Mirror, Mirror

Mirror, Mirror
by Jessica Jesinghaus

This is a new author to me having said that I have to say for the most part she held me spellbound with suspense, mystery and romance. There are some very touching, very in-depth, heart in your throat, yelling at the characters, and some very heart broken scenes. This is one author that really knows how to hold your attention giving you a compelling read that hooks you from the first page. There are so many different things you won’t see coming, a few shockers along the way. Very little filler used in this hang on to the edge of the seat read. At times I did have a hard time putting it down, I had to know what happen next. I had a hard time not going to the end to find out who the killer was.

The only issues I had was when Sam bought her house she went to her grandmother to get some of the few things she had in the basement. I was unsure why she didn’t go to her parent’s house to get some of the things there. It was like her parents died which really hurt her a lot but that was about it. What happen to their things?

I doubt you can read this and not have your heart go out to Sam from the first page she pulls you in when she goes to report on an accident and has her whole world turned upside down.  From there is seems she cannot get a break just one things after another. The plot is well thought out leaving the read guessing and wondering what in the world could happen next. I thought for the most part it was beautiful written, so much so I picked up the other books the author has out. She does have a free one and the others are only 99 cents at the time of this post.

The romance part is done nicely not overpowering and not a lot of detail from their most private moments. Her roommate is a delight and really holds your attention with her budding romance. It seems there are a lot of characters that are full of surprises and secrets, just when you think you have a handle the author throws you a spin. There are a lot of twists and turns that keep you on the edge. The characters find away to your heart in a short time, they become family and you become very invested in their lives and the outcome of the plot. I love the paranormal in it, the author writes it in a way that it is very believable. It’s like a guiding hand but doesn’t give it all away.  If you like mystery, romance, and suspense in your stories you are so going to love this. But hang on to your hats you are in for one heck of a ride.

Always a Lawman (Blue River Ranch #1)

Always a Lawman (Blue River Ranch #1)
by Delores Fossen

One night and an injustice that changed so many people’s lives destroying so much from love to friendship. Ms. Fossen gives an action packed thrilling read from the first page holding your attention while keeping you hanging on to the edge. Some questions are answered but one is still left open and will be played out through the series. The hints are there for you to work out the attacker but if you are like me you won’t work it out. This is one author that holds her cards close to her chest giving you a taste of the outcome but keeping you guess who did it.

There was really nothing I didn’t like about this story. The plot was outstanding, fast moving, one thrill to the next, keeping you guessing why holding your attention. There is a lot going on from mystery, attacks, murder, mask men just come out of the wood work. The attacker is trying hard to cover his tracks but it is getting harder with his victim saying she remember much more that she does 10 years after the fact trying to pull him out in hopes of setting her father free.

My mind is blown to think about going through what Jodi has leaving you scared and afraid even after so many years.  Her attacker has taken the small things in life from her, things we do without thinking about it. As a character Jodi is strong, she stands proud but does have panic attacks who could blame her. If it had been me I most likely would never leave my home. There is a whole list of people who could be behind it leaving her guessing as to her she can trust. The only one for sure is her old love which never happens for many reasons. She knows she can trust him since he parents were killed by the same man who attacked her. The attraction is still as strong but she has issues she must overcome before she can think about having a man in her life.

Gabriel feels guilty for some many reason one he wasn’t there to saved his parents two he turned Jodi away the night she came to him trying to seduce him. He knows he did the right thing, things just would not have worked out for them. She was of age but just barely and needed to see the world feel the things most teens do. Now he has to find the killer, keep her safe when she wants to go it alone and keep her at arms links. He has got his work cut out for him. At every turn there is something new, new people ending up dead, no threats, a bigger puzzle filled with mystery.

From the first page you are holding your breath until the last page. There isn’t much filler here at all just one thrill, action after another. The two main characters still feel that pull from many years ago and have a hard time keeping their hands off each other for many different reasons. The romance is good, easy and moves at a nice paces. Really they are meant to be together, the complement each other so well. A lot stands in their way from her father killing his parents or did he, to family, friends and a lot more. I totally enjoyed this action paced thriller. If you love mystery, intrigue along with your romance you are going to love this one.

Length: 1 hr and 34 mins
Unabridged
Release date: 10-18-17
Language: English

This is a short audio it is filled with a lot of good writing. Lee’s rehab isn’t going so well, he doesn’t like to listen to orders that he doesn’t agree with. He has a problem with standing down and wants to take control shooting as many  aliens as he can which gets him more than he bargains for.

Mr Tyler kept me laughing with his different character voices. The cooks were something else. Lee is a very dry man but has a little humor what makes him more funnier is that he thinks his speaker is off and it isn’t. His boss female voice was great as well as the child’s. He gives you a wide range of tones and voices all are very different. It is very easy to know who is talking and what they are feeling. There is no background noises, no repeating of words and if any breaks were taken I could not tell. The volume never changed from one chapter to the next it was a very clean and clear audio that I really enjoyed. For me the narrator really bought the story to life, I had no trouble picturing the aliens or the characters trying to save their way of life as well as their life. He really did a wonderful performance.

The plot was good, the story very believable. I had no trouble buying into it. I loved the bricking between Lee and his boss. I would call it foreplay lol. I enjoyed the characters, loved the humor and really was hooked. There is a little romance not over powering but very nicely written. The author uses no fillers at all but gives the reader action from the start until the end. The ending was a little surprising but ends well. I would have liked it to have gone on a little longer to see how Lee’s boss took to the outcome but it was a good ending.

Texas-Sized Trouble

Texas-Sized Trouble (Wrangler's Creek #4)
by Delores Fossen

I do love my sexy cowboys, add a little romance, a strong women willing to take him on, second chance at love, fortune teller making one of her crazy prediction after another, crazy fans, ex lover, a new baby, a teenager who is mad, along with some wonderful crazy friends and family and you have me hooked. What is there not to love about this story. You have all above along with humor, laughs, smiles, secrets, crazy fans and so much more.

Eve is in a world of trouble in so many ways from her past to her here and now. Her one night stand seems to keep haunting her along with her fans. She is done with show business but they won’t let her be. Her big secret from her past is about to catch up with her which will tear not only her family apart but her true love that she left so many years ago because of the events leading up to it was just so over whelming that neither her or Lawson could get over or overcome it. I think out of all the characters my heart goes out for her the most. Yes they all had a lot to deal with back then but she had some really tough choice to make with no help making them. I really think she made the right ones and if I were in her shoes I would have done the same thing.

All it takes is one night, a stupid choice so they seem to think, and a night of passion thinking of their needs to put both of them on a guilt trip to last a lifetime. When you get the full story you are wondering who is really to blame, who should have stepped in and how in the world would anyone have known. Lots of people see the same things they did every year and not one of them would have thought any different than they did. Most are lucky to not have the same turn out. It is still a heartbreaking scene that really hits the reader hard.

Lawson has a hard time facing not only his past but the girl in it. She ran out on him when he needed her the most but didn’t he tell her he wished he never had meant her….WOW he said that and so much more when he was young and dumb, things he is still saying today that is until his world falls out from under him leaving him in a tailspin like no other.

Both are on a guilt trip that leads to nightmares of one night when things got out of hand losing them both a very good friend. They can never go back and redo the past and will never be able to tell their friend how sorry they are. If things aren’t bad enough for Eve coming home facing her past trying to find peace for her unborn baby, her adopted daughter is on a war path like no other keeping Eve spinning out of control.

I just love the crazy fortune teller Vita who just keeps coming, loved her chicken and how Lawson deals with her. When the baby comes you will laugh yourself silly. I kept saying what, how did that happen. Lawson does end up the hero in many ways, he just stole my heart from his caring ways, to being bullheaded, his anger, and how he deals with so many issues, sometimes not in the best of ways. He does have a weakness for Eve and the bottle, he must overcome both. Eve has her weakness as well one being Lawson. Being a big movie star she stole my heart when she put her family first. I adored Lawson family and Eve’s friend. I didn’t care so much for Kellan even at the end with his endearing ways he was a butt.

This was a big win for me in so many ways. I loved the romance, the second chance at love, the way the plot builds, the secret, mystery, humor and the list goes on. It was a very well thought out plot, very well written.  The characters you can relate with, you understand where they are coming from even if you see the errors of their ways.  I have not read any in this series but really want to I have to wonder what I have missed.  I have gone and bought the three audio’s and the other books in this series even a few that are up for pre order. I can’t want to sink my eyes in them. This was truly a wonderful read you do not want to miss.
