Sleeping With the Opposition

Sleeping With the Opposition (Bad Boy Bosses #3)
by J.K. Coi

My Review
Sleeping With the Opposition was a very emotional and heartfelt read with two people who are very much in love but loss something that was very important to them both. One wants a shoulder someone to talk to as they work it out along with having to be alone when something bad happens. She wants to be told what he is feeling and talks about if this had not happen what their life would have been like. He just bottles it all up inside as he uses boxing to work out his anger and guilt. He doesn’t want to bring her pain back, he must be strong, a man doesn’t show emotion or cry. By doing this he has lost the most important thing in his life.

Leo isn’t one to give up he would not have made it so far if he turn tail and ran every time something didn’t go his way. He doesn’t know the word and will fight to keep what is his. He is very much in love with his wife and it pains him to see her going through what she is. He tries so hard to be what she needs only what he thinks she needs isn’t what she needs at all. He puts forth a plan to win her back it isn’t that she doesn’t love him she does and he knows it. There is no way he will let his wife go.

Bria is dealing with their loss and wants Leo to work through the issues with her. Talk out their feelings, lean on each other, feel the pain together and move on. Only what she sees is a cold stone of a man who will not show his true feelings. All he said is it will be ok we can have others but what about what they loss can you really replace that. If he can’t be the man she needs through the bad times than he isn’t the man she wants through the good times. It is time to throw in the towel and walk away only he won’t he must win. This isn’t a game nor is she one of his court cases.

I really enjoyed this book there is a lot of pain, sorrow and sadness. When two people love each other as much as these two do you would think they could work out anything. The characters were very likeable along with being able to relate to and see both sides. At times you would like to shake them until they see what you do. I am sure more family can relate to this issue. I can’t even imagine it or how I would deal with it. This had a wonderful plot with wonderful characters. The supporting characters are outstanding none taking sides all pushing to help them find their way. You can feel the passion they have for each other and the pull they have. It isn’t easy to walk away from someone who can drive you wild just by a touch or a look.

I thought the author did a great job in making us feel the emotions. Your heart will break for these two as they travel down a road many couples have. They will need to back up and really talk and find away to deal with the issues before they can even think about getting back together.  It is an emotional read that I feel most people will enjoy.

To Seduce a SEAL

To Seduce a SEAL (Sin City SEALs #3)
by Sara Jane Stone

My Review
It took me a little while to get into this book, it has wonderful scenes with wonderful character who really heat it up in the love scenes. The ending is to die for along with the best first kiss ever. My mouth hung open when he grabbed her leg and wrapped it around his waist to show her how it was done. I picked this as one of my favorite reads for 2016. This has everything that makes a wonderful romance a good old country girl who is just trying to support her family who is getting over the loss of their brother/son who served with honors until he lost his life to the battle of war. A seal who is bored and out on medical leave when his buddy said why don’t you come with me to help protect a country singer. This will be one decision that will be the best and worst of his life and career. From the time their eyes meet there is a strong attraction, on the first touch their world explodes into passion that they forget where they are at and what they are doing.

Dante has a calming exciting way about him. With one touch he can bring one hot little lady to her knees. With one rub down he can relax the tightest muscles. One passionate might he can give you the most peaceful sleep you have had in years. WOW who wouldn’t want this dream Seal? There is no doubt that Dante is alpha and very much in control. One bad marriage behind him no way is he going to get hooked in to that trap again. That is until he sees one lady in the mountains who takes his breath away. When he finds out this is the lady he must protect he is floored. How in the world will he keep his hands off her and does he really want to. This is one man who will put his life on the line not only for his country but for the women he promised to protect at no cost. What it might cost him is his heart. This is one Seal that will never be the same again.

Chrissie has put her whole life and heart into giving her family more. They might have grown up poor but she refuses to give up on giving them a better life. She has one hit to her name and she refuses to be a one hit wonder. When a crazy fan places her under attack she has no choice but to call in the big guns to keep her safe. When one hot man steps in and protects her she finds she cannot take her eyes off him. Her mouth just about hits the floor when she finds out he is her bodyguard. How in the world is she suppose to keep her mind on the songs she needs to write, put on a show for her fans and keep her hands off this hunk of a man.

You have two people who have been hurt or wrong neither willing to put their heart on the line. You can feel the pull of these two right through the pages as their heart takes over their minds leaving two people torn from what they want and what they must do. The author has give you a very well put together plot with a wonderful writing style that keep you invested in the story. I am sure that anyone reading this would gladly trade places with Chrissie. The author puts a few twists in that will tear at your heartstrings. There are times I would have loved to have shaken them both. The supporting characters are cute, wonderful and supportive. Chrissie parents have a hard time dealing with issues which tears at Chrissie heart. She just wants to bring her family back together giving them everything they need. When you reach ¾ of the way through this makes the story until the end you are torn between the issues, losing love and wondering what they will do. The author puts a smile on your face and than almost brings you to tears only to make you smile again.  This is the first time I have read anything by this author, I can’t wait to read more. I totally loved this story. This isn’t your normal love story but so much more.

Heart Healer (Heart Healer #1)

Heart Healer (Heart Healer #1)
by Leslie Bowes

My Review
I found this to be an interesting read a little different from most time travel stories.  One man’s wife walked out the door never to be seen again. One lady is more or less sold to a man as his wife who is her worse nightmare. The store is full of pain and sorrow. As life turns around a gives them hope it is ripped from them again.

Catherine is a wonderful sweet lady who gives so much of herself.  Life has not treated her good since her mother’s death with her father leaving her to raise her brother. On his return after a few years he brings home a man and tells her she will be his slave until she works off his debt. Blake turns the tables and said no she will marry me. Catherine isn’t happy about this but there is little she can do. On getting to his home he becomes abusive and something happens to make her run in return she turns up in 2014. Christopher finds her and their journey begins.

Christopher isn’t you run of the mill hero he is all the things we have learned to love in a man. You will find no alpha here just a sweet loving caring man that puts his family first. He was broken when his wife left him. He picked up the pieces and the life of a scared little boy and makes it a life worth living. He was a true father and mother to his son who he loved dearly. In a time where it is easier to but your child second he puts him first. One night when he hears his name being called he runs outside to find the most beautiful women he has ever seen. From that moment on she was his and he would do anything to protect her and keep her safe as he shows her what true love is.

I thought this had a wonderful plot with some wonderful characters. The only one I really didn’t like was Blake he was totally out of his mind. The author gives you great supporting characters with a story that has many twists to it. There were a few things that didn’t work for me I didn’t see her father giving up his son so easy or her reaction to Christopher at first. I thought a time or two Blake stepped out of character that the author gave him. I really did like the plot and the characters along with the love story. As far as I can tell this is the first story this author has published and for a first novel it isn’t bad at all. If you are looking for a different kind of romance one the author put her heart and soul into this would be a good one to pick up. I do look forward to reading more from her and watching her grow her talent.

My Review
Nothing is worse than never being able to forgive yourself for something you did that if you knew back than how it would turn out you wouldn’t have done it. Nick is living his life with a haunting past that he moved miles away to out run. He might have run but he still can’t forget or forgive as the nightmares haunt him every time he closes his eyes. Everyone in town sees Nick as a wonderful guy nothing special just a normal guy until he runs into a burning building to save a child. Things just aren’t adding up now they want to write up a story of the new town hero but he is hiding out not wanting anything published. People start thinking he must have something to hide. When his old love walks into the bar he is shocked she left him without a word. He finds out she only wants a story but he still wants her and some answers. He will not give in to her or to have the story written. This is when things get interesting with some hot passion that two old loves can’t walk away from. These two normal people are both hiding a secret and neither is willing to tell.

The narrator did a good job on the narration she was very easy to listen to with a wonderful voice. There were no high or low levels or any background noise. Her male characters were as good as her female ones. She puts a lot of energy and emotion into the audio giving you a wonderful listen. You know who is talking and what they are feeling as Ms. Hatfield weaves the story the author has given I could hear the pain and sorrow in her voice along with the anger and passion. This was really at times a heartbreaking story that the narrator delivers leaving you almost in tears. This is the first time I have listen to her and look forward to more of her audios.

This is a story that broke my heart as to old loves come together one needing a big story to move up in her job. The other wanting everyone to leave him alone to carry on just putting in time trying to forget. When Nick sees Ava his past comes flying back he can’t tell her. What would she think of him if she knew what he had done? Seeing Nick again Ava doesn’t know what to do she is outrunning her past as well. She knows Nick will never forgive her for leaving but she must try to make him understand. He only sees she wants a story, his story to move up in the world. Why his world is falling apart she is moving on he has a hard time dealing with this. When both of their stories come out I just want to cry it is so sad, so painful. Both of them will have to make some tough choices, they will have to learn to deal with the past. As they carrying on they lean on each other and find no matter how bad things are it is always better when you have someone to help carry the pain. Now they have to work through it, help each other face their issues to find out what is the most important thing in their lives before time runs out and the whole world knows what they have done or had done to them.

The author put a lot of care in writing this story she puts many twists and turns once they unfold will break your heart. I doubt you can read/listen to this and not have some strong emotions. I adore these characters along with the supporting ones. I didn’t think too much of Ava’s boss that man should have been run out of town. Both Nick and Ava are strong people much strong then they think. Nick must go home to face a lot of people he let down in one way or another. The author gives a compelling story that reaches in to your soul as she grabs your heart and squeezes it. I have not read/listen to this whole series but this story makes me want to pick up each one and let the author take me away with her touching passionate writing. This was an audio I had trouble putting down I need to know what each one was hiding. It is a very touching read with a wonderful outstanding ending that I never saw coming. I hope you will pick this up and give it a read you won’t be disappointed.
