I do not even know where to begin I was totally sucked in hooked from the first page. This is one author who knows how to keep her reader entertained by giving you everything in one place that makes a true romance. If you haven’t met Kat Maloney you do not know what you are missing. This is one sassy young lady who has no trouble telling it like it is. She loves to back talk, argue, she can talk faster than a side winder. She will pull a gun on you in a heartbeat as she skins you alive with her tongue. You won’t hear too many pretty sweet words come out of this young ladies mouth. She stands up for what she believes in and doesn’t back down matter what. She knows what she wants and will make you look like a fool as she gets it.  If that doesn’t have you taking a look at this book maybe what else the author has to give you might change your mind. What you will find here are kidnapping, Indians on the warpath, runaway bride, destroying things, jailbird, bounty hunter that has bitten off more than he can chew, pranks, lord the arguing between Kate and her father and Kate and Charlie, feud, a few wedding, some HOT steamy love making, Jeb just seem to able to make all the women mad, smiles, sadness, love and a wagon load of laughs. You won’t believe what Kate is up to when this story starts off let’s just say it has to do with a boarding school and some kerosene this doesn’t look good at all. I have laughed myself silly at all the things Kate does and said she is one lady after my own heart. She sure doesn’t let any grass grow under her feet before she is off again jumping into a mess of trouble.

I really loved Kate’s sassy ways and sassy mouth along with her kinder side for those she cares about. She doesn’t always think before she does which gets her in a mess of trouble.  What she really wants most in life is her freedom and her father’s love…don’t be telling her I said that I do not need her hunting me down with my name on her bullets. She is headstrong, bullheaded, loves the country and her horse holds her heart.  Do not put anything past Kate if she hasn’t done it she is about to. It was a pleasure getting to know her and seeing all the fixes she gets herself into. It isn’t easy when you lose your mother on the day you were born and your father cannot forgive you for taking his only love away. When the right attention isn’t given what you end up with is a smart mouth, causing trouble child that grows into an adult still trying to make her daddy happy and then said the heck with it. The man has gone too far when he picked out a husband for her. She has no trouble telling him so with a mouth that is in need of a mouth for of a good washing.

Poor Charlie has his hands full from the day he agreed to take on Kate as his bride. Even the tall tales her father told him won’t put a stop to him taking a look at this beautiful woman. Once he sets his eyes on this proud strong beauty he never looks back as he tries to win not only this woman’s hand but her heart. I love his strong alpha nature as he goes after what he wants. He doesn’t let any grass grow under his feet. Humm does this sound like someone else we know? These two make a perfect match from their temperament to their very hot passion they just click from start to finish. Now if we can only get Kate to see this half the battle will be over.  There will be many battles fought before the war is won. It is anyone’s guess to the outcome and who will lay their guns and tempter down first.  This is a battle of wills and it is any ones guess who will be left standing if anyone.

I loved this whole book from start to finish. I have added it to my favorite reads for 2016. This is one story reading it once will not be enough you will want to reread this a few times. I loved all the characters from the neighbor who will have you in stitches to her father you will be torn between feeling sorry for him to wanting to shake him. Their cook is a sweetheart who has spent her life looking out for Kate. This author knows how to put the twist in to twist as she spins a story that will have you laughing from the first page. She gives a very well written thought out plot with so many twists and turns they will be spinning around in her head wondering what in the devil she will come up with next. I found myself staying up late at night to get this book read. I just could not put it down. When I thought I was at a stopping point off goes Kate and Charlie again. One high telling it out of town the other in hot pursuit. You might as well give up you won’t get a handle Kate just set back relax and laugh your way through a delightful wonderful read.  I highly recommend you pick this book up making sure you have lots of time to give it the attention it deserves.  I doubt very much if you can pick this up laughing and saying Oh My…no she didn’t in the first few pages.

There is nothing better than getting a second chance at love, we all make mistakes or do things we wish we could change for Marisa she did something in high school that will change her life and take away the one person she has had a major crush on. Cole saw it as betrayal not being able to forgive or forget he lost out on his big chance. When push come Marisa has to have a big name at her fundraiser there is no one bigger than Cole. Cole doesn’t want to see, be around or have anything to do with Marisa or her fundraiser. Knowing he must get contacts for his father’s construction company he makes a deal with the devil (Marisa). When they are cornered at a business meeting in a bar with their ex’s one thing leads to another making them a couple yes fake or is it. There are so many an emotions running around it is hard to tell if this is for real or play. One thing is for sure once this is all played out two lives will be changed forever it is anyone’s  guess if broken hearts will be left behind in its wake.

I really like Marisa she has always felt herself lacking she is more on the nerdy side always with her nose in a book growing up. It is no wonder she picked a teaching career. She has had a long time crush on Cole. One night many years ago he was her first and things changed you know how boys are they get what they want and never call. Some things aren’t always as they seem there is much more to this story. Marisa was made to do something that broke her heart and hurt others she really has never forgiven herself. All in all she is a very strong women and not a quitter she is going after what she wants which is to raise money to help add on to her school. In doing so it puts her back under Cole’s charm and his demands.

Cole is a little complicated  he is an easy man to like and is very handsome with his rugged looks. Marisa many years ago hit him right where it hurt sure he wasn’t totally innocent well he wasn’t innocent at all but still she should not have done what she did. He has to come home to help take over his father business after his stroke. His father wants him to take it over he has other plans and Marisa sure isn’t in them. He does have to admit she grew up damn sexy and if he is honest with his self he wouldn’t mind picking up where they left off that is only in the bed room she isn’t getting close to his heart again.

This has a great plot from the start the author grabs your attention pulling you in. You can feel the shock in Cole as he realizes who Marisa is the word play fits this story very well. The supporting characters are something else from his brothers who throw in some humor to her cousin who has a little tempter and a sense of humor all rolled into one. I loved the parents who give a lot of love to their children they play a big part of this story from misunderstandings to how they were raised. You can feel the pain of each character as they play out their roll learning to trust again and overcoming their past learning from their mistakes and finding out all things are not as they seem. You will smile and feel the pain as the author takes you through the story of lost love of teenagers to adult who what a very strong pull with a powerful attraction. I found this a very touching heartwarming read and can’t wait for the brother’s stories.  I hope you will pick this story up giving it a read there is nothing like reading a story from a Harlequin author you know when you pick it up you are in for a treat of sorrow, love, lost and pain with a wonderful HEA that will touch you all the way to your heart.

My Review

At first I found the story a little confusing but then it all tied up nicely into a good read.  I do think if I had read the first book in the series I would have understood this couple better. The author gives you a little action with a surprise of who the bad guy is I sure didn’t see that coming. The author gives you a great plot with wonderful characters. My heart really went out to Mercedes it is touch and go where or not she will make it out of this mess alive.  There is nothing worse than to have our justice system on the wrong side of the law. When a call goes out for help the FBI come in sending Callie in to save the day. What she finds is a little more than she can handle. She needs help and she needs it fast but with Dom so far away will he reach her in time.

Callie is just right for this job she is a court report, what better way to catch the judge and put him behind bars but someone in his field. First she must decide if Mercedes is telling the truth and then work up a plan to bring down the judge why getting them out of the mess alive. Callie has her work cut out for her as she goes into training which Dom is very much against. Callie is a woman with a heart doing her best to find the truth and bring those who break the law to justice.  I really like this character she got a good head on her shoulders, she thinks things through. She isn’t afraid to step into danger. Even when in danger she keeps her head.

Dom is very protective of Callie he might not like her going off into danger. If she must go he will give her  all the aid he can to get her back home safe and sound. He is there for her if she needs help but is he to far away to give it when she really needs it.   The story force mostly on Callie and what she is doing but Dom is very much in the picture. He is strong but willing to step back to give her the space she needs. I do feel he is very alpha but knows when to back off a little.

The author gives a great plot with characters you have no trouble understanding. There are a few surprises along with some twists and turns that gives the story excitement. The supporting characters add a lot to the read. I won’t called it a fast pace but there are some fast moving scenes in the middle to end. The story was written well with great characters, it is always nice to read books from a new author that you know nothing about. I really enjoyed this with reading it at one setting. The author writes in a way that is easy to follow pulling you in keeping you invest in the characters and what is going on around them.  I do think you such most likely read book one to fully understand the relation between these two.

My Review

There were things that made this a 5 star read for me and other places where it was more of a 4 star. I loved the scenes from the old west from the train to the wagon. I found this to be humorous and at times chuckled. I enjoyed the fact this was a sweet heartwarming clean Christian read for those times when you do not want anything heavy just wanting to relax with a good story. I found the baiting back and forward between Marlee and Jett to be delightful. From the moment she steps off the train she starts out on the wrong foot with not much changing as she takes on her new job which is rather confusing for her. When she finds out what all it entitles she is at a loss for words saying no way not happening.  Of course if she doesn’t take on the job there would be no story that would be a shame since it really has a wonderful plot. I loved her knifes they bought many hours of entertainment.  Marlee is a chef but her training has not prepared her for her new job. She fines cooking on an open fire totally different from cooking on a stove. Once the trail ride is over I am sure she will be hugging and kissing her stove never to leave it again.

Marlee is a wonderful sweet character she isn’t a quitter she gives it her all and then some.  She isn’t one to let the grass grow under her feet or complain. She steps up takes action even if it gets her in over her head.  There are times when things get to be too much and she needs to regroup but it doesn’t take long for her to bounce back giving it another try.  Jett has a lot on his plate taking over the full running of the ranch with the owner trying to take care of his family with one dead and another in the hospital at deaths door he just cannot cope with life leaving Jett to take over.  Jett is trying his best to do the job when Marlee comes along he just shakes his head trying to make the best of the green horn.  He is sure in for some very trying times as Marlee keeps him on his toes.

I truly loved this story I just did not feel the chemistry between the two as much as I would have liked. I would have liked to have known more of the owner’s background as well as more about what happen to the rustlers. At times I thought it moved a little slow just as I was getting ready to put it up for the night the author hooked me with some action packed that had me turning the pages.  Since this is a series maybe some of the questions  will be explained later on but I just felt like there was not any closure. I did love the ending which at one point was heart breaking and then took off with a scene that will leave you smiling. The letter Jett wrote I found very touching and very emotional but I just didn’t feel that emotion as much when they were together.  I enjoyed them getting to know each other, watching their love grow and the matchmakers are very humorous keeping things moving right along. You will be so surprised when something happens that puts some major action into the read. There is a lot more to Marlee than the eye can see, she is full of many surprises.

I thought for the most part this story was well written I would  have like a little more information. I had no trouble picturing the things that happen in my mind which added more humor to it. I would have loved to have seen the cowboys faces a time or two. The story held my interest keeping me hook that I do want to read the next in this series. This looks to be a very promising series with some wonderful reading. I really enjoyed all the characters they add so much to the story even when they put their foot in their mouth. I hope you will give this new author a try I think most will enjoy this clean funny read with some serious messages for the reader.
