The Unexpected Bride

The Unexpected Bride (Hope's Crossing #4)
by Cynthia Woolf

The author does an outstanding job at showing how hard it is for a women doing the same job as a man to get equal pay and respect not only from other doctors but from the people she is treating. It is never easy being a mail order bride going to the unknown meeting, marrying someone you do not know but to try to do a job having her husband not stand beside you supporting you is even harder.  I really loved this story you can tell the author put a lot of thought and time into it. She does a wonderful job showing the struggles not only of one woman but the town and its people.

Alice has little choice after her husband is murdered to become a mail order bride she has her little one to think of as well as getting away from a place with bad memories. It is really hard for her when she loved her husband so much letting another man in. I really could understand her and her reasoning along with her fight to be a doctor herself.  I really liked this character.

Just as I understood her side I also understood Jeremiah side in not knowing how much she knew and if she really knew her stuff. I think he was really pulled in two ways giving her what she wanted but looking out for the town’s people to give them the best care he could. He is a very understanding man that is until he wants all of him for his self finding her dead husband stands between them is hard for him to deal with.

Both of these have a lot to learn and will have to trust along with give and take. I really liked how Alice took control giving the Doc more of a life setting hours and putting limits to things.  I just loved how they slowly became a family bring others into their life. The characters here will steal your heart from the darling little girl to the adopted grandfather.  Things are not easy for this couple they will have to go through a lot to build the life they want. Each finding out just what they are missing but neither willing to be the first to make the first step. The author gives you passion and chemistry as she throws in a little danger and mystery. As they finally start working out their issues there is danger around them will they get to find the true love before one of them dies?

This was really well written bring back a time when women had to fight for every step they made. You can feel the struggles, pain and sorrow of trying to make a living taking a stand in what you believe. Finding common ground and letting go of your past to try again. I was pulled in from the first page which had my heart pounding. Ms. Woolf knows how to deliver a story that is not only entertaining but keeps you hanging on until the end giving you a compelling read you get lost in.  I loved these characters and what the author bring to this story. It was a story I was very invested in and could not put it down.

Knowing he has to marry the woman or she’ll be inundated with marriage proposals from the lonely miners, he goes to Matchmaker & Co. Specifying his need for a nurse or someone willing to be trained as one, he’s surprised when Alice Carter, doctor, steps out of the stagecoach with her precocious daughter Melly.

Poison Evidence

Poison Evidence (Evidence #7)
by Rachel Grant

This was an exciting thrilling read that bring two people together with one thinking she is using her baby CAM to mapping the area with a complex computerized mapping system similar to Radar, but uses lasers. The other is trying to save his sister and her son. Jack does everything he can to make sure he and Ivy get together. He plans to use her new system to find what the Russian lost in return freeing his family.  Ivy not having a clue that her government set her up to use her machine without telling her what she was really doing is left with few people to trust.  Will she decide to go with the enemy or stay true to her country?

It doesn’t take Ivy long before she is pulled in to Jack web getting down right and personal. What will she due when she finds out who and what he really is? It doesn’t take long before things get very complicate in more ways than one. The triangle gets even more complicated when others step in to take over trying to get their hands on Ivy and CAM leaving her with only one person she can trust or can she?

Ivy was a great character a little too naïve she did handle all that came her way the best she could. I most likely would have done the same in her shoes. I really liked how she took the bull by the horn doing what she felt was best. She has no reason to trust either side each wants something from her but not willing to give much away.  I really liked Jack after he got her out to sea coming clean and letting the chips fall where they way I had to really respect him and his reasoning. He is strong, caring and will do anything for his family.

The author is holding her cards close not giving out many clues to the outcome and gives you some major twists along the way. The ending will totally blow you way I never saw that coming. I really liked the characters and how this played out giving a very entertaining read. I thought this was well written with lots of passion, chemistry, honor, pain, action and following your heart even when you might think that is wrong. The author gives you a hot read with action as the bad guy are added to the game of hide and seek along with thrills that will get your heart beating fast. I did enjoy this read but not as much as I have others of this authors. Is it worth your time OH YES it is. The ending just blows me out of the water leaving me with my mouth open. I hope you will pick this up and give it a read.

Unthinkable

Unthinkable (Beyond Human #1)
by Nina Croft

What a wonderful read! I had heard so much about this story that when it came up for review I requested it.  Jake wants his people back but Christa father won’t give them. Slowly his tribe is dying as they are hunted down by the government he worked for. Jake makes plans to get his people back by kidnapping Christa. I totally loved their first meet it was just too cute and fun. Christa might look all shy and innocent but her thoughts sure are not.  I had to laugh as these two meet for the first time the author really puts some thought into this read giving you a cute humorous read full of love, mystery and thrills. She really builds up the story setting up the next book in the series with wonderful characters you can’t wait to get to know more about.

I really loved the connection Jake and Christa have they are really totally different due to the life they have lead. One a little on the wild side the other so pure and innocent. Jake loves sneaking into Christa mind he really finds peace there something he needs very much.  Jake has done what they want but he knows the right and wrong which makes him take a turn putting him at the top of their enemy list.

I really enjoyed getting to know these characters as well as a few that will be in future books. I found I was so invested in the read that I could not put it down and stayed up late to read as much as I could. The author knows how to hook her readers giving one compelling read that is highly entertaining. You are going to have to hold on to your seat to take the rollercoaster ride as the author throws twists and turns your way. It is a very exciting ride that will have you so invested you will wonder where the time has gone. I can’t wait to see where she takes this series. If you are looking for a exciting, thrilling read that will have you chuckling a time or two this is the story for you.

Summary
Jake Callahan, leader of the Tribe, has always believed he’s one of the good guys. Now, hunted by the government he used to work for, he’s taking a crash course in being bad. What he desperately needs is a bargaining tool, and that’s unfortunate for Christa Winters, daughter of Jake’s former boss.

Christa is a scientist, a total geek, and a good girl with a secret hankering for bad boys. Which turns out to be embarrassingly inconvenient when she’s kidnapped by a stunningly gorgeous—but obviously bad-to-the-bone—man intent on using her against the father she loves. A man with a seemingly uncanny ability to know exactly when she’s thinking about kissing him—which is most of the time.

But people are dying, and it becomes clear that the stakes are much higher than Jake ever imagined. Someone is out to obliterate the Tribe and everyone associated with it, including Christa. Only by working together to uncover the secrets behind the past, can they ever hope to have a future.

Stiff Things: The Splatterporn Anthology

Stiff Things: The Splatterporn Anthology

Written by: Brandon Ford , Cori Vidae , Brian Rosenberger , Olive Whittier , Tanker Ray , Kristopher Triana
Narrated by: Joe Hempel
Length: 5 hrs and 20 mins
Unabridged Audiobook
Release Date:10-19-16
Publisher: Comet Press

I don’t even know where to begin there is some really twisted stories in here that will leave you with your mouth hung open and brain saying there is no way I heard that right. This is horror at its finest leaving you no doubt there are some really twisted people out there and hoping praying you never meet them. J When the narrator posted he was looking for reviews “PM ME IF YOU DARE” he typed…okay you got my attention. I ask how you can you turn down a dare like that…NOT ME… I really didn’t have a clue what I just requested but it didn’t take me long to tell myself maybe we are in a little too deep here. From the start of the story there is no doubt this is hard core porn and I said to my self- self are you really going to listen to this. Self said a promise is a promise so yes we are.  That lead me to looks of horror, thinking OH MY GOD that is nasty, really, wow didn’t see that coming, to shock as well as shaking in my shoes…okay maybe not the shaking part but I know I never want to meet any of these people. You have been warned…read on if you dare.

Mr. Hempel my hats off to you for the outstanding narration of this book. I am sure you set with your legs crossed and hands over your lap a time or two as you worked your way through this story. I had no trouble at all feeling the excitement of each character at the build up for some thrilling exciting sex scenes.  You even had me feeling sorry for mankind and wanting to pull a few people right out of the pages as they took on the pleasure and then the pain when the end was clear. I found his character voices to be wonderful you have no trouble knowing who is talking, or how much pleasure they are in along with how much pain they feel along with the excitement the deliver is feeling as they bring the pleasure and pain on. There were no background noise (if there had been I would most likely have jumped out of my car running for my life) nor any places where the volume was louder than any other place in the audio. What this narrator gives you is clean, crisp, clear audio that will leave you shaking your head. You have no trouble visualizing what he has just given you it is very vivid that you become so invested you might forget where you where you are and what you are doing.  I really wish I could give more than 5 Stars the narration was outstanding.

The first story starts out they are looking for some action as they have a few VERY HOT scenes with their selves. They finally found one to take up the call went home and got it on for everyone on the net as you yourself think oh and not in a good way. You think what are these people thinking and then you find out. As I was almost to work the audio left me speechless with my mouth hung open think no way that just happened. Yep Yep it did and lord they aren’t done. I had to set in my car listening until the end came still leaving me speechless. I have to honestly say this title fits the book in more ways than one. It will not be the first of these stories that will leave you speechless there are a few. Some I didn’t really care for it was a little hard to understand what the author was trying to show you but horror no doubt is in there. Others will leave you so shocked you won’t be able to talk leaving you looking straight ahead with eyes blinking afraid to face just what happened. Some are nasty beyond nasty and some will make you want to upchuck.  This is one book that is filled with psychosexual horror that will leave men with their legs crossed and pulling back into their selves wishing they could run but to afraid to move.  It will leave women shaking in horror wanting to run the other way.  If you love horror and erotic take the dare and pick this up you will never see humans the same again. I know I am keeping an eye on those around me and I don’t think I will be making any new friends anytime soon. Lol This is just too horrible and to nasty but I bet it will stick with you for a long time. It’s not an audio for the weak there are some very vivid details that you won’t even have to close your eyes to see.  I am still shaking my head.  Words cannot do justice to some of these stories….

Summary

Don't get any on you.
When Comet Press put out the call for submissions for Stiff Things, we said we were ready to ratchet up the eroticism and visceral intensity with hardcore stories that penetrate new depths of psychosexual horror.
But we weren't as ready as we thought we were for the extreme stuff that came flooding in on waves of blood and other bodily fluids we won't mention here. Not that we're complaining.
In other words, we got what we wished for...and more. So much more that calling it an anthology of erotic horror was no longer strong enough.
The stories themselves dictated a new title. And so here are the stories for this upcoming release with a more apt title:
Stiff Things: The Splatterporn Anthology
Modern Celebrity, by Brandon Ford
Suckers, by Cori Vidae and Brian Rosenberger
One Ear, Always to the Land of the Dead, by Olive Whittier
Godf---ed, by Tanker Ray
The Solution, by Kristopher Triana
Hunter's Moon, by S.C. Hayden
If My Face Were Transparent, You'd See the Devil, by Eric LaRocca
Charlotte the Harlot, by Shequila Rayne
The Penis of the Marquis de Sade, by Andrew Darlington
The Extra Mile, by Paul Allih
