Jester: No Prisoners MC

Jester: No Prisoners MC, Book 2

Written by: Lilly Atlas
Narrated by: Noah Michael Levine, Erin DeWard
Length: 8 hrs and 7 mins
Series: No Prisoners MC, Book 2
Unabridged Audiobook
Release Date:02-15-17
Publisher: Lilly Atlas Books

This was a very hot heat read that I thought was realistic with wonderful character you could relate to. What really made this audio for me was the duel narration. The author gives you a sweet woman who is pulled into a dangerous situation when her brother is caught steal from a biker gang. Emily has raised her brother from the age of 13 when her parents died. She has done the best she can but sometimes that isn’t enough when you have a strong minded brother who is hooked on drugs. Making the gang hunting him down and finding his sister was not a wise move at he will soon find out. Emily must do as they ask or they will kill her brother. Her life has been simple up to this point she is more or less sweet and innocent but not that innocent. She must put herself into their rival gang to find out information turn it over to her brothers gang but doing this could get her and her brother killed. On doing this they will release her brother to her. She has two weeks and the countdown has begun.

I loved how the two narrators broke this down doing more or less throw own gender. Mr. Levine has a very strong voice that is sexy, kind, rough, strong, hard, and smooth all at the same time. Ms. Deward has a very sweet voice that can be rough if need me but she is sweet, kind and strong. Both of their normal voices are delightful as was their character voices. There were no background noises, no volume changes, you could not tell where one left off and the other began in this I mean it was smooth and sounded like how two people normally talk. The emotions these two displays throughout the audio are amazing. You always know who is talking and what they are feeling. I loved how they chuckled or laughed along with showing pain and sorrow from start to finish. This audio was exciting, thrilling and passionate filled with real emotions pulling the listener in. I had not listened to anything by them before and was blown away by their performance. If any breaks were taken I could not tell what they deliver is a fun, thrilling ride full of passion, hurt, pain and sorrow trying to make it out alive. When all hell breaks loose you are pulled to the edge holding your breath talking to the characters as if they were real. I was hooked from start to finish. I wish I could give these two more stars.

The author gives you a well balance story that is well thought out. She fills it with excitement, danger, passion and indifference of the unknown. The plot falls together easy making it a very believable story. I really enjoyed the twists and turns they were exciting and kept me on the edge. The main characters were a delight the supporting characters some you fell in love with others not so much. I laughed, chuckled and wanted to cry at a few heart stopping moments. My mind cannot even wrap around what Emily has to do which makes it even harder when she falls for the head of the MC reveal gang. When it comes down to her brother of her lover which one will she save? I think we all do stereo-typing, not everything is as you have heard or even seen. Sometimes there are some good guys that look rough and tough but can be so sweet and gentle but at the same time if you mess with them or theirs there will be hell to pay. Emily finds this out the hard way which leaves her in more danger then she has seen in a life time. She isn’t sure how she will make this work but she must. She will give her life for the men she loves. This is a very passionate filled read with chemistry that is off the wall. It is hot, exciting and one you won’t forget for a while. I loved the humor, the baiting of one another as each has their own goal. This is one of those books I will listen to again. I really didn’t want it to end.

Mail-Order Brides of Oak Grove

Mail-Order Brides of Oak Grove: Surprise Bride for the Cowboy\Taming the Runaway Bride (Oak Grove #1-2)
by Lauri Robinson, Kathryn Albright

This was a great buy two books for 1.99 from two delightful authors who have intertwined two stories together that complement each other.  Two twin sisters whose father has died is more or less run out of town and made to become mail order brides or go to jail. The two stories are built around them and their goal of whether or not to get married.

Surprise Bride for the Cowboy
Mary has always been the one to take care of issues, dealing with problems and take care of her family. When her father died he left her taking care of his mess and her sister.  Her sister is more of a gentler lady more of a wall flower than a doer. Mary is a doer, shaker and doesn’t let any grass grow under her feet. She is not getting married no way no how. As she sneaks off the train she is caught by a very handsome man. He is a little surprise when she lands in his lap. This first meeting doesn’t go so well leaving them both very surprised when they meet up again at Steve’s home with her needing a job.

Taming the Runaway Bride
Maggie’s sister takes off leaving her behind to take the fallout for her leaving. Maggie is worried about her but is enjoying her life of others taking care of her. At first she comes across as a little spoiled but that really isn’t the case. No she cannot cook very well nor do a lot of other things most women can but she is willing to learn if she must. Life gets interesting as men more or less fall at her feet but she isn’t having any of that. That is until one man gets her attention leaving her waiting to spend time with him.

Both stories complement each other neither sister nor Steve or Jackson wants to get married. They put up one heck of a fight but it is a fight they might not win. There is the contract both women signed which isn’t going to be easy getting out of.  I think I liked Mary the best she is more of a go getter but Maggie is more sweet and loveable. I liked both Steve and Jackson for different reason. Both has issues with their past that they will have to overcome. What really makes this a delightful read was the humor. I just loved watching these couples try to out to the other butting head and making waves.  The doctor is a delight and gives many hours of delightful reading as he goes after Mary trying his best to win her hand. He does have a little surprise that left me with my mouth hung open. I found myself chuckling and even laughing out loud a time or two. There is the cowboy that doesn’t seem to want to leave Maggie’s side which leave her trying to outrun him.  I really enjoyed reading these two stories loving how the authors collaborated giving you a highly entertaining read. A clean fun read that really hooks you. The stories are nice and easy and at times fast pace that builds up to a little passion and a lot of fun. I loved how the authors gave a touch of mystery to the story and how fun the characters and the plot was. I look forward to reading more from both authors.

Agent M4: Riordan: D.I.R.E. Agency Series #4

Agent M4: Riordan: D.I.R.E. Agency Series #4

Written by: Joni Hahn

Length: 4 hrs and 54 mins
Series: The D.I.R.E. Agency, Book 4
Unabridged Audiobook
Release Date:07-01-15

As we get into each new book with the characters new superpower enhancement the stories get more interesting and very entertaining. I love how the author keeps them at odds making them work for their relationship.

I thought Fred Filbrich did a wonderful job of narration. The only issue I found was I could hear him swallow. I thought he brought the characters to life giving them wonderful voices with lots of action. His tones where right on the money you were never left guessing as to how the character was feeling. You could hear the pain, smiles and excitement with each one. I heard no background noise and I could not tell if he ever took a break. The volume stayed the same throughout the audio what you hear is a very clean and clear audio. It was even flow throughout the whole narration. His normal voice is very pleasant and very easy to listen to. It was easy to tell if the character was male or female as he changed back and forward, I had no trouble knowing who was talking and what they were feeling. I really enjoyed his narration and do look forward to listening to him some more.

Riordan is a bad boy who knows how to get what he wants when he wants it. There is some mystery about his past and just where he has been. With a psychological evaluation and one cute doctor leave him on a tail spin. He doesn’t feel he needs this but he does seem to be a wild card.

Natalie is the doctor who will be doing his evaluation she isn’t to impress to start with he seems to know how to push all her buttons. She is the daughter of a politician she never steps outside the box, she does as she has been told. That is until Riordan who pushes her into showing her true self and making her step outside the box she lives in.

I really loved how Natalie comes out and shows her true self. There is drama there must be when you have always been the goody to shoes. These two have a powerful chemistry with some very hot love scenes that really set your heart pounding. The story is full of action, excitement and a few heart stopping moments. I was hooked from start to finish really having a hard time putting it down. The plot is very good, the action between the other DIRE agents is very interesting. There is humor but at the same time some serious issues as the story unfolds and you learn everything these two have had to deal with your heart goes out to them. I am so looking forward to reading more of this series.

This was such a fun read I loved how Hope and Jaydan buttheads they just can’t seem to be able to get along.  When they take a trip together things really get very interesting as they fight each other every step of the way. When he has to get to his brother’s wedding the turnout is amazing.

I thought Fred Filbrich did a wonderful job of narration. The only issue I found was I could hear him swallow. I thought he brought the characters to life giving them wonderful voices with lots of action. His tones where right on the money you were never left guessing as to how the character was feeling. I really enjoyed his narration and do look forward to listening to him some more.

Jaydan has supernatural strength that at times he has trouble handling and does get him into hot water when others get a first hand view of it. But Hope seems to get herself into trouble more times than a cat has lives.  Hope is more than a pretty face with lots of money she has special powers of her own

With Hope feeling like she must prove herself and Jaydan trying to keep her out of trouble these two take off on a trip to find one of the agents soon to be sister in law that has been missing for years. Things take a fast turn for the worse as new characters are bought into the story and old ones come back causing trouble. The chemistry between these two are off the chart with makes for some fun listening. So far this story is my favorite out of the series. It is fun, humorous and exciting as these two fight the attraction between them.

The main issues I have with this story is all the filler used which makes it a little on the boring side. Less would have made this a better listen. There are a lot of places you can skip a lot and not have missed much.  It does have a good plot and some of the characters I enjoyed. There were parts of the book I enjoyed very much but others not so much.  I didn’t care for Sydney that much, she is just too young acting for her age. I really didn’t think she should end up with any of the guys.  How the pool guy came to be and how she found out he wasn’t who she thought he was just didn’t work for me. The vet was just too sweet of a guy and I thought he deserved better.

I really thought the narrator did a wonderful job. I really enjoyed her character voices, the emotion she gives each of them. There was no background noise and no volume changes. There was no repeating of words. I always knew who was talking and what they were feeling in each scene.  It was a very clean and clear audio that the narrator made enjoyable.  I thought her normal voice was just as pleasant as her character voices. It is a voice I could listen to for a long time.  If any breaks were taken I could not tell. It really was a pleasure listen to her work.

With so many scenes I felt could have been left out I just felt the story dragged on a little too much. Me I have always been one man at a time kind of person and really could not get into this. Others have loved it and I am sure many more will. I just thought some characters acted too young for their ages. We all can’t like the same or everything that we read. For me this just wasn’t more me, the author lost me shortly after the audio began and never got me back. Please give it a try you might really enjoy this.
