Raised in the art of warfare, Former Navy SEAL, Tristan Jacobs, has always been a force to reckon with. Now that D.I.R.E. has successfully implemented his scientific enhancements, he’s a walking weapon. Unstoppable, as long as he stays focused. No relationships.

When ex-BUD/S teammate, Aidan Monroe, interrupts his long-awaited sabbatical to call in a favor, Tristan reluctantly fills the simple request: take out his sister’s fiancé.

One problem: Rachel Monroe - smokin’ hot, kind-hearted, and in desperate need of a protector. After the best sex of his life, Tristan’s afraid unstoppable is just a memory. Knowing Aidan’s temper, Tristan could be, too.

Rachel Monroe had a plan to help her mother. Her brother ruined everything when his gorgeous, super-agent friend teleported her to some forsaken island - and his bed. She’s drawn to him despite the fact he’s a professional agent, much like the people suspected of killing her father.

Now, his enemies have come to her small town, looking for vengeance. Have they found more than they bargained for? Or, does the past have its own retribution in mind?

My Review

I thought this was an interesting read I can’t say anything really grabbed me and held on. I was expecting more action but feel this was more of a book to setup with D.I.R.E is and does with showing you the basics of the operation. At the end of this audio they author does give you the first chapter or so of book two which starts out with action and a laugh. I am looking forward to listening to it and seeing if it picks up a little more. With that said I did find this to be a good read with some wild passion scenes. The plot is wonderful as Tristan takes on the bad guys and keeping his friends sister from marrying into that family as he keeps her safe. Things never goes as planned as Tristan and his friends find out, things get out of control easy and early finding Tristan in a mess of trouble not only from his friend but the lady he is protecting along with his heart.

Tristan as a character is one hot little number who loves them and leaves them. With his job he really cannot do relationships. Besides there isn’t a women who can keep his attention for long, that is until Rachel who turns his world upside down walks in his life. He really cannot get involved with this woman for a number of reasons at least that is what he tells his self. What he finds out is he is in way over his head as he makes sure her ex stays an ex which keeps his hands full, let’s not even talk about what she does to him. I really liked him because no matter what the job gets done. He will protect with his dying breath, he thinks he really isn’t good enough for Rachel beside his job just would not work with a relationship. He tries his best to talk his self out of it, the pull is to strong he gives in to the demand of his body. Oh what a night like no other it really is going to be hard to walk away from this woman. That is if her brother doesn’t kill him first…..

Rachel is doing what she needs to do to help pay off her father’s bills. If she marries her soon to be husband he will pay them all off. She isn’t really in love but is willing to do anything to help her family. With showing up at the wedding with no groom in site has her rethinking this. Once the groom shows up pasted out well this is just to much and is not going to happen. Then comes along her brother and his friend he tells her to hold on and not let go. OMG where are they and how did they get there. With her whole world turned upside down not knowing where to turn and what to do has her spinning. It just so happens that Tristan has a few things to say as well as show her. Will one night of hot passion lead to more or when she finds out more than she wants to know will she walk away?

I thought Fred Filbrich brought a lot to this audio his voice was clear and smooth, if there was any editing done I could not tell. The audio was clear with no noise of any kind. I thought his voices were great I had no trouble telling who was talking along with being able to tell if it was male or female. His tones were even whether excited or mad he hit them right on the mark. I have not listened to any audios by him and was very pleased with the outcome.

The author throws in a lot of twist that you do not see coming. I just am not sure why the mother was pushing her to marry the person she was. I got a little confused there but it might have been I wasn’t listening as well as I should have. I was setting in a dentist chair having a tooth pulled I am going with I most likely missed something that the author had written. I will stand by my thoughts of I didn’t care to much for her mother. I did like most of the characters each bring so much to the story even those you won’t like adds so much to the listen. I would have liked to have seen more action but as again I think this was more of a build up for the series. I really thought this was a wonderful thought out plot with bring Enhancements of Teleportation and Invisibility into a story that is believable. The author throws in some hot romance for your pleasure which will steam up your e reader. The characters are believable and ones you can relate to with normal issues for the most part. This is a book I want to listen to again when I can really listen to it and give it my full attention. There is a lot of drama with many surprises that will keep you on your toes. A few things that are sure to blow your mind with mother dear reveals a few secretes of many years ago. This was well worth the listen and it will be one I will be going back to revisit soon. This is one author to keep your eyes on with well over 100 five

and four star reviews I would say she is one to check out and give a read.
