The Prairie Doctor's Bride

The Prairie Doctor's Bride
by Kathryn Albright

This was such a delightful sweet read that really pulls the reader in with humor, showing how trying it can be for a single mother back when that was a bad thing. Poor Sylvia gave her trust to one man she knew since childhood. They moved on to start a new life with the promise to her parents they would marry with the first preach they came across. Things happen as the story goes the promise went unfilled. With her promise husband out of the picture his brother puts her in a place that isn’t good with him running his mouth and making demands. She stays to herself only coming to town only when she needs to. Your heart will go out to this lady when you see how people treat her and her son.

Nelson is making his list of what he wants in a women, we all know how that goes, list have a way of not adding up to our true feelings. Nelson wants someone to help in his practice but can’t find anyone. He decides what he needs is a wife who will take care of the home and help him in his business. You will get a chuckle at the brides to be that travels to this little town as he puts them to the test or are they putting him to the test.

Nelson is shocked when a little slip of a woman points a gun at him and demands he comes with her. This is where it gets very interesting with a cute and fun read as the author bring a little danger that will have your heart in your throat waiting for the outcome.  You have two people from different sides of the track who are attracted to each other but so very different from their up bring to the way they think and talk. Can one little lady show him what he thinks he needs isn’t what he needs at all?

Nelson has a big surprise coming his way when his mother comes to town which adds a lot to the story. At first I didn’t think too much of her and her snotty ways but she grows on you. I found myself giving her a piece of my mind thinking she is better than most. I really liked Sylvia son he was just a sweet child so full of life.  The town’s people can be a trying lot but they will grow on you. I really liked how you knew what each characters is thinking and what they are feeling. The author put a lot of time and thought into giving the reader a very entertaining read that holds your attention.  A great plot that moves fast with some excitement, thrills and a few chilling times. One that is full of surprises, heart break as two people find what they want might not be what they need. There is sadness, sorrow but a lot of smiles and laughs. I totally enjoyed this and can’t wait for the next one in this series to come out.
