Whispers on the Wind

Whispers on the Wind
by Caroline Fyffe

My Review
It did not take much for me to fall not only in love with this book but its characters. Mrs. Fyffe knows how to create a story that captivates you not only by the plot but its wonderful scenes and heroic characters. I was sucked in from the start with a plot you think you have it all worked out until this author throws a few major twists in your way giving romance a whole new meaning. You will be cheering Tabitha and Hunter on as they butt heads over and over again as they worm their way deep into your heart. What you will find in this delightful story are bad guys, good guys, saloon, cowboys, saloon girls, friends, family some nice and some not so nice, lies, secrets, hard times, good times, a kidnapping, fights, gun fights, lovely name calling that will make you laugh and so much more as this author entertains you with her very talented writing.

Tabitha is a woman after my own heart as she takes the bull by the horn going west to live her own life away from her controlling mother who has handpicked a man for her to marry. She isn’t happy with her pick and just wants to live her life reading and selling books. She finds what she is looking for in the wonderfully sweet town of Logan Meadows where her aunt and uncle live. She is happy that is as happy as a woman can be with no one to hold and love. She lives her life havesher business, family and wonderful friends around her. She is happy that is until one handsome stranger comes in town turning her world upside down making her mind of a husband and family.

Hunter does a job for a man who cannot pay him, in return the man gives him half of a saloon the kicker is his new partner doesn’t know about this and isn’t too happy when he finds out. Hunter is tired of moving around and wants to settle put some roots down the saloon is just what he needs. He takes one look at the beautiful Tabitha and wishes he could make her his own. Knowing this isn’t going to happen she is way above him he gets to know the town and the people, than he breaks the news to his new partner. Tempters rise and things get a little out of hand leaving Hunter with trying to make the best of it and dreaming about Tabitha.

One thing leads to another and before you know the author throws some twist on you that will leave you smiling and a few with your mouth hung open. I loved the humor along with the true meaning of friendship, family and love the author brings to this story. I really enjoyed the baiting back and forward between Tabitha and Hunter along with some other members of the town. It was a pleasure to get to see some of my old favorite characters and where they are in their life and what is new with them. There are some characters I came to like and then not like so much. Tabitha’s mother is something else but she will grow on you. I did have a few good laughs at her expense lol. I dearly loved Violet I would have loved to have been part of her family, she is a witty old women whose heart is as big at the moon. She gives so much but she doesn’t take much crap. You want to stay on this woman good side for sure. The way Tabitha and Hunters romance plays out is so delightful and refreshing. You are in for such a treat watching these two fight their attraction as they get into disagreements, and the mess they make they are having a hard time keeping their hands off each other. Jealousy can be a bad thing and I truly think Tabitha’s aunt really loves her but is jealous of her. There is nothing worse than family sticking their nose in your life telling you what to do when you are 29 and fully able to run your own life. I love small towns where everyone knows everyone, they help each other giving so much back to the town and its people. The romance build up is slow and steady with a few twists. This is a story you will forget you are reading as it takes over your mind pulling you in taking you away giving you smiles after smiles along with a few heart breaks. It was a book I could not put down I had to know how each twist would play out. Things are still up in the air with Jake, Daisy and his mother but that is another story I can’t wait to read.

This is Mrs. Fyffe at her finest giving you a highly exciting entertaining read. If you haven’t read any of her books you should give this one a try. I highly recommend any of her books or audios they are truly wonderful, humorous, exciting, thrilling, with a little danger and along with a lot of love she gives each one.

After a lifetime guiding settlers across the prairie, Hunter Wade isn’t looking to stay put in Logan Meadows. But as a partner in the Bright Nugget saloon, he’s determined to turn a profit—and if that puts him in competition with Miss Hoity-Toity Canterbury, that’s fine. Under Her Spell (Keystone Predators #1)

Under Her Spell (Keystone Predators #1)
by Brandy Walker

My Review
This was a fast pace different kind of read that was delightfully refreshing. I can hardly wait until the next one come out and I can learn more about this wonderful group of shifters. This is the first book I have read of this author which had me hook from start to finish. I just could not put it down and read it at one setting. The author gives you a little bit of mystery along with some suspense as one witch/shifter tries to find her place meeting her mate but getting pushed away at every turn. There is miscommunication which leads to misunderstanding, confusion and trust issues. Ms. Walker gives you romance at its finest as she spins a wonderful plot with delightful characters that keep you smiling.

Daphne is in a mess as her father’s wife wants her to give up the witch side of her and her mother wants her to give up the shifter side.  Her stepmother is pure evil who wants revenge for her father having her with another woman.  When Daphne comes home for her cousins wedding things are not easy with all the hate around her and the attraction she has for Diego her world is on a tailspin. When her witchy side comes out Diego has trouble dealing with it and Daphne takes it as he doesn’t want her. She makes plans to leave but at every turn Diego puts up a road block.

Diego has to meet the groom’s cousin at the airport. He gets off on the wrong foot right ways being late and then checking out other women.  He gets a funny feeling when he sees Daphne but can’t put his finger on it. He loves to play the field and really isn’t looking to setting down until he can find his true mate. He has all but given up on finding her. By the time he comes to understand his mate is right before his eyes things get out of hand leaving him with egg on his face. Every time he puts a good step forward to take his mate life gets in the way which causes misunderstanding. The little witch herself has put up road blocks but he is having none of that. He is on the hunt and he will get his prey.

I loved the humor and the pranks they play. The characters were a refreshing delight they brings so much to the story. I really felt sorry for her father and all he has to deal with. The bride is something else her and Daphne to seem to stay in trouble over one thing or the other that will keep you laughing. The author gives you some very hot steamy scenes that will have you fanning yourself as she takes you on a ride of pleasure, love and romance. I loved everything about this book from the plot to each character. I can’t wait to pick up the next one in this series.

Secret Crush

Secret Crush
by Victoria Pinder

My Review
I really enjoyed this it was a very interesting read. The author gives you very interesting characters with a good plot. There are a lot of twists and turns some you won’t see coming. John is with the FBI he has made it his life work to bring his father and his friends down. He wants revenge for his sister’s death that he is sure his father had something to do with.  On returning home for his father’s funeral he gets a few shocks one being the little girl he knew years ago is all grown up and a knock out. Alice was best friends with John’s sister for Alice losing Vicki was hard. She feels she owe it to Vicki memory to support their family in their hour of need. She has always had a crush on John seeing him again really knock her for a loop when she sees him again. As they talk they find danger all around them. Not knowing who to trust he takes her home with him to keep her safe with shot brake out. Things get very hot and heavy between them.

Alice’s mother is a true nut case flipping from one thing to another. I wouldn’t want to live with her either. I really like John I thought he moved way to fast but it did make it a cute and at time funny read. I never really understood John’s brother he comes off as a bad guy but then is likable. There are big surprises about his sister’s death with a lot of unanswered questions which I am sure will be answered in book 2. Alice is very likable she is a little on the innocent side. This could turn out to be a wonderful series with lots of secrets to uncover.

I really liked the characters and I loved the danger. I did have some issues with some of the story that I just found to be unbelievable. A heel is broken off a shoe but her heels click together when she is upset. I am taking it as she was wearing her heels but if one broke off how could she? Then the author might have meant they were heels of her feet. If her mouth was taped shut how could she talk without it being removed? I do not want to give the story away so I will say there were a few other issues like this that makes me give this a lower star.

All in all it was a good read with a great plot that could turn into a wonderful series. I can see a lot of people enjoying this. Besides the issue I had I thought it the style of writing was great.

My Review
I totally loved this story and all the characters that keep you smiling and laughing the whole way through this outstanding listen. I have read this book and totally loved it. After listening to the audio I am even more in love these characters and this town. I love Ms. Farrell’s writing style I know if I am every down or having a bad day I only have to pick up one of her books to put my smile back on my face.  Once you pick up one of her book you will have no doubts to why she is one of my go to authors.  I love her sense of humor how she always wears a smile that you can read in her writing.

Ms. White as narrator blew me away with how she got the voice to match each character. When you read a book in your mind you picture what they look like and what they sound like. Ms. White hit it right on the money for me. She really brought this story to life making it very easy to picture the scenes in your mind which gave it even more humor.  There are no background noises or any breaks take that I can tell. The volume is nice and easy never higher or lower giving you a very smooth listen. Her male voices are outstanding CJ’s is very sexy smooth that you get lost in. Her female voices are wonderful fitting each character as if they were made for them. Ms. White has a very pleasant voice that is smooth, sexy and exciting when it needs to be. I found myself doing things I have been putting off doing so I could listen longer. You have no trouble know each emotion and what each character is feeling at any given time. You can hear the pain, sorrow, hope, happiness and love each character in the tones as Ms. White brings the story to life. I am looking forward to listening to more from this narrator.

The book takes place in the town of Bliss where the whole town is about happy ever after. Bliss is the merriest town on earth they take this title very seriously live for weddings and the games. Knot Fest and The Husband Games is an annual event where men play against each other in a series of challenges in order to be declared Husband of the Year.

Natalie is a divorce single mother who is on The Aisle (which would be main street to us) and is running her mother’s bridal shop. Her mother was the head of and ran The Husband Games until she died. She is doing everything she can to make this the best games ever in her loving memory. The Queen General is doing her best to make Natalie’s life a living hell as she tries to make her leave the Aisle and hopefully the town. The Aisles is no place for a divorce women they have high standard and Natalie must go. Natalie is taking all the QG is dishing out just hanging on long enough to do the games one last time for her mother. Both women get their digs and do not mind fighting dirty keep you laughing.  If that isn’t hard enough to deal with CJ is back in town he is the one man she can’t forget and would rather not see. Natalie said he destroyed her marriage in just a few minutes when they played the husband games leaving her embarrassed walking the road of shame.  When they finally come face to face after they have nice chat (you are going to love this chat and die laughing through it) he doesn’t remember anything about her and is surprised she said he destroyed her marriage. She is just like this town crazy, he does his best to stay out of her way until he can leave. It does seem their paths keep crossing which has the GQ up in arms spiting flames (well maybe not that bad but it isn’t pretty). One does not mess with the GQ she has been known to raise the tides, move mountain well you get the idea.

CJ is back for a wedding but he would rather be anywhere else. He is from a big family that has a way of driving a man crazy. He wants to make this a fast quick stop and move on. His parents have named their entire family for spices.  It is going to drive you nuts trying to work out CJ’s name. Once you find out what it is you will die laughing. If my name was this I wouldn’t be giving it out either.  CJ is a sweet man who is haunted by his past and the death of his wife knowing he could have done better by her.  Now he has the guilt of wanting Natalie and the trouble he has caused her. She might be crazy but it seems he is into crazy. The GQ wants him to play in the Husband Game to honor his dead wife. Natalie wants him to leave town. Hum I wonder who will win this battle.

One things leads to another and sparks fly why tempter rise as passion takes control.  Have they found their match or will the QG win this war of the Husband Games. One thing is for sure she has a few tricks up her sleeves she has plans for CJ which sure do not include Natalie. Can Natalie stay one step ahead of the QG or will the QG run Natalie out of town. Can CJ get over his past making Bliss his home or will he run for the hill at the first chance. What about their feelings for each other will they keep fighting their attraction or give in and let the cards fall where they may.

Jamie is a very talented author who knows how to pull her readers in giving them a highly entertaining read. She keeps her readers invested in her characters cheering them on as we laugh ourselves silly. She gives you down to earth characters who are a little on the crazy side which fits in just perfect with my sense of humor.  She is one of the few authors I can read her books over and over again never getting tired. I know what is coming but it still keeps me laughing time and time again. There is no doubt after reading one of her books you will be smiling and laughing the whole way through as it reaches deep in you with a meaning you can relate to.  I cannot wait to listen to the rest of this series on audio. If you haven’t read any of her work this would be a great one to start with I promise you will be smiling from the beginning to the end.
