Falling Hard (Falling Fast #2)
by Tina Wainscott
My Review
This was a slow start for me but once it took off it took off and I couldn't put the book down. The author gives a powerful story of never giving up and always going for what you want. Life is to short you need to fight for what is important as Pax did he was a true man of honor even when he may lose his family he believed the fight was worth it and give his all. No means No, no matter when, where or what it is NO. The author gives a wonderful heart breaking story of misunderstanding, angry, one man taking something he shouldn't have, peer pressure along with family pressure. We all make bad choices that change our lives sometimes we can make them right but you can never outrun them. Gemma had to come home to face those choices she made years ago that set a whole town against her. As she faces them she must also face the one man that held her attention through it all the bad boy along with his brother who raped her. As the author said sometimes faith has a mind of her own.
Pax is a stand up guy who is honorable he might have been the bad boy in school. He was just trying to fit in and find his way with a family he could never do anything right for. One day he gave up and did things his way. When Gemma returns to town he is taken back by the attraction they still have. He is pulled in two different directions and not sure which one is the right one. Once he puts all the pieces together he is in for a fight of his life to keep the women he loves, the sister he adores and to try to find peace with his family. It is up to him to set a wrong right which he will do if it is the last thing he does. In doing so he might lose the girl along with his family...
For Gemma the hardest thing is facing ones mistakes and past. All the whispers, the name calling, the hate talk, it is hard but she will make a stand for her father. The hardest part is having to face her attacker knowing he got away with rape. She must find a way to deal with it, help her father and face the man who held her heart way back when and then get the heck out of there before more damage can be done to her. Gemma story is a very touching read, she must learn to trust, love and be held when it is the last things she wants.
I found this to be a very powerful read with so many losers in the game of life. Gemma doesn't trust anyone, she has no friends, she doesn't fit anywhere. She doesn't believe in herself and like so many women before her dresses down in big bag clothes not to draw attention to her. The attraction is as strong as it was the day they met now both Gemma and Pax will have to fight it, or give in. The author gives you a story inside a story about his little sister and how they deal with her issues. A very wonderful girl who everyone but Pax doesn't want to let her grow up. I won't tell you more or it will give it away. This was really a very touching read in more than one way. It is a story that will stick with me long after I have put the book down. It is a story I will reread again. It is a wonderful story of second chances but is so much more. It is about bravery, taking a stand, getting your life back and fighting the fight of truth. It is truly a wonderful romance of starting over and overcoming your past.
Ms. Wainscott tells a wonderful story that will break your heart and you keep hoping they take down one man and hopefully his father. There are many secretes that have been hidden over the years along with a few new ones. This is an author you will want to come to know who will pull you in and take you way. When you close this book you will leave with a smile on your face leaving characters you wish you knew better. I really enjoyed this story and I hope you will to.

Book Description
In bestselling author Tina Wainscott’s gritty, emotional small-town romance—perfect for fans of Jasinda Wilder and Colleen Hoover—passions run high as a reformed bad boy reconnects with an old enemy . . . and gets her engine revving.
There’s no one Pax Sullivan wants to run into less than Gemma Thornton. Back in high school, she revved his heart more than street racing. But she picked his clean-cut brother over him—only to accuse Blake of an unforgivable crime. Eventually the charges were dropped and Gemma left town, but the hard feelings lingered . . . along with Pax’s gnawing “what-ifs.” Seven years later, just as he quits the police force to open a racetrack, Gemma’s back—and their chemistry is more combustible than ever.
If it were up to her, Gemma would never lay eyes on another Sullivan. She hates them, and they hate her—even Pax, who just so happens to be fixing up her father’s B&B. But the more time she spends with the lean, hard-bodied ex-cop at the inn and on the track, the more Gemma sees that Pax is nothing like his brother. Despite their anguished history, she’s tempted to take their relationship into high gear . . . if she can face the past and risk her heart.
