listen with interesting characters. It wasn’t a book I had trouble putting down but wasn’t a book I didn’t want to listen to. Her characters are likable, the plot was nice along with the action. Something was missing I can’t put my finger on it but it. I thought Caitlin needed to grow up a little, the story is a lot about me, me and what I want. She isn’t a team player and it maybe the reason I didn’t really care for her was because of the voice the narrator used for her. I did enjoy a lot of the scenes, along with the danger and excitement. Is it worth your time, yes it was entertaining and I did enjoy it. I enjoyed the mystery around the plot but didn’t understand why she didn’t tell them about the two men from the start or at least once Mac got to her. It was a long time before they started looking for the man who started it all. Caitlin just never has her head where it needs to be. There was a little humor and I really enjoyed it as well as the danger. It isn’t a story I got lost in but it is a good story.
