The Second Wife
by Kishan Paul
My Review
5 Stars +++++++
This is the second book I have read by this author and I have to say it is the best. After reading Blind Love I do not know what I expect but it sure wasn't this. The author gives you adventure with many twist and turns. Things are not always as they seem for sure. This is really an outstanding read of survival, getting even, taking back your life, facing your fears as you face your past which you have lost and learning to start over again when you do not know which way to turn. I can't even image going through what Alisha did. It would be bad enough being taken but to being taken to another country where everything is so strange you wouldn't know which end is up. To live day to day in a country you do not even know their language with no friends to talk to only a doctor and your husband who isn't your husband would be ungodly. Than to be taken and beaten over and over again for little or no reason is just mind blowing. What this author gives you is a well told story with a wonderful plot of one women and how she survived building a new life and a new family that gave her the reason to carry on.
Alisha is a sweet wonderful caring lady that gives so much of herself to everyone. She has a wonderful husband who adores her. A loving family that bring a smile to her face with their love. She has the best and everything any women could want until the day she walked outside and someone took her to a new country, killed people in front of her and became her worse nightmare. She prays for someone to come get her and take her home. She prays for the love of her life until the day she sees a picture and knows her life is over. She has nowhere to go, no one to love and no reason to live until the day she built her new family from those around her that are going through the same thing she is. Will this nightmare ever end? Will she ever find a way out and a place to call hers?
David remembers it like it was yesterday even through it has been two years since the love of his life came up missing. He has turned over every stone, she is nowhere but in his dreams. Those wonderful dreams at night when he is asleep she comes to him he reaches out and touches her only to wake and find she is gone. After two long painful years he has found someone who can make him smile again. If she could only make him forget.....until the day a man came to him and said your wife is alive and is the second wife of another man. He leaves no stone unturned as he finds away to get to her and bring her home but will it be too late?
What makes this such an outstanding read from me is the plot and the writing style of this author. I have said it before and I am saying it again this is one author you want to keep your eyes on. This is a very believable plot with some wonderful caring characters. Some you will love and others you will want to kill yourself. The author gives you all the fact without throwing them in your face. You know what happen and you know it is terrible but you do not read all the details. You can feel the pain of the victim as she is rape and beaten but it is told in away that your mind can handle it. There are so many victims here from one man that hates. No one said no to him if they do he kills them or takes them. No one has been able to stop him. Alisha believes she can and will die trying, she has nothing to lose and nothing to live for. He must die, his evil must be stopped. There is many more beside her that have paid his price. She vows no more will die because of him. David isn't walking away he will make this man pay for what he has not only done to him but his wife. He will not leave Pakistani without her. Now it becomes a fight to the death who will live and who will die.
This is one book I could not put down it held my interest like no other one has in awhile. There were times my mouth fell open and my hand went over it as I read. There were times I was close to tears as the author took me through the pages of hurt and pain. Many times I thought let me in a room with him and I will happily take him out. It has been a long time since a story has touched me so deep that I felt it all the way to my soul. I love the fact that it is told in a way that shouldn't trip any wires in your brain if you have been abused. It is a story you can relate to without having to read word for word what was done. I just love this book and plain to read it again. Most likely over and over again throughout the years. I think most who read this will not be able to walk away without being touched in some way. I know this review does not to justice to this book, there are no words to say just how wonderful this story is as you are taken to another place and another time of your worse nightmare. I highly recommend you pick up The Second Wife and give it a read.

My Review
All over a 5 story a 4
The author put some interesting twist in this read with some real sorrow. I kept saying no please no but she didn't it anyway. I really enjoyed book 2 but not as much as I did book 1 mostly due to Rachel and how she deals with issues. When Rachel's two lives meet head on she struggles to keep everyone safe. With the outcome of this book there is only one thing left to do and that will be the start of the next book in this series. The author brings back some wonderful characters as she touches base with the past book. As the War with the Others builds it is harder to keep her secret safe. When this war finally hits some will die and others will be left behind to pick up the pieces. I have to wonder what they outcome will be for so many who have lost so much.
Rachel is a strong bullhead women who will not listen to reason. I really liked her in the first book but not so much in this one. She doesn't really think just runs head on into trouble thinking she is helping when she is not. Her actions made her lose someone very important to her. Rachel really is a very sweet and wonderful lady who just needs to think before she does anything. With what she has planned to do in the next book I sure hope she really thinks before she jumps if she doesn't she could get in the worse trouble ever or even end of dead.
Leonardo is still a wonderful character keeping everyone safe but in this installment things go a little haywire as he has to deal with issues he has no control over. He goes missing and when he is found he just isn't the same. Can love and friendship save him or will his life be changed forever.
Shana Pennington-Baird as the narrator is wonderful she brings so much life to each character. It is easy to tell her males from her females as she creates and gives life to all that is around them. Her voices has even tones with just the right about of emotion for each that you know what they are feeling and where their thoughts are. There is no background noise and no breaks that you can tell. Here tones are even as if she read the book all at one setting. I have listened to a few from this author and have enjoyed every book she has narrated.
The author gives you a wonderful story of people from different lifestyles who come together to make a family as they fight the "others" it is a toss up to who the winner will be. No matter who wins so much will be lost. The author gives out more details as she builds up the series but is still holding her cards close to her chest. She has answered a few questions only leaving you with more unanswered. This is sure a puzzle that the pieces do not fit. I have my guesses but I could be way off base. I can't wait to see how Rachel plays in all of this, There is so much mystery over why her mother will not talk about her parents and what about Rachel's birth? Something is way off there and I want some answers as does Rachel.
I really enjoy these characters as the serve and protect each other. They have built a wonderful home as they bring all the strange into it they have built a family. I cannot wait to see where the author takes this book with the next installment we will be going into the labs. I can't not wait to see what they are like and what all is in there. I guess you could read this as a standalone but I fear you would be lost even with the author giving some background from the first book. I am really hooked on this series. If you are looking for a book that is different and not like others of this nature give this series a try.

Be Mine
by Isobelle Cate
My Review
5 Stars
This books starts off a little slow but when it takes off it takes off with a bang. You have to people who have been hurt and betrayed in the worse way. Both have trust issues as they have build up walls around their heart. As they come together and finally fine happiness working through their issues you would think life would come up roses. In this case you have an ex who will not let go, a father who wants his son, a sister who just wants to get to know her brother. Just as you think you worked out one issue the author throws a twist you do not see coming. Before you know it you are hooked on a page turning read you can't put down.
Gracie is a wonderful sweet lady who just wants a normal life. She runs into a man who knocks the breath right out of her. He then more or less stalks her until she gives him her attention. She fights the pull as the attraction is strong, it isn't long before she finds she is fighting a losing battle.
Luke is a love them and leave them man who never sleeps with the same women twice. He is bored with life and looking for something more. When he runs into Gracie and almost knocks her down all it took was one look into her eyes and he was hooked. There is no way this woman is getting away from him. He follows her home and makes her give him her attention. One thing leads to another as he rocks her world.
This is where things gets interesting as the author puts a little suspense into the read. Things might now be as they seem. People want things and they will take them anyway they can get them. They use people twist things to their way of thinking. Just as the cards look like they might be staked in Luke and Gracie's favor they find the cards are about to fall down all around them. Can love keep them together or will life pull them apart?
This is a very interesting read as the author gives you a wonder story of lose, criminals, heartbreak, starting over and learning to love again. She gives you some very steamy heated love scenes that will burn up the pages and make you blush. For me once this book took off I could not put it down and had to read it at one setting. I love this authors writing style as she gets your blood pumping between your love scenes and her wonderful suspenseful plot. This is one story I would enjoy reading again.

Now a widow and picking up the pieces after the death of her husband, she delves into her work, seeking a new normal, until she bumps into a handsome stranger who derails her orderly life, completely.

All I Need Is You
By Wendy S. Marcus
My Reivew
4 stars
All I Need Is You is about two people trying to out run their past and starting over. They come together as pen pals reaching out in some very steamy emails that give them each what they need to hold on through some very trying times. The author gives you a sexy dancer and a military hero with a wonderful sense of humor that will keep you smiling as she takes you through the rebuilding of their lives. The author gives you a very emotional read with characters that you will enjoy hanging out with. Things get pretty complicate as they get out of hand due to misunderstanding. You have two very strong will people who will have to learn to bend. Each drive the other up the wall as they use humor and love to bring them down.
Neve has some trying time as she grew up finding out things she wish she had not. She worked hard to make her family proud. She played just as hard which now leaves her life in complications. She is a wild card for sure with wild ways. Just as she decides she needs to leave the bad girl image behind she finds it isn't as easy has it should be. She decided to surprise Rory on his leave by making one of his fantasies come true she comes face to face with a angry women who said she is his fiancée. All the screaming bring the whole family running with parts sticking out that should not be and Rory on the floor in pain from a well kick to his private parts from Neve as she turns and runs out. She doesn't give Rory time to explain what she heard isn't true.
With Rory finally home for good he goes to set things right with Neve. She isn't having anything to do with it. Issues bring things to a head as they find out they need the other to help them get through some trying times. Neve is the only one who can pull Rory out of his flashbacks and Rory is the only one who can help her through her illness. They will have to get over their trust issues before they can even think about making a life together that is if they want one.
With both these characters being alpha they do a lot of head butting as sparks fly and tempters rise. I enjoyed the read as I felt the author did an outstanding job giving us the readers a very touching, exciting read. I really love all the characters in this story each brought so much to the read. After reading the first book in this series which I loved I couldn't wait to read this one. The author didn't let me down with her outstanding writing style that reaches in and grabs your heart. I loved the humor as these two battle it out to get their way only to find out what the missing link has always been is the love they have for each other.

My Review
This is a standalone read a story filled with a lot of drama and ex's who want the good doctor back. Women who will go to extreme links to get what they want. Ellie is a wonderful sweet character who wants to learn as much as she can. Her true dream is to help children. When she was offered the job in the states she decided to give it a try. On starting her new job she runs into the head nurse who doesn't like her. When things start to heat up with Dr Julien the head nurse decides to cause trouble. Once the fall out happens she just won't give up. She isn't the only women that comes out of the woodwork that has a past with the good doctor.
Julien is a nice sweet character who uses and throws women away like dish water. Somehow the person he is just doesn't work with the character in the book for me. The books starts with him coming off as an womanize but I just do not get this feel from him. For me he just wasn't an alpha male there was no take control. Not much head butting as you get with an alpha.
I really didn't feel much chemistry or sexual tension between the two main characters. I do not feel the pull that I have in other books. This is not to say this wasn't a good story or plot because it was. With reading the book description I just didn't get that out of the book. I did enjoy the read it isn't a book I would want to read again but was an interesting read and I am not sorry I read it.
The author does give some heated love scenes that are a high heat level. I have to say this was a pretty good read. For me the author just didn't not pull me in and take over my mind. She does give a wonderful HAE which will touch your heart. The characters are sweet, caring and loving. Again this is just my thoughts please pick it up and give it a read. The reviews on this are wonderful which leaves me thinking I must have missed something somewhere along the way.

About the Author
I live just outside London, UK. For as long as I can remember, I've always been a bookworm - sometimes hiding from my siblings in my younger days, just so that I could devour another chapter in peace!
I am happily married, with two kids. When I'm not being mum, you can find me tapping away on my laptop or with my Kindle in hand - for research purposes, of course. ;)
I love reading romance books - there's nothing like your characters ultimately getting their happily-ever-after, once they have weathered through their trials and tribulations. Life can be tough and it's great to escape into a land of make-believe, every now and then.
I cherish my family who are all incredibly supportive of my writing; I can only hope that I live up to their expectations!

The Mistress of Tall Acre

My Review
Being from Virgina myself this book caught my attention. The author has an outstanding plot which she keeps interesting as she spins a tell of one man going off to war leaving a wife and daughter behind. Many years later he finds out his wife has died and his daughter is living with her family. On his return the family will not give him his daughter so he goes in the dead of night and takes her away. His wife's family wants her back, men are seen watching the home. To keep his daughter he needs a wife he marries the lady next door who needs his help to keep her land. When things are starting to work out for them a lady from the past comes home and throws their world into a tail spin.
Sophie is a sweet and caring lady when her family turns on the states she is left alone to try to make the best of it. She is giving and wants to do best by those around her. It is little wonder why the General falls in love with her. She takes his child as her own and gives his life new meaning. Helps run his home taking care of the staff as they are family. Just as she has it all she is about to lose it when his first wife comes home. I really liked this character she is a truly lady who puts others first and herself last. She is one character I was glad to see a happy ending for.
Seamus has been through so much having fought a war being away from home for so long. With the war ending he finds his wife is dead, his daughter doesn't know him and his wife's family will not let him have her. He takes her only to find they are willing to fight to keep her. He does what is best finding a new wife to keep all that is his in return helping Sophie keep what is hers. Just when life is coming up roses his first wife appears wanting him back. He just found a love like no other and is about to lose it all. The General is a man of honor who has lost a lot in this war. He never thought he would find another lady to love now Sophie and his daughter is his world and he is about to lose it all. He is just a strong loving man what is there not to like about this character. Any women should be proud to call him her own.
The author gives you a well told story just a little long in places. It wasn't a story that kept me spellbound but one I did enjoy. She does throw in a few twists and turns to keep the story interesting. For me this book moved a little slow and at times I found my mind wondering but I was pulled back in as things came to a head with family issues. It isn't a story I would want to reread but one I enjoyed and was glad I had read. The author throws in a little mystery to keep the book entertaining. If you enjoy historical romance this one is well worth your time.

Book Description
The American Revolution is finally over, and Sophie Menzies is starved for good news. When her nearest neighbor, General Seamus Ogilvy, finally comes home to Tall Acre, she hopes it is a sign of better days to come. But the general is now a widower with a small daughter in desperate need of a mother. Nearly destitute, Sophie agrees to marry Seamus and become the mistress of Tall Acre in what seems a safe, sensible arrangement. But when a woman from the general's past returns without warning, the ties that bind this fledgling family together will be strained to the utmost. When all is said and done, who will be the rightful mistress of Tall Acre?
Triumph and tragedy, loyalty and betrayal--readers find it all in the rich pages of this newest historical novel from the talented pen of Laura Frantz. My Review
I have to say I am so hooked on this series, each book is just as good or better than the last. I love this authors writing style and her imagination. The characters give so much not only to each other but to us the readers as they take us on a wonderful journey into their pack as they go through their every day lives and trials to be the best pack they can be. As you find in this pack not everyone is for the pack and what is best. Rules are broken women are cut to the bone as they are little more than slaves. It takes one man coming to a small town turning it on it's ear to stir things up and hopefully get it back to the way things should have been done to start with. The author gives you a wonderful story which includes heartbreak, death, hurt and pain as she bring the characters to their true meaning and gives them hope for a better life.
Come take a step back in time as you read about things you would have seen many hundreds of years ago. It seems that Gold Gulch needs to move up to more modern times. This town is a tourist attraction that keep the Victorian lifestyle alive only they never get out of it even when the tourist go home. These wolvers want to keep their women out of the loop making them believe they cannot think for themselves. Women can't own property and have little or no money. The men of the pack control everything keeping the little women busy cleaning and cooking why the man live it up.
Rachel has had enough she will not let any man control her. She doesn't every plan on finding a mate, she likes her life just the way it is. Well not just like it is but the best she can have it that is until the sheriff comes to town and makes her heart beat a little faster. She starts thinking things she shouldn't as her wolf comes out to play.
You know whatever Eugene Begley, has his hand into there is going to be some tempters rise and some hearts beating to their own beat. He has a way of matching wolvers up and I do believe he gets a kick out of setting back watching the sparks fly.
Challenger is sent to this small town to find out what the problem is. Things just aren't adding up as the birth rate is down and no one seems to every smile. The women are old before their time and the town doesn't seem to be making much money. Challenger has his hands full not only with the town and their people but finding out what is going on and putting it right. Not to mention Rachel who he can't help but make that red hair tempter glow.
What the author brings to the table is one well told story full of humor, sparks, passion, danger and lot of tempters flying. Ms. Rhoades gave me a tale of a wonderful story that I have come to expect from her writing. Before you are through you yourself will believe in wolvers, packs and honor as the woman rebel and raise some tempters as they bring the bad wolvers down and get their town back. I love the characters some are just busy bodies why others just keep you laughing. The author brings the reader passionate love scenes as she keeps you guessing what will happen next. I can't wait for the next one it looks to be as good as this one. You really should give this author a try I am sure you will love her wolvers as much as I do.
