Heart of Eden

Heart of Eden (Colorado Hearts #1)
by Caroline Fyffe

I just love new series a fresh start with new characters that you get to know and most of the time come to love. I really loved the map that is included that if you want to go back and see the lay of the land you can. I enjoyed the opening which gives you a little back ground and you get to get a feel of each character. Not all is as it seems there has been some lies told along the way that made the characters lose year of knowing a kind man. It is too late for them but is it too late for the children to learn and grow, find love and overcome a hurtful past. As we take the journey with these five daughters we see heart break, pain and sorrow of a love they will never know and all they will find and have to deal with along the way.

Blake’s life hasn’t always been good when he came to work for John he got way more than a job but a man to look up to. A man who has honor, kindness and helpful giving way more of his self than is expected to a foremen.  His feelings for the five girls are not the kindest how could they stay away from a man that was just a kind sweet man. Now that that their father has died they are on the way to see what is left for them in the will. He just shakes his head how is he going to deal with this mess and all the problems they will bring.  Blake is a strong man who takes care of those he cares about, he isn’t afraid to call a spade a spade and has no trouble laying it all out telling them all just how it is. This is one man that had me from the first page when he was high on the hill overlooking the land telling us his feeling on John, his daughters and the land.

The girl’s lives haven’t been any easier than Blake’s has been. Losing a father they don’t really remember and a mother so soon after they have moved being left to two very unkind people to raise them they just want to be done with it all. They are looking forward to their arrival and all that it may bring in hopes for a better life.  Each girl is unique it was fun getting to know them and watching them try to fit in and learn the ways of the land. They have a big choice to make, stay or go and learn more about the father that so many lies has been told.

Belle is headstrong but also kind hearted she gives a lot to those she cares about. She is strong and looks out for her family. Trust isn’t something any of the sisters gives easy they have reason not to. As Belle gets to know Blake she finds a man she can look up to, she loves the stories he tells of her father. She looks forward to their time together talking and listening. She has a lot of choices to make there is one left at home that she is close to but what about these new feeling for Blake.

I really enjoyed the twist and turns and the surprises the author throws our way. It is intriguing filled with danger of the unknown.  Not everyone is happy that the girls are there and someone wants them gone. As the danger builds love blossoms not only between people but the love of the land. The author has a way of writing a story that pulls you in, painting a scene that is easy to picture. I have been like Blake setting on a horse on top of the world looking out as far as you can see taking in the beauty that lay before me. It was so easy to relate to him and so easy to picture the things he saw.  I thought of my own son that has the same name, Blake became my Blake which made him even more endear to me. I was held spellbound by the heartbreak, tears, sorrow, smiles and surprises they were so real to me I felt I could just about each out and touch the characters. They became my friend, my family, I took on their pain, when their heart broke so did mine. My hats off to the author for bring such a realistic story that holds you spellbound keeping you on the edge from danger to surprises that you feel all the way to your toes. This is a big win for me I can hardly wait until the next one comes out to find out what is in store for me.  If you want a true delightful pleasure pick up the audio Ms. Fyffe audio’s are a wonderful I am so looking forward to listening to this.

Battle of the Bulbs

Battle of the Bulbs (Holidays in Willow Valley #1)
by Shannyn Leah

What a fun, shocking, funny, holds your sides laughing story that will keep you in stitches and your mouth hung open. This is one of those books that you won’t be able to read just once. What is funnier than two old people feuding over just about everything under the sun? I am glad you asked, the answer would be two old people feuding over Christmas decorations living in town houses that are connected…well and their grandchildren trying the best to keep the peace. Never has drama been so much fun!

Poor  Cheyenne hasn’t been home in years but that is about to change when things become to much for her to handle when someone leaks her past and she is sure she know who that would be. That would be her no good running ex.  She runs home to Granny who is really the only mother she knows. Well she knows her mother who has more troubles than anyone could guess. You will get to meet that dear sweet mommy dearest before you know it and all the messes she makes. What truly makes this a five star read is Granny and the grandfather who can’t get along. From tearing up and shooting each other’s decorations to their grandchild at each other’s throats you are in for one heck of an entertaining read.

Cheyenne runs home but finds out the dear sweet man next door isn’t so sweet. Granny comes flying out with her mouth cocked giving him a piece of her mind. If that isn’t bad enough her ex that ran out on her is in town, when things can’t get worse she finds out the dear not so sweet old man is his grandfather and he is right next door. For the love of God would you just shoot me already she and I think. How in the world are we going to get through this Christmas with all this going on?

About the time Cheyenne learns about the feud Booker decided to visit his grandfather who is as bullhead as they come. He has plans for this old man and it isn’t keeping the peace between the two houses. Lord have Mercy Cheyenne is back and looking fine, he must keep his sense and stay away from her. But as things get wild and crazy putting distances between these two isn’t easy.

I loved the characters and the messes they make. I love how things turn out for each character. You won’t believe it if I told you which I am not but it gets really exciting and downright hilarious, sad, heart wrenching, touching and loving. A lot goes on with no filler at all, every word has a reason. It was really thought out with a wonderful plot that is well written. The romance is touching in more ways than one. I read it at one setting I just could not put it down. I love it so much I have picked it as one of my favorite reads this year. You are going to die laughing, shake your head and wonder what in the world can they do next. The buildup is wonderful, the twists are delightful, and the characters add fuel to the fire. I love this Christmas in never never land and can’t wait to read it again.

Finding the Rainbow:

Finding the Rainbow: Chilton Crosse, Book 2

Written by: Traci Borum
Narrated by: Nancy Peterson
Length: 9 hrs and 56 mins
Series: Chilton Crosse, Book 2
Unabridged Audiobook

One women who gives up so much for her family but I do not think they really give her the credit she should have. I did have a hard time getting into this it might be because I had not read the book before. It was a very interesting plot with normal family drama. What really made it for me was the narrator she really adds a lot to this audio.

Ms. Peterson voice fit so well to this story she really brings out the characters with real emotions and feelings. She has such a smooth rich voice you forget you are listening and really get into the plot. Her female’s voices are just as great as her male voice. I could listen to her voice all day and not get tired of it. I just love her accent it really pulls you as it complements the plot setting. There are no repeat of works, no change in volume. If any breaks were taken I could not tell. The audio is clean, crisp and clear giving you a totally enjoyable listen. You have no trouble knowing who is talking and what they are feeling. Ms. Peterson has a powerful voice that deliverers and wonderful audio. This is the second book of hers I have listen to and can’t wait to listen to more.

Holly has put her dreams on hold with the death of her mother giving all her time to her family. This is a normal family with normal issues and drama. I thought the girls were on the spoiled side never really thinking about Holly and all she does for them. I do like the slow buildup from friends to more with Holly and Fletcher. There are issues they will have to overcome if they plan to build a life together. I really liked Holly and how she put family first. There does come a time when you have to say enough and make your own way in life. Holly has some very tough choices.

The town was a very lovely town that makes the reader what to go for a visit. The author really put a lot of time and thought into building it and the characters in it. I thought it was an enjoyable read even though I had a hard time really getting into it.

One Week in Your Arms

One Week in Your Arms (Love Heals All #1)
by Patricia Preston

I just adore stories of second chances that make you smile, feel good all over and pull you in from the first page. Ones with over powering men who know what they want and will do anything to get. Men who need to be taught a lesson or must learn from their mistakes with women who know how to stand on their own but really deep down just want that someone who keeps them smiling, with arms to fall into when the day is long, taking some of the hard times turning them around making you see a rainbow through the rain. I found all this and more in this story full of hope, love, fear, the unknown, misunderstandings, starting over, with humor, sorrow in community that gives back from a very talented author that gives you a story about family values, mistakes, love, longing and family. Yes it is a little predictable with a few surprises but it makes you smile and keeps you invested throughout the read.

Marla and Carson had a hot love affair things didn’t go as planned, they split up and tried to move on.  Neither could forget the other. When the opportunity knocked on Carson’s door he put a plan together to worm his way back into her life.  He thinks one week is all he will need to work her out of his system. Come hell or high water one week it will be in Hawaii with Marla being his fake girlfriend. He’ll gets some hot nights in the sun with his hot ex, she gets the money she needs to run her clinic it is a win, win for both of them or is it?

Marla fears of the unknown when and if Carson finds out about their daughter are true fears that any mother would feel. Fear has a way of making us do or say things we wouldn’t normal do. There were times I really wanted Marla to go ahead and get it over with but at the same time being a mother myself I understood why she didn’t and most likely would have done the same thing. With passion running high for them both something has to give and things must be worked out if they ever hope to have a HAE.

I thought the author brought real emotions into the story pulling very strong on the reader’s heartstrings. With very emotional issue that was written with love and care twisting and turning not only to the story but the reader’s heart as well.  It’s very well written giving a believable story that at times really broke my heart. I feel the supporting characters really added a lot to the story giving a very well round read. I found myself so invested I read this at one setting really wanting the story to not end. I would have liked to have seen more into their future I just wanted to continue reading with no ending in sight. I have not read anything by this author but really look forward to reading more of her work.  If you just want a feel good read full of emotion, chemistry of a love that never ended even when goodbyes were said that pulls you in giving you sorrow, humor, smiles heartbreak and a love that last through the years I hope you will give this story a read. I really enjoy it so much.
