I just finished the first book in this series and started Silent Innocence it is just a good as the first one filled with mystery, crime, drama and love. The story hooked me almost from the first page, I could not put it down. This is a very emotional story that pulls the reader in keeping you invested in the story of one little girl as you read about her your emotions will be all over the place. I thought the author did a wonderful job dealing with touchy issues of human trafficking giving you the true feelings but in a way it was a little easier to deal with. Not saying this is something that is easy to deal with it is a serious issue that we should all be concern with. The author writes in a way that really touches you deeply wanting you to reach in and pull the characters out but is done with class giving it a feeling of realistic but not over bearing.

I really like Fitz and getting to know him as we saw in the first book he is a man with character, honor who loves his job and his family. I really got to know him and MJ in the first book, it was wonderful to see her again. She is now married to Fitz, giving him the support he needs to do the job he does. It is wonderful how these two deal with life and the support they give each other.

The author gives a well written story with many twists and turns, leaving Fitz not knowing who he can trust. This is a story about love, hope and family, giving, with suspense, mystery, action, and a few thrills and chills. It is a very emotional roller-coaster ride that keeps you so invested you are done with the book before you know it. I really hated to leave this characters behind and can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

I thought this was very interesting listen but very confusing at times. I really enjoyed the twists and turns that at times is rather shocking. There were a few times my mouth fell open and I thought oh my. I never really got a handle on this audio beside the high government wants Morgan dead because they thought he knows something he should not. I never worked out what was so important about the tape from what I could tell the only important it has is that Morgan loved it and it fit his feelings. I do use music myself to go with the mood I am in. Some songs tell my story or part of it and pull me in. I just thought playing each song all the way through gave it more important than it needed. I think part of each song would have been better. I did enjoy how the narrator pointed out things about Morgan or what he was doing throughout the music. Since I listened to this I wonder how the songs were dealt with in the book it’s self.

Mr. Filbrich did a really good job of narration, there was a little issue at the beginning where you could hear him swallow but over time that went away. He has improved in this area from other audios of his I have listened to. He has a very lovely voice that is very pleasant to listen to. I loved his British accent I thought it was wonderful. I thought the narrator bought the story to life but needs to work on giving more emotion to his characters. I found them to be a little flat at times not enough excitement when they are in danger or when they are working on their relationship. They just didn’t connect as a couple no passion. I just didn’t feel the excitement or rush from gets into a fight or near death. I thought his male and female voices were lovely. I had no trouble knowing who was talking. There are no background noises, no volume changes, if any breaks were taken I could not tell. Over all I thought he did a really good job and look forward to listening to more of his work.

When the author went into the science part of the bomb I was totally lost and went way over my head as things were pointed out which made it a little hard to understand and was confusing. At times I found my mind wondering. I am unsure if too much information was given or not enough. It was a good ending but confusing. I found the part about what the government has for defense very interesting. I am unsure of what happened to the bomb that were made since the whole book was built around it I would have liked more information at the end. It does seem that the author has set this up for a series since the ending was unclear. It will be interesting to see where he takes this story.

Bottom line I enjoyed it, I thought it was worth my time but was confusing. The twists are outstanding and some shocking. The surprises keep you on your toes. Not everything is as it seems. I do feel that some of the songs takes away from what the author really wanted us to see. For a debut story it was good.

At times this story was a little slow and other times a steady beat. The story has good parts and some not so good. What throw me more than anything was when the character said I thought and then someone answered their thought. If someone is thinking most likely it is in their head and others to not hear it. This happens way too much for it to have been a thought that slipped out. Just as I was getting into the story “I thought” was said and just took away from all I had enjoyed which left me thinking more about why that was there I and missed what happen next. The hooker relation throws me as well, he is such a gentleman with her but with his handle he is a starved man, there was no chemistry for me to buy into this part. I feel a little more development is needed, more follow up is needed on the med Cain took, to him checking out the agency to make sure they were on the up and up.  I found these things very confusing. Before I get into what worked for me let’s talk about the narrator.

Mr. Ryan has a delightful voice which really adds to the story. His character voices are great. You have no trouble knowing who is talking at any given time. I am unsure why their boss is so harsh he always sounds mad which confused me. His emotions are not bad but I thought at one point the hooker laughed or chuckled the narrator should have does so as well why talking to make it more believable. I did not feel any sparks between any of the women or men. Now when the handler got mad at her ex I felt that through Mr. Ryan’s voice. When the ex got cocky I had no trouble I heard it in his voice and chuckled a time or two. There were parts that the emotion or excitement was easy to feel others a little more work is need but it wasn’t bad at all. There are no background noises nor any place where the volume changes. There are times Mr. Ryan need to pause give brakes between what is happening or between sentences. The audio is very clean, clear and crisp. If any breaks were taken I could not tell. I thought the narrator give an enjoyable listen that added to the audio. I do believe this is some of his first works and do believe with time he will become a very talented narrator.

What worked for me in this story was Cain when he wakes up I could feel his confusion. I had so much respect for him with the hooker from helping her start over to how he was a true gentleman. I am a little confused over what this agency is and why all the secrets between so many also the ex leave hints as to what it truly is but I am unsure as to why he wanted out but I feel as we go along we will understand more. The hooker I have to say my heart went out to her, the first time she finds a man that treats her as a person and she falls for him…so sad. I do have respect for her for trying to better herself. The handler has an emotional story to tell. The boss has me a little confused but again I feel that will come out as they story goes on. For the most part the action is wonderful I loved the car scene that really got my mind going. The excitement from the driver had me chuckling. To many fillers for me is a big problem which I have to give to the author he doesn’t use any. More or less every word written is needed to tell the story. For that alone it was worth the listen. Even with the confusing and the “I thought” part I thought this was an enjoyable listen. I most likely would listen to it again at some point.
