I thought this was a very interesting thriller built around paranormal or supernatural based on psychic, crime and murder of one man and his need for power. At first I though Mr. Fredericks was after knowledge but it soon become clear he is a mad man who wants to control people. The Hollow is a pretty fast pace with some action, danger that the victims fine they can’t fight and are willing to do a mad mans bidding. There are so many twists and turns you don’t know what to believe or who to trust.

The narrator does a pretty good job of narration there are a few places where there is a small volume change it isn’t when a break was taken it is more of emotion that is a little out of place. There are a few places where a pause was taken a little too soon but not enough to take away from the audio. Her character voices are pleasant as well as her normal voice. A few of her voices are a little too close to her natural voice but you know which character is talking. For the most part the character voices flow easy and evenly throughout the audio. There was no background noise and I could not tell if any breaks were taken. The music that was used fit the story very well not to over powering, not to loud or to soft, it blended well with the story. I thought the voices for the most part fit the characters. I always knew who was talking and what they were feeling. Her emotions for the most part were good I could feel how scared Carol was. I did enjoy her narration and feel with a little time as she grows so will become more powerful and will exceed in her deliverance.

First let’s go over what I didn’t care for. I didn’t care for the way the story started out, sexual present right from the start I thought took away from the beginning of the story. I feel it would have been more powerful a little later on. I just didn’t care how some of the first part was presented.  The author does a great job in showing what the hollow is but I would have liked a little more information at the ending of it.

With that said shall we move on? The author as a very unique writing style that really pulls the listener in taking them on a journey of the unknown with new technology and the powers they may bring. I really liked how things played out with Carol from her unknowing to her feeling of being watch, her reaction is so natural. I had no trouble feeling the fear she hold deep inside not only from the hollow but from those that were suppose to love her and the people watching her. As her powers come to light and start taking over the fear is real the control over her is frightening as well as her need to learn how to control whatever it is. Her relationship with Matthew is so free and easy, no lines but they grew up together so it is natural they are very easy with each other. Even though the sexual tension was too soon it slows easy. The unknown, the difference between bodies and the control it has is natural as it would be with most teens trying things for the first time. It is a pretty clean read the author bases the story over the hollow, what it is and the control of not only it but of the people around her trying to bring her in and take control. I loved watching her learn what the hollow is and what all she could do with it. The murders, the how things unfolded effected her very much. I had no trouble feeling the pain of what she was going through, what she had done or those she loved when she found out they may have played a big part in the things that are happening to her. Even I had my doubts to the people around her. Oh there is no doubt from the start no one will like Mr. Fredericks and as I learned more I wished I could do a few things to him he did to others. The author does an outstanding job pulling the reader in giving you a page turner. I just had to know what happen next that I had trouble turning the audio off.  The mystery and a few surprise along with some action, the unknown, hurt, pain and sorrow awaits you but also some smiles, pleasures and kindness. Nothing is as it seem, trust no one but yourself. If it isn’t been twisted it will be and you will be saying what the heck just happened. I totally enjoyed this and can’t wait to listen to more work from this author.

Saving Grace

Saving Grace

By: Aubrey Wynne

Narrated by: Sara K. Sheckells

Length: 3 hrs and 16 mins

Unabridged

Release date: 12-05-17

Language: English

The story’s title and cover fits the story so well! There are so many interesting twists and turns as well as historical facts that really kept this story interesting and moving. I really loved how the past played with the future. How eerie it all seemed you didn’t know whether to run and hide or wrap your arms around it.  My heart broke for both Chloe and Grace they have a lot in common but are so different. They are kind souls who give so much to those around them.

Ms. Wynne is a wonderful author that really pulls the listener in giving the correct tones and pauses that really shows how talented she is. Her character voice are a delight from her sexy males to her sweet females. She even had Chloe’s ex down to the point that you knew something was very wrong with this man. Her emotions are wonderful she has such caring tones, don’t let that fool you she has no trouble reaching in and bring the angry ones to the surface. The author really knows how to play on your emotion giving you a believable author you have no trouble believing it is real. As I listened I could see Chloe with her beloved horses, the danger they faced and how much she loved the dog.  The audio I think is much better than reading it the narrator brings so much to this story really touching your heart giving you emotion you can hold on to. There are no background noises, no repeating of words, and no volumes changes just a truly enjoyable clean and clear listen. Her emotions are right on the money you always know what each character is thinking and feeling. Her performance was outstanding which made this a win, win listen for me.

Chloe’s ex is a real piece of work you have to wonder how Chloe got caught up into his world and how in the world she was able to walk away with, he just doesn’t seem like the man who would let you divorce him. No he has never hit her yet but there are many ways of abuse. Sometimes I think playing with the mind is the worse abuse anyone can go through. You can’t see it, you have no clue but it hurts and is very really. The author has no trouble showing what kind of man her ex is as she takes you through the pace of him wanting her back and what all he is willing to do to get what he wants.  I just loved her mother and her partner’s characters they are both witty and charming.  I love how her mother is always nice to her daughters ex but still come across with that sassy attitude that many can’t pull off.

Chloe is just a wonderful character that gives so much. Grace lord what that women went through and what she still must be going through to still be here after so many years. The author gives you a delightful twist of two women and how their lives help the other to get over pain and deal with the issues they must.  With Grace I just wanted to grab, hug her and keep her safe. The lies that were told about her and the punishment that her neighbors dealt out to her are just so bad. How she deals with the future will make you smile. Chloe’s new friend is so funny, I loved how he dealt with the ghost. I really laughed hard at that. This was a fun read that really keeps you smiling but it is also very sad with your emotions twisting first one way and then another.

I enjoyed the way the author went from past to present really pulling the read in. The mystery was a delight. How the past and the present came together was fun. The power the ghost had really had me on the edge at the end. I was yelling YES YES you go Grace, don’t let him get away…you got this Grace. Grace you are my HERO. The author gives a wonderful story of two women fighting to keep what is theirs showing their strength, love and courage to put one foot in front of the other why the world around them goes crazy.

The new romance and the way it plays in the story is just so natural I LOVE IT. It is a well blended story of a little of everything that makes it a wonderful audio. The ending is a shocker but what an ending, I just did not want this audio to end I wanted to see more of these characters and how their lives turned out.

Mirror, Mirror

Mirror, Mirror
by Jessica Jesinghaus

This is a new author to me having said that I have to say for the most part she held me spellbound with suspense, mystery and romance. There are some very touching, very in-depth, heart in your throat, yelling at the characters, and some very heart broken scenes. This is one author that really knows how to hold your attention giving you a compelling read that hooks you from the first page. There are so many different things you won’t see coming, a few shockers along the way. Very little filler used in this hang on to the edge of the seat read. At times I did have a hard time putting it down, I had to know what happen next. I had a hard time not going to the end to find out who the killer was.

The only issues I had was when Sam bought her house she went to her grandmother to get some of the few things she had in the basement. I was unsure why she didn’t go to her parent’s house to get some of the things there. It was like her parents died which really hurt her a lot but that was about it. What happen to their things?

I doubt you can read this and not have your heart go out to Sam from the first page she pulls you in when she goes to report on an accident and has her whole world turned upside down.  From there is seems she cannot get a break just one things after another. The plot is well thought out leaving the read guessing and wondering what in the world could happen next. I thought for the most part it was beautiful written, so much so I picked up the other books the author has out. She does have a free one and the others are only 99 cents at the time of this post.

The romance part is done nicely not overpowering and not a lot of detail from their most private moments. Her roommate is a delight and really holds your attention with her budding romance. It seems there are a lot of characters that are full of surprises and secrets, just when you think you have a handle the author throws you a spin. There are a lot of twists and turns that keep you on the edge. The characters find away to your heart in a short time, they become family and you become very invested in their lives and the outcome of the plot. I love the paranormal in it, the author writes it in a way that it is very believable. It’s like a guiding hand but doesn’t give it all away.  If you like mystery, romance, and suspense in your stories you are so going to love this. But hang on to your hats you are in for one heck of a ride.
