This is the second book of this series I have listened to, I still felt a little lost and still believe you need to listen from the first book to get the full understanding. I thought the book was good with a good plot. This didn’t have as many hot sex scenes as the next book in the series. It does have some surprises for a lot of people.
Ms. Goer as the narrator did a wonderful job. Her male characters were wonderful as well as her female ones. She puts a lot of emotion into the listen and gets better with each new audio of hers I listen to.  I did not hear any background noise nor any place where the volume is higher or lower than the last. She has a smooth clear voice with lots of passion in it. You had not trouble knowing who was talking whether it was male or female each are clear, and clean voices. You were never left guessing what each character felt. There was no background noise just a clear pleasant listen. If any breaks where taken you could not tell. I look forward to listening to more from this narrator.

Some of the characters I really like other not so much. Lou is so wishy washer she knows what she wants but doesn’t.  She thinks maybe she should go back to the guy she left but then decides not. She uses sex to get her through the tough times which has put her in the mess she is in. I do have to give her credit she is trying to change.  She isn’t doing so badly for having lost everything she had but still needs to grow up a lot. I understand why she went back for closure I am unsure if she ever got it. Ian is something else you are left wondering how he still has a job after all he does. My heart really went out to him over the course of the book as his story unfolds. I couldn’t feel sorry for Lou I didn’t like her from the start but I did like her a little at the end. I am still unsure how she got away with some of the things she did. She runs to hot and cold for my liking

This is a story full of drama secrets that when they do come out will leave a lot of pain.  This was an enjoyable read I did find a few things I really liked about the book.  Most of the men in this story are just not the smartest things. I do not know why Ward hung on so long he had to have known she was using him.  Ian for me was the best part of this story  he stood up for his self telling the whole word what they could kiss not caring what anyone thought.  If you like drama wishy washy women who uses men than this is the story for you.

Summary

Lou just needs someone to take her away. It doesn't matter if she knows his name. Or if he knows hers.
Actually, it's better if he doesn't know hers.
At least, that's what she tells herself when she's sticking her tongue down the throat of the sexy handyman she just met at her new job.
Her father's dead. Her family's fortune is gone. And - oh yeah - she's assumed a false identity so she could get a position at Huntington Manor, the luxury tourist attraction that was once her family's estate. Nobody here knows that she's Louisa Cunningham, former heiress and current complicated head case. To them she's just Addison Thomas, assistant to the hotel's general manager.
Well, except to handyman Ward Brannon. To him, she's the strange, but intoxicating, new girl who tried to have sex with him without even knowing his name.
Ward is everything Lou knows she should stay away from. He's a playboy. He's constantly getting in fights. And he resents her family for reasons she doesn't understand. But, in spite of herself, she can't stay away from him, even when that puts her secret at risk. Even when it becomes increasingly clear that he harbors a few secrets of his own.

No Backward Glances

No Backward Glances: Point of No Return, Book 1

Written by: Kat Schuessler
Narrated by: Beauregard Aames
Length: 7 hrs and 19 mins
Unabridged Audiobook
Release Date:06-28-16

I loved how this books starts out with a chance meeting, how it slowly builds even through the attraction is there. I had no trouble putting myself into Lorelai shoes since I have been there myself it was easy to understand her pain from a bad breakup and not really wanting to find a new love. The author throws in some mystery of a child being kidnapped and how that plays into this romance. You have a story inside a story which is both heartbreaking and happy. The ending of one story will shock you why the other will make you smile. I thought this had a really good plot with some suspense and thrills. The loving is hot as two come together one not so sure the other ready to jump in.

Mr. Aames did a good job on the narration. I totally loved his male voices but didn’t care too much for his female ones. I did feel he brought a lot to the audio he did put emotion into the read. I didn’t hear any background noise nor could I tell if he had taken any breaks. The volume throughout was even with no places higher or lower than the others. The 3.5 star is because of his female voice I thought they took a little away from the listen. His normal voice is strong and really enjoyable. He gives a clear and clean listen that was enjoyable and I really did enjoy it. With the plot and mystery I really had a hard time putting it down.

I really loved Jay he was strong and handsome with a very caring way. He knows how to give space when needed but still give a little push when he needs to. Lorelai was very enjoyable but I thought she was a little slow on the uptake. She really is a very sweet and almost innocent character who is just so caring. The way she gives to her patients and their family is touching. She even helps Jay out a time or two. I really liked her friend she was funny at times. I thought the author gave a very believable story with great characters. I did find myself pulled into this story enjoying it very much from the plot, suspense to the romance. There is a little bit of everything here. For a new author I thought she did a really good job of entertaining her readers. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Kill and Run

Written by: Lauren Carr
Narrated by: C.J. McAllister
Length: 11 hrs
Unabridged Audiobook
Release Date:10-14-16
Publisher: Acorn Book Services

This is a book full of surprises that keeps your attention as the author plays out the plot giving you a highly entertaining listen.  I thought it was really well written that is fast paced filled with action and mystery. I did guess who was pulling the cords a little over half way through but I have been wrong before. I didn’t know the how or why until near the end. The author does a great job at keeping you entertained and guessing. This is a very fast pace thrilling read that goes back for years and ties into Murphy wife’s first husbands killing that everyone thought was an accident. As you first start to listen you think oh what a sweet wonderful cop and listen in horror as the action unfolds. The author skips ahead a few years and the book takes off leaving you with your mouth hung open thinking oh my Lord a time or two. The author gives you a ton of surprise along the way with some shocks as well. You will find monsters and still more monsters controlling everything from women to a career with one person behind it all trying to take the world on to get what they feel they deserve. As the end comes you will be left with shocks and surprises that will leave you with your mouth hung open.

Mr. McAllister I thought did a wonderful job with the character voices he really put emotion into them never leaving you guessing who was talking or what they were feeling. I thought his normal voice where he was just reading didn’t come across as easy or as natural as I thought it should. I did feel all in all he did a wonderful job at keeping me pulled in and entertained. You could really feel the emotions he put into the read. I did not hear any background noises or any places where the audio was higher or lower than any place else on the audio. If any breaks were taken I could not tell. I felt he gave a clear and clean listen that really pulls in the listener. His male voices were just as great as his females you had no trouble knowing who was talking or what they were feeling. I had no trouble picturing what the author wanted me to as he narrated the book. I do look forward to listening to more of his work.

The author gives you so many wonderful characters it is hard to pick my favorite. I would have to say my heart really went out to Cameron and Lizzy the most. Just wait until you meet Monica and the part she plays. Your heart may change on this little dear..that is all I can say. As the book takes off with 5 women dead and the why, who and what keeps you in surprise you are pulled in and left on the edge as more people’s lives are at stake you are left wondering who will be left a live if any. I loved the plot and the characters. The mystery was outstanding as well as the thrills and holding your breath to see what happens next.  As the mystery builds and suspense takes over it was an audio I couldn’t put down. I found things to do around the home so I could listen longer. This is filled with action never a dull minute as the chilling mystery unfold leaving you wanting to get your hands on one person for all he put so many through.  I had no trouble visualize the scenes as they came to life for me leaving me at times in shock at how far one person would go and what they would do. The title really fits this story it all started with a kill and run as the author takes you through the paces of one man and his career to get to the top. This book was really thought out giving the reader/listener a highly entertaining listen. I am so looking forward to more work from this author. If you love a little mystery, with lots of action and a little romance this is the thriller for you.

I have to say this kept me on my toes I was as confused as Nathaniel to why he was singled out as well as to how this all would come together. The author sure doesn’t give many clues but keeps your attention. The person who is the leader is surprising at one point I thought maybe and decided no that just doesn’t seem right.  The author hooks you from the start with action, killing, loss, pain as one man shoots up a wedding killing many and leaving Nathaniel hurt in more ways than one. As Nathaniel gets back on his feet there is a major shooting he is called in on leaving a few dead including the shooter.  The book is based around the shooters, a gun control bill and how it affects Nathaniel. All fingers and evidence are pointing to him as they bring him in holding him trying to get him to confess he is at a loss for words.  The reader is left guessing and torn whether to believe he is innocent or guilty.  You mind will be blown away as to who is in control and the why of it.

Mr. Summerer does a wonderful job of narration he really brings this audio to life with his many different character voices as well as the wonderful tones he uses to really pull you in making you a part of this listen. I had no trouble picturing the scenes as they unfold leaving me speechless at times. You have no trouble knowing who is talking and what they are feeling as the narrator gives you an action pack thrilling listen. There were no background noises or any places where the audio is higher or lower than the beginning of the last charter. If any breaks were taken you cannot tell. His female voices were just as wonderful as his males. His tones and emotions where right on the money leaving you with a wonderful clear audio that leaves you with your mouth hung open at times. The audio was clean, clear and crisp with true emotion being giving to each character. He really brought this audio to life for me making me feel a part of the book. I look forward to listening to more from this narrator.

My heart really went out to Nathaniel, his brother and sister-in-law from the first few pages. The author gives you such pain that you have to close your eyes for a few minutes and let it sink in. As the book takes off on the next chapter Nathaniel and his family still pull on your heart. More shooting and more killings that have no meaning unless it has to do with the bill a few want to get past. Fingers are pointing all over the place but they always come back to Nathaniel. When one thing happens there is little doubt to those in charge that Nathaniel is the one behind it. They leave him no choice but to make a run for it. As he tries to work out who is behind it all trying to clear his name he gets in one mess after another. At times it is touch or go whether he will make it out alive.

The author give you a wonderful plot that as it  plays out pulling you in with some wonderful scenes and events that is very vivid with detail that will make you hold your breath. Nothing really makes a lot of sense to the why until the end which will blow you way. I really never saw that coming and had mixed feelings at the outcome. It really all made sense at this point but leaves you feeling a little sad. The ending was great and I totally enjoyed the story which was very entertaining. I did not care for the last chapter or so that went into detail about the leader. I felt that was not needed and for me took away from the story and the impact of the ending. If not for that I would have given this 5 stars. What I did like was the action, thrills, and even a few chills that kept the book moving at a fast pace for me.  I found myself very invested and guessing to the outcome. The author does a wonderful job giving you the clues but keeping just enough held back to hold your interest. I thought it was really well written with a wonderful plot that plays out keeping you hooked until the end. I haven’t read anything by this author before and look very much into to reading/listening to more of his work.
