One Eyed Jack

One Eyed Jack
By: Christopher J. Lynch
Narrated by: Tom Jordan
Length: 5 hrs and 35 mins
Unabridged
Release date: 01-17-18

One eye Jack is like no other blackmailer I have ever read about. There is no doubt the man loves his money and has no trouble finding enough marks to keep him in lots of it. He is also a man with a heart just when you think this man is lower than dirt the author twists the story making him somewhat a hero in your eyes. Don’t get me wrong he is a very bad man who should be in jail. Jack is a unique man who is very, very complex. He is a user and will use anybody who gets in his way. He will shake you down make you pay and then make you do his bidding. The author gives you a wild, exciting, dangerous and funny read that holds your attention.

The narrator as always does a wonderful job from his character voices to the emotion even the dry tone he uses for Jack just fits the characters. His character voices are wonderful you always know who is talking and what they are feeling. His male to female voice to the different character voice changes are smooth, and even. He gives the right tones for the scenes you can hear the fear, excitement, danger in the characters voices. His performance is just outstanding. There is no background noises, no volume changes, no repeating of words just a very clean and clear audio that pulls you in. The narrator has a very smooth rich voice which is wonderful, his normal voice is just pleasant and enjoyable. It seemed like one delightful read with no breaks taken. He really bought Jack alive for me, and I am not sure I would have pictured him the same way had I just read and not listened. I had no trouble picturing the scenes as they were laid out. Mr. Jordan really made this a run listen that I got lost in.

When I first started listening to this I thought Jack just does not have a soul but as the author throws a few twists in you see he does. He does care about people, but he isn’t afraid to use them to reach his goal and if an injustice is done (not by him but someone else) he isn’t afraid to stand up and make it right or even by his thoughts. Jack is a very interesting character that I came to like very much. I really enjoyed the twists and turns, the humor, along with a few heart stopping moments, the action and the thrills. The author put a lot of thought into each character and how they would be portrayed. My heart did break for a few of them and others I didn't feel very sorry for. I really enjoyed that he was working on more than one case at a time. I loved how he got into messes and got out of them. This was a very interesting and exciting listen that leaves you with your mouth hung open a time or two. You will chuckle and laugh and even talk to a few characters. A very well written story that keeps you hanging on and not being able to put it down. I am really looking forward to reading the next one in this series.

"In One-Eyed Jack, author Christopher J. Lynch has created a multifaceted main character who will instantly grip readers from the moment he steps onto the stage. Her Passionate Hero

Her Passionate Hero (Black Dawn #3)
by Caitlyn O'Leary

There is nothing funny about bullying as this author shows through many years and hurtful people one women is still fighting the bullies in her school but now she is fighting them for the students she watches over as vice principal. Aliana has gotten in over her head when her ex students step up the game putting her life in danger because she is trying to help others overcome their past and get out of the gangs. Some could really have a wonderful life and do something with it, being able to help others with what they have learned with the money they could be making. This is a very emotional, compassionated, heartfelt read from the here and now dealing with bullies and the past where one love that got away. This is a powerful outstanding story of second chances for more than one couple but students that have so much potential. Can these kids get out and make something of their selves and can one man and one woman who have always meant everything to each other overcome the pain, face the past and find the love that they always shared without anyone getting killed?

I loved the danger, the near death and the outcome of helping children make a better life. The author really pulls you in holding you on the edge with your heart in your throat as one group threatens Aliana in ways that will make you yell and want to grab her out of the pages. That is until one hero from the past comes and deals with them keeping you on your toes as he takes over putting a plan into action stealing not only Aliana heart but your own.

There are so many wonderful parts from the seal brothers coming together putting some gang members in their place to the laughter of the little old women who steal your hearts. They are something else. Yes this is a serious book but Hunter has a way about him that makes you smile as he does his best to keep Aliana, her mother and grandmother safe while spreading the smiles, laughs and joy. The teasing between the seal brothers is so natural you can’t help but chuckle. When the little old ladies do their best to help you have to laugh as you roll your eyes just like Hunters does. The grandmothers are something else as they do their best to do a little match making. This is a wonderful story showing how love can conquer bring so many people together for one common goal. The name fits this book to a T there is so much passion, love and hero’s that will bring a tear to your eye, a smile to your face and make you laugh out loud.

The characters are great even the gang members your heart goes out to a few so many people who need so much but only a few can be helped. Aliana is a strong, capable woman who doesn’t like to ask for help. She sees herself totally different than those around her. I loved how Hunter shows her just how truly beautiful she is inside and out. Hunter is just an amazing man who is strong but for the right person he isn’t afraid to show his pain, his love is raw you have no trouble feeling every emotion he feels. There is one boy I just wanted to grab and hold I was just so proud of him and all he does. Out of everyone I think he was my hero, I would have loved to have watch him become a man.  Aliana friend is a trip an a half, a very bold woman I just adored. I loved how the author shows each characters true self, the wit, their pain and their love. Ms. O'Leary knows how to draw her readers in showing that people are not perfect but at the same time making the perfect in so many ways. The passion is strong I really liked how there was sexual tension with some very powerful love scenes. When they finally come together it is mind blowing.  From the first page until the last the author held me in the palm of her hand. I enjoyed the twists and turns, excitement, danger never knowing what will happen next. At times I didn’t know how it was going to turn out my heart was in my throat. I found myself yelling, talking to the characters as well as saying you go girl. I had no trouble at all feeling  Aliana pain from the past to the future as well as Hunters pain of the not knowing, confusion and heart break. It was an outstanding read from start to finish. I couldn’t put it down and plan to read it along with the rest of this series. It is truly one outstanding read from an author who knows how to writing giving you a touching, exciting, thrilling, and delightful read you are going to love.

Fear Of Malice

Fear Of Malice - the malice series 2
By Karen Fenech

This picks up where the Breath of Malice left off, it is a little slow pace but still an exciting filled with mystery and danger. When one of their own is caught red handed leaning over a dead body covered in blood and his knife in the man’s chest puts Riley under arrest for a murder he said he didn’t do.  This leaves Sam and Paige on the hunt for a killer as the stumble across some evidence that takes them back 8 years to another murder of one of their own.  As they unravel all the clues they find the picture is much bigger than they ever would have thought.  The hunt is on for a killer with much bigger plans and time is running out.

Paige has been through so much as she fights to keep her job, the man she loves and so much more.  The powers that be want to take her out of the field and put her behind a deck because of the injuries she sustained while on the job hunting down a serial killer. Her disability keeps her from chasing down the bad guy. Her foot might not be up to par but there is nothing wrong with her mind and her ability to put them behind bars where they need to be. Sam is putting up one heck of a fight to keep her on his team but the head boss is putting up as big of a fight. Paige has to prove not only to them but to herself that she can still do her job. Sam doing his best to keep her safe but something are out of his hands as the killer gets near the danger is bigger.

Sam has it coming from all directions from his boss, Paige, now his friend and agent is behind bars for a murder he didn’t commit.  As they chase down the leads it brings them closer to home then they ever want to be.  More than one life is on the line with Paige right in the middle of the battle.

The author gives you a very entertaining read that holds your interest, it moves at a steady pace filled with mystery. I never would have guesses who the killer was or all that he was hiding. Paige really has so much against her I sure hope all that she pulls off on this case gives her what she needs not only for herself but her bosses to show she can still do her job. It was a hard book to put down leaving me in a hurry to get to the end. I really felt so sorry for the killer’s wife and all she had to deal with. I had no trouble feeling the pain and sorrow that Paige and Sam was going through.  Riley’s girlfriend has so much to deal with from her brother to her boyfriend being blamed for the murder.  I really enjoyed learning more about the team, the struggles of both Sam and Paige. You have no doubt how he feels about her but is still able to keep his professionally and private live separate.  The plot is wonderful very thought out with great details that really add to this series. The characters are wonderful with depth and meaning. Heck you even feel sorry for Lonny but mostly for his sister and what he did to her. The author really pulls on your heartstrings in so many ways. The ending is exciting leaving you holding your breath waiting to see how comes out alive. I truly enjoyed this addition to the malice series and can’t wait to see where the author takes it.

One Night Stand

One Night Stand (The Martin Family #1)
by Parker Kincade

It’s a great story with a little of everything along with some very hot sexy controlling men who won’t take no for an answer and women who won’t give in easy. There is a story inside a story that holds your interest and sets up the next book in the series that I am looking forward to reading. The author gives you some very hot heated scenes along with some suspense, a touch of humor that will have you laughing.

Amanda just can’t seem to find the right men in or out of bed.  The last little cheat has her running for the hills taking some much needed times for her self. She stops in a bar for a drink which leads to two men that decide she is going to be their desert. Having three older brothers who taught her how to take care of herself leads to a very entertaining fight where Amanda shows her moves breaking the dudes nose. Things do not end there when the bars owner walks in and is taken back by this sexy, smart mouth tornado. She puts the moves on him and he takes her up on it.  One night is not enough as they get wild and kinky, along comes some unwanted company which leads to an exciting fun read. There are misunderstandings between these two both scared and unsure of the other. Each say things they do not mean but all that changes when Amanda is pulled into danger which leaves her life hanging in the balance. Can Joe get to her in time, can Amanda stand her ground and hold her own?

Amanda finds Joe controlling, sexy and her cup of tea. Joes finds her sexy and has no trouble finding her something to do with that smart mouth of hers.  He has some fast talking to do when her brothers step in trying to take their little sister back home. It is one heck of a standoff when you have two alpha males in the room.

The romance is hot and melts right of the pages. The suspense is interesting holding your attention, the characters are hot, alpha and very hot tempted which is really a turn on when you look at the whole package.  I can hardly wait to read the story of her older brother and her best friend. I do believe it is going to be a hot exciting read. I don’t think you will be bored reading this it is very erotic to the point it becomes a trust issue. How much does Amanda trust Joe, will she do the erotic things he wants.  I really liked Amanda and her friend both are very sassy independent women trying to make it in a very alpha world. Neither is giving an inch and are making their own demands. The cockiness between the characters is such fun the author really has outdone herself with the smooth way it is delivered.  I would have liked to have seen more background which would pull the reader in more.  The story moves fast and easy, giving an exciting read. I totally enjoyed it.
