Snowbound with Mr. Wrong

Snowbound with Mr. Wrong (Snowflake Valley)
by Barbara White Daille

This is not a story that really grabbed me it was a cute sweet read. It starts out really good but is just missing something. Two people who have dated in the past end up being Santa and his elf neither wanted to see each other and are very surprised to see the other one. As they go to leave due to the snow that is coming Nick gets hurt which puts Lyssa trying to take care of him, the kids that need to go home to their parents, putting away all the party food, and get back off the mountain before it snows.  They work their way down the mountain through the snow fall only to get stopped by a tree. Having no way to get home they most go back up the mountain, trying to stay out of each other’s way, keep the children entertained and hope that someone will come get them before Christmas.

The characters are very likeable from the two main to the children. I thought this was cute and at time funny. Nick and Lyssa are forced to work together taking care of the children and facing their issues that her sister hopes they will work out. This is a very clean read that is enjoyable. The author goes throw in a little passion which is delightful.  It was fun to see how they kept the children entertained I really enjoyed that. I did feel Nick’s foot healed much faster than I would have thought along with him running around out in the snow faster than I would have thought possible.

It would have been nice to have seen the Epilogue to have been about later on and not the same day or maybe it was the next day. To me it was more of a next chapter not an Epilogue. I thought the ending was rushed but likeable. I thought this was a cute fun read that I did enjoy.

Summary
Worst. Day. Ever. After Lyssa Barnett’s sister tricks her into reprising her role at Snowflake Valley's annual children's party, she doesn’t think anything can be worse than squeezing into her too-small elf costume. Then tall, dark, and way too handsome Nick Tavlock shows up to play Santa…and an unexpected storm leaves them snowbound in the isolated lodge.

The last thing Nick wants is to spend a cozy Christmas Eve with a trio of kids and the woman who dumped him. But as much as Lyssa frustrates him, he can't stop thinking about her. And soon, he's fighting very un-Santa-like thoughts of kissing a certain sexy Miss Elf under the mistletoe. As Nick starts to fall for Lyssa all over again, he knows it will take nothing short of a miracle to have Lyssa in his arms on Christmas Day.

Six-Gun Showdown (Appaloosa Pass Ranch #5)

Six-Gun Showdown (Appaloosa Pass Ranch #5)
by Delores Fossen

What a shock Jax got from listening to his voice mail hearing a voice he thought he would never hear again. An even bigger shock was when he walked out to the barn and the person attached to that voice was standing right in front of his eyes. No one can blame him for being hurt, angry and very upset for all the blame he has put on his self for his son and the loss of his mother. If only he had done this or that she might be alive. He is at a loss for words as his tempter rises why did she do what she did, why hadn’t she let him know she was a live? This is how the story starts giving you a full impact of suspense, action that capacitates you leaving you torn on who you feel sorry for the most. This was such a gripping read as the author pulls you in with vivid details of the terrifying ordeal Paige has faced at the hands of a serial killer the reason for faking her death.

The story takes off from a previous novel where Paige was killed leaving a family torn between the loss and love they had for her. Faking her death was done to protect her ex and their son as well as is the reason for her returned.  Not everything is as it appears someone is out to get their hands on Paige is it really the serial killer coming back or is there someone else? Things are just not adding up. Not everyone is happy with her return. There are so many suspects it is hard to tell who is friend and who is a villain. It is full of mystery, thrills that is action packed almost from the first page.

Jax and Paige and page might be divorce before her death but that doesn’t stop the sparks they feel with her return. Neither know just which way to turn as they work together to bring out the serial killer. You can feel the passion come right off the pages as these two butt heads on who will do what when. Nothing is more chilling than when you hear the voice of the man who tried his best to kill you. It just shoots chills right up my back. I had no trouble picturing this and so many more thrilling scenes. The author really brought this story to life for me painting a picture no one ever wants to be a part of.  This is one author who knows how to hold your attention why keeping your heart in your throat waiting to see what is about to happen. I was kept on the edge more than once trying to work out this mystery. The most touching scene is when her son sees her for the first time in so long it just about made me cry.

They must work at bring whoever is at fault down why keeping their son safe. If that isn’t bad enough the nanny is acting strange she isn’t at all happy with Paige’s return since she is in love with Jax. Add this to all the other strange things happening all around them it is enough to keep your head spinning.  Just when they think they have a handle on the issues things change leaving them spinning in their tracks.

I have not read all the previous novels in this series and did not feel I lost. However it does make me want to go back and read the ones I have missed I do feel it will add more to the story. With that said this is a standalone and you do not feel lost at what has happen or is happening. The author does a wonderful job at filling you in so you never feel like you are lost and have no trouble understanding everything. This is a thrilling romance that will keep you on your toes filled with such excitement and packed with action you will not find a dull minute here. It was a book I could not put down keeping me up late at night to finish it. I can hardly wait for the next one to find out more about these wonderful characters. I just love each and every one of them.

Kissing Mr. Mistletoe

Kissing Mr. Mistletoe: Christmas in Napa (Holiday in the Vineyard Novella #1)
by Kate Kisset

As with the first book this author wrote this was a delightful fun read. There are so pretty funny scenes here that will make you laugh out loud. I love second chance love going back to the one that got away is so exciting.

Years ago Trace took off to start his country music career leaving behind the only women he ever loved. He must come back home to settle his uncles estate and face the one that got away. Monique has moved on but has never forgotten the one man she truly loved but married another she hoped would make her dreams come true. What she found is herself alone with a young child and her dream all up in smoke. When Trace asked her to go with him many years ago she said no she didn’t want to leave her family but more she was afraid she would get lost as he takes over the world and his fans. Now years later she still feels the same but she has to wonder what if….

The author gives you a well written story that makes you laugh and keeps you entertained. I really loved all these characters as they take you through their past and the here and now.  It was nice to visit with some from the first book seeing how they are doing. The author fills you in on the important things never leaving you hanging or guessing. You are going to fall in love with Monique little girl she is just a darling little things. What is they say little pitches hear and see more than they should. Lol

Trace is such a caring man strong, giving I just adore him. He wants answers to why she wouldn’t go with him and why she married who she did. This time he isn’t going to walk away but find things are not always such cut and dry. Monique I could relate to with her fear they are so real in a day and age when country music stars change partner so fast. She has proven she can stand on her own but sometimes you need a helping hand as she will find out.

I thought this was well written with a very believable plot that hooks you from the first page. I enjoyed the chemistry and the humor Trace and Monique have. I really loved how Trace pulled in Monique daughter making her very much a part of it all. Monique grandmother was a dear she even made me smile. This is just so full of heartbreak just when you think things might work out you wonder if they ever will. I have to admit this one pulled a tear from my eye. Poor Trace my heart really went out to him. If you are looking for a new author how about giving this one a try she is full of surprises as she pulls you in giving you a read you are very invested in.

Season of Love

Season of Love (Cutter's Creek #11)
by Vivi Holt

What a heartwarming clean read that will bring you inspiration giving you back the true meaning of family, love, Christmas as well as mankind.  Meg knows how it feels to lose her family and be all alone but for her it was just her. She is all grown up and she moves to Cutter Creek to become the school teacher just about gave up on finding a husband. She longs for a family but doesn’t see a man in site that will make her his. Things take place in town that draws on her heartstrings making her make decisions that will make it hard for any man to make her his bride.

Meg is just so good hearted, caring and loving. All of her students just love her. Now she finds she must reach the trust of one group of children hoping to get through to them and make their life better. I really liked her and was cheering for her in more ways than one as she tries to take the world on one child at a time.

Heath has his heart broken in the worse way and isn’t in much of a hurry to go down that road again that is until he meets Meg which makes him start thinking about marriage and family again. He gets his self all work up to start courting her and she makes a move that blows his mind. He sure isn’t ready for that kind of move but he still finds his self drawn to her.  Now he must weigh the odds and decide if his heart is big enough to admit he loves her and help her take on the world one child at a time.

This was a very touching read that pulls you in. I just adored the plot it reaches your heart in so many ways. This was really very well written with characters that will pull on your heart. You are so going to love the children in this small town as they break your heart from all they have gone through.  I found this to be a book I could not put down I was so cheering, pushing and hoping for so many people in this story. If you are looking for a very touching story that will put you in the Christmas mood this would be the one you would want to read.

Crashing into Tess

Crashing into Tess (McGreers #1)
by Lilly Christine

This was a fun exciting read from the first page you are pulled in as two people meet in a most unusual way. You watch a small town take in and get to know the new vet. As with most things in a small town everyone knows everyone’s business and word spreads fast. The author gives you a wonderful love story that builds slowly with some misunderstandings, controlling parents, icy roads, and one person doing her best to prove she belongs only to find maybe she doesn’t. One man and a little girl hoping they found the answer to a long happy life and a vet trying to find a place she belongs.

Tess comes from money she could have just about any vet job she wants anywhere in the world. She just wants a quite small town not carrying about the money. Her parents are not very happy as they try to take over her life she runs from them in hopes of standing on her own two feet. She loves them dearly but needs room to breathe.  Tess really is a very down to earth character with lots of soul for the underdog.  She has to prove herself before this town will let her in. The Doc is hoping she will stay and take over his business leaving him to move to be with their family. It doesn’t take long for Tessa to meet the hottest man in town hoping to make it to the top of his list she works her way into his heart. She just adores his little girl the feeling are the same for the girl. I just love how they enter act it warms your heart to see the love build between women and child.

Jake isn’t looking for love and he seem to fall pretty easy it doesn’t take long for him to find his heart on the line again. He had one big city women and just his luck he falls for another one. He is hoping this one is different but isn’t willing to take that step in case she runs back to the city. He has enough on his plate trying to keep his ranch in the black as he ex tries to take him for all he is worth. If that isn’t enough the ex has new ammo in hopes of getting more money out of him and taking his beloved daughter to the other side of the US. Just as he is ready to give love another try something happens to drive him the other way. With lots of misunderstanding Jake and Tess love might not get off the ground.

I really enjoyed this story I thought the author put a lot of time and thought twisting a wonderful plot that you get lost in. There are a few places where you hold your breath waiting for the next shoe to drop. She gives you a few twists to keep the story interesting.  I really like the attraction with a slow build up as two people learn to trust, love and forgive as well as finding a new life to start building. Of course there are a few rocks that pop up getting in the way and it is touch and go if they will find their happy ever after. This is the first I have read of this author work I am really looking forward to reading more of it. I found this to be very entertaining keeping your attention with wonderful characters that pull at your heartstrings. The title really fits this story he really does crash right into her or did she him? If you haven’t read anything by this author and would like to try a new one this would be a great author to start with. She gives you a read with wonderful characters that keeps you invest from the first page to the last.
