Witness in the Dark

Witness in the Dark (Love Under Fire #1)
by Allison B. Hanson

I was in a facebook group that hosted this author. I throw my name in the hat for a signed book at the same time the host asked me if I would be interested in reviewing it. YES YES of course I would it sounded like a wonderful read by a new author I had never hear of. I got the ecopy and shortly started reading it. I was very excited when I got an email that said I was one of the winners for the signed book. I love my signed books…. In the mean time I picked up my ebook and stared reading it. I was hooked, very hooked I had trouble putting this down. Samantha could not have started out with a worse night as her night got longer she found out just how worse it can get. She has a boyfriend she adores she goes out back to send him a sexy text but finds one from him that put her in tears. With tears in her eyes she hears a car and cannot believe what she just saw. In shock from the text and what she saw she runs back in to have someone call the cops. This puts her life spinning out of control and on the run trying to stay alive with only one person to trust who pulls her behind him with a gun in his hand…..

This is a new author to me she really blew my mind with an outstanding plot and characters. Sam is very outgoing and it is hard for her to stay inside the box that Garrett has made for her. She is sassy but has a wonderful sense of humor, tough and not willing to give up easy. She knows what needs to be done and does it even if it means putting her live on the line. Garrett is a man with secrets. Not one to put his live out there he holds his cards close. He is a man of mystery, strong and knows how to take care of his self. If you were in trouble and running for your life this is the man you want beside you, holding your hand and pushing you to do your best.

There are some major shockers here, mind blowing shockers that will keep your heart beating double time. Lots of action, passion, secrets, danger and things going BOOM, this author had no trouble holding your attention giving you a page turner like no other. Just when you think it is going to level out something else happens that makes you hold your breath. I loved the danger, the excitement, thrills and near death moments. The author wraps all this around humor that will keep you laughing while your heart is still in your throat. Every year I close my eyes and pick my favorite book of the year this is defiantly in the running.  You will not believe how great, wonderful, exciting and humors this book is. I can’t wait to read more of her work.  I really hope you pick this up getting the thrill only this author can give you as life is held on the edge and passion fills the room why secrets get in the way as you keep one step ahead of the people who are trying to kill you.

Lethal Relations

Lethal Relations
by Lo Monaco

I really liked the plot some of it I saw coming and other parts were very much a surprise. I thought to much filler was used that wasn’t needed. I am unsure why it had the little bit of romance between Terry and Carl which had nothing to do with the plot or the story. I felt it took away from the story and was used as filler.  3.5 rounding it up to a 4 star.

What I did like was the characters, how the story was laid out and how it all came together. Yes I was pretty sure who did the killing and the why of it but the author puts one heck of a twist on things. It is mind blowing and a shocker. It can be so surprising how one murder can affect so many people breaking a family in two.

When Terry is hired to clear the name of the killer’s girlfriend who happens to be the sister to the victim’s brother in law, if you think that is confusing just read the book to find out just how confusing it can get. The author does leave hints along the way that you most likely will pick up on before Terry does. Some hints you will never get others are very easy. Terry is living a dangerous game of cat and mouse trying to find the killer and all that might be affected. The plot is complex and mind blowing. The characters are easy to like some more so than others. Even the killer I thought was nice, there is no hate going on that you can see, the killing isn’t really based on hate. It is more a need for silence. It is very interesting and does keep your attention once you get past the filler. The authors does a great job keeping the mystery going, filling it with danger, lies and decent. I really liked the surprise ending.

Texas Marine Mayhemn

Brotherhood Protectors: Texas Marine Mayhemn (Kindle Worlds Novella) (Big Branch, Texas Book 3)
by Cynthia D'Alba

WOW just wow talk about a book that keeps you guessing holding you spellbound until the end. What a fast pace, thrilling exciting read that you will have no trouble reading at one setting. Vanessa is my hero the way she handles herself is amazing. I know I could not have taken a job as a bodyguard keeping my ex safe, I would be the one who would want to do him in. I most likely would have found the killer and say hey let me help you…just teasing but no way would I have done what she did.

The author throws some shocking things into the mix as dead bodies start turning up leaving us guessing who the stalker may be. One thing for sure there is some very hot action going on behind the scenes when Vanessa and Craig turns the heat up on more ways than one. I totally loved this book from the plot to the wonderful characters. I really liked that the past characters even came for a short visit it was really nice to see them again.

Vanessa has grown in so many ways from the innocent she was when Craig married her. She has grown into a wonderful sassy lady that doesn’t have any problem kicking a few tails all the way. Craig has loved her for so many years but he loves the new her even more. He just has to work out how to get her back. Vanessa loves him but he did a number on her that goes way beyond pain. No way No how is she going to let him back in. To top that all off there is a killer out there wanting one or both of them dead.

The author brings a wonderful story that blends so well with the last book she wrote in this series. Giving you a delightful and at times funny read that keeps you on your toes. I loved how the story builds, the twists and turns, the excitement and the ending. I had a wonderful sad smile on my face as I got to the last page. I was glad it ended the way it did but was so sad to let them go. I really wanted this story to go on. There are some major shocks that left my mouth hung open and my eyes big. I even got a chill a time or two as these to hunt down the stalker and taken them on. If you are looking for a thrilling exciting read that you won’t be able to put down you really should pick this up and give it a try you won’t be sorry.

Fear Of Malice

Fear Of Malice - the malice series 2
By Karen Fenech

This picks up where the Breath of Malice left off, it is a little slow pace but still an exciting filled with mystery and danger. When one of their own is caught red handed leaning over a dead body covered in blood and his knife in the man’s chest puts Riley under arrest for a murder he said he didn’t do.  This leaves Sam and Paige on the hunt for a killer as the stumble across some evidence that takes them back 8 years to another murder of one of their own.  As they unravel all the clues they find the picture is much bigger than they ever would have thought.  The hunt is on for a killer with much bigger plans and time is running out.

Paige has been through so much as she fights to keep her job, the man she loves and so much more.  The powers that be want to take her out of the field and put her behind a deck because of the injuries she sustained while on the job hunting down a serial killer. Her disability keeps her from chasing down the bad guy. Her foot might not be up to par but there is nothing wrong with her mind and her ability to put them behind bars where they need to be. Sam is putting up one heck of a fight to keep her on his team but the head boss is putting up as big of a fight. Paige has to prove not only to them but to herself that she can still do her job. Sam doing his best to keep her safe but something are out of his hands as the killer gets near the danger is bigger.

Sam has it coming from all directions from his boss, Paige, now his friend and agent is behind bars for a murder he didn’t commit.  As they chase down the leads it brings them closer to home then they ever want to be.  More than one life is on the line with Paige right in the middle of the battle.

The author gives you a very entertaining read that holds your interest, it moves at a steady pace filled with mystery. I never would have guesses who the killer was or all that he was hiding. Paige really has so much against her I sure hope all that she pulls off on this case gives her what she needs not only for herself but her bosses to show she can still do her job. It was a hard book to put down leaving me in a hurry to get to the end. I really felt so sorry for the killer’s wife and all she had to deal with. I had no trouble feeling the pain and sorrow that Paige and Sam was going through.  Riley’s girlfriend has so much to deal with from her brother to her boyfriend being blamed for the murder.  I really enjoyed learning more about the team, the struggles of both Sam and Paige. You have no doubt how he feels about her but is still able to keep his professionally and private live separate.  The plot is wonderful very thought out with great details that really add to this series. The characters are wonderful with depth and meaning. Heck you even feel sorry for Lonny but mostly for his sister and what he did to her. The author really pulls on your heartstrings in so many ways. The ending is exciting leaving you holding your breath waiting to see how comes out alive. I truly enjoyed this addition to the malice series and can’t wait to see where the author takes it.
