One Night Stand

One Night Stand (The Martin Family #1)
by Parker Kincade

It’s a great story with a little of everything along with some very hot sexy controlling men who won’t take no for an answer and women who won’t give in easy. There is a story inside a story that holds your interest and sets up the next book in the series that I am looking forward to reading. The author gives you some very hot heated scenes along with some suspense, a touch of humor that will have you laughing.

Amanda just can’t seem to find the right men in or out of bed.  The last little cheat has her running for the hills taking some much needed times for her self. She stops in a bar for a drink which leads to two men that decide she is going to be their desert. Having three older brothers who taught her how to take care of herself leads to a very entertaining fight where Amanda shows her moves breaking the dudes nose. Things do not end there when the bars owner walks in and is taken back by this sexy, smart mouth tornado. She puts the moves on him and he takes her up on it.  One night is not enough as they get wild and kinky, along comes some unwanted company which leads to an exciting fun read. There are misunderstandings between these two both scared and unsure of the other. Each say things they do not mean but all that changes when Amanda is pulled into danger which leaves her life hanging in the balance. Can Joe get to her in time, can Amanda stand her ground and hold her own?

Amanda finds Joe controlling, sexy and her cup of tea. Joes finds her sexy and has no trouble finding her something to do with that smart mouth of hers.  He has some fast talking to do when her brothers step in trying to take their little sister back home. It is one heck of a standoff when you have two alpha males in the room.

The romance is hot and melts right of the pages. The suspense is interesting holding your attention, the characters are hot, alpha and very hot tempted which is really a turn on when you look at the whole package.  I can hardly wait to read the story of her older brother and her best friend. I do believe it is going to be a hot exciting read. I don’t think you will be bored reading this it is very erotic to the point it becomes a trust issue. How much does Amanda trust Joe, will she do the erotic things he wants.  I really liked Amanda and her friend both are very sassy independent women trying to make it in a very alpha world. Neither is giving an inch and are making their own demands. The cockiness between the characters is such fun the author really has outdone herself with the smooth way it is delivered.  I would have liked to have seen more background which would pull the reader in more.  The story moves fast and easy, giving an exciting read. I totally enjoyed it.

Dax (Bad Boys of Willow Valley #1)

Dax (Bad Boys of Willow Valley #1)
by Shannyn Leah

I loved this book it grabs your heart making it feel warm and fuzzy and then breaks it only to go back to the warm and fuzzy again. I loved Rowdy he was so much fun, loved his humor and the way he saw through Ava and his son. Dax is a hot mess he really knows what he wants but is afraid to give his heart in case he loses the love of his life like his father did. What is there not to love about the man, he is smart mouth, funny, tough, he is sex on a stick that any women would love to get a hold of.  Ava has had a hard life but as worked very hard to put her past behind her. She had a child at a young age and stepped right up to the plate making a wonderful life for them. Rowdy was there when she needed help the most and stepped into the father and grandfather roll. I just adored this family and all they stand for.

The author gives you a delightful story of romance with the dance that is old as time one step forward to steps back but as the song said nobody gets to far like that, this kind of dance can never last. Something or someone one will have to give or be broken before these two can work out what they rest of the world already knows. It is such a shame that so much has to be lost before these two face the facts that they should be together.  When the tragedy strikes we the reader feel it all the way to our toes leaving us with big tears in our eyes wondering what the fall out will be. The author puts one heck of a twist on it but be prepared this will not be the first twist that will thow you for a loop. This is one author that knows how to grab your heart, rip it out and puts it back together again only to do it all over again.

What made this a 5 star read for me was the humor, teasing, heartbreak, love and the care they give to their family. All stand up and together fighting the wars as they come but with each new block they pull together making an unbeatable team. The way the book starts out with the teasing which gets a little out of hand really pulls the reader in making us smile and laugh as Rowdy walks in with his brand of humor that really gets us going. Olivia steals your heart acting so grow up but at the same time keeping her childhood innocents. She makes you smile and laugh at the things she does and said. How can you not love Charlie and all he means? He plays a big part right up to the end. The friends of Dax add so much to the read from one not thinking before he talks to the other trying to make him shut up. Bucky’s Bar is a delight from the trouble Dax gets in to the delightful things that happen there. The owner is just so full of his self you have to laugh.

There was only one character I didn’t care for and I am still unsure how he worked out who Olivia was from the youtube video. I would have liked to have known just what happen to him in detail from the trouble he caused. The author doesn’t go into detail on these issues and I felt more detail was needed.  I also would have liked to have know more about Olivia and Kevin what he said to her and how she took finding things out. Beside that I totally was hook on this book and couldn’t put it down. I loved how the romance builds with each of them stepping around the issue to how head strong both were. When they do come together you can feel the fire come right off the pages. I liked how the author build the story around the firehouse, how it was hard to go back and just how each member was made to face the issues. It was a great story from start to finish and one I will read again. Lot of fun, heartbreak, learning and facing the past and the future makes this a win, win read for me. You can pre order this for just 99 cents. I can promise you it is well worth that and more.

Summary
Dax Colyn is one of the bad boys of Willow Valley. A fearless volunteer firefighter and hard ass mechanic, he makes all the woman swoon and he likes it that way. He keeps people at a distance since his mother died. He doesn’t want to let anyone in, much less a woman he knows he could fall in love with.

Ava Anderson keeps people away, too. Haunted by her tortured past and constantly fearful of the future, it’s only her daughter Olivia and Dax’s dad Rowdy that she’s let in.

But when tragedy strikes, it pushes Dax and Ava together, forcing them both to let go of their fears. They soon learn how hard it is to keep pretending and how easy it is to let others in. Especially when those people are family.

“Dax” is the first in the “Bad Boys of Willow Valley” series from author Shannyn Leah.

Started out good but went downhill fast. Way too much filler that really had nothing to do with the plot. One minute we are listening to what is going on and the next we are back in her college days where she didn’t go out much. After a little while the story just moved to slow. She married her childhood sweetheart but years later after the kids come it turns out he is gay. They stayed friends which I thought was great. This part was great. Then we go into a girl and guy live together he is a drunk they split which he is fine with until she finds a man from her past who steps up to the plate than ex wants her back and really is childlike. At times I thought her kids acted older than the adults. I even like how the boy from high school came back into her life with a complete makeover.

Ms. Ramay narrator for the most part was good, there are some noises with her mouth and breathing that needs some work. At times it just all ran together for me and was a little confusing until I took a break and went over what I had listened to. She puts lot of emotion into her voice and tones but needs to pause a little more between characters to let the listener catch up. Anna character was great with lots of emotions but at times she seemed more childlike. A lot of her character voices sound too much alike and too much like her natural voice which can be confusing to know who is talking. When the character is thinking the narrator should do a little change so you know it is thinking it gets confusing when she switches from thinking to talking so close together. There are no background noises, no repeating of words and no volume changes. If any breaks were taken I could not tell. It is a clean and clear audio that just needs a little more work. For the most part the emotions displayed were outstanding.

The plot is great but with so much filler that isn’t needed the reader is lost wondering why the heck that was even added to the book. I loved the relationship the parents had with the children, I loved the humor and teasing between all. I enjoyed the story of the fat man turning into a hunk, the close relationship the two parents had and the romance between Anna and Kiran. To me the trip they took to India wasn’t needed nothing really happened but they hooked up, met his family and a few other little things. To me it was just filler. I did like the background, the family values and the love and care they gave to their families. All in all it was an enjoyable listen has some great parts.

Summary

Anna has never been the beautiful one; she's always been the nice one. So when the gorgeous man sitting across the table at a wedding reception remembers her from high school - and quite fondly at that - she's taken off guard.

Formerly overweight and unpopular, Kiran has never forgotten Anna, the one person who was kind to him when no one else could be bothered, and Anna's a bit flustered as she slowly comes to grips with his intense attraction for her.

In what feels like a romantic dream come true, all-grown-up, hunky Kiran invites Anna on a trip to Varanasi. But her troubled, whack-a-do ex-boyfriend starts interfering, creating drama at every turn, which begs the question, can nice girls really finish first?

Defending Hannah: A Delta Force Defenders

Defending Hannah: A Delta Force Defenders Novel
by Jennifer Becker

There is a lot going on between the pages of this book, just when you think nothing else can happen, the author throws a twist you just don’t see coming.  The plot is great, the characters are fun, it is filled with action with a lot going on.  I can promise you there is no way you will work out who is behind all this until the author is ready to hand that information over.

Ben and Hannah grew up together each had a crush on the other but neither did anything about it. Just when things were about to gets hot and heavy Ben left running as fast as he could. Fast forward years later he is on a mission to stop terrorist, get intel and get the hostage and bring them back alive.  From the start this is one big mess, things are too easy and then get very complex.  When he see the women from his past he is shocked but doesn’t have time to work it all out. They must get to the office, get the women out before all hell breaks loose.  One thing leading to another, they find someone has set them up. Can they get what they came for and get the women out without losing their lives?

I really liked the characters of the delta force they are very alpha, kicking tail and not taking any names but very gentle when it comes to the women they find there. Ben is very protective and it doesn’t take long for Hannah to mean the world to him. He is very caring and loving that is until someone messes with what is his. Hannah is very strong but she would have had to have been to be able to live through what she has. The author never really goes into deal but gives you enough that you have no doubt what this women has went through.

I really liked the characters and the plot. I did find a few places that were a little confusing. The drugs were in the women but the author didn’t really say where. I didn’t get the feeling they were ingested through the mouth. The author said they went back to Hannah place when it wasn’t her place but Ben’s. Just a few little things like that which made me do a doubt take.  For the most part it was an easy read. One that does pull you in with excitement, thrills and a few breath holding moments.  I was lost into a world of terrorist, selling women and drug on the black market from the first page until the last I was hooked. I really enjoy the read which was very exciting and dangerous. The thrills kept me on a high but at times I did hold my breath waiting hoping and praying they would get out alive. The ending is kind of just cut off with them in love and going back to take care of business. This is where book 2 will pick up but for me it was a little fast and not enough information give for that Happy Ever After. It was a good read that I enjoyed very much.

It just so happens the only woman who has attracted him in a long time is blonde. Oh great another woman for his grandmother to find a match for.  No way no how is this going down.

What’s a girl to do but swallow her bride and give in? They still fight the attraction as they butt heads, she has no plans to move and he wants a ranch. They see no way for their relationship to work out.

I have read one other book in this multi-authored series all are clean sweet reads filled with romance, drama, a few shocks, humor and so much more.  All the characters are well developed, very likable, and down to earth.  Granny is just so sweet wonderful character I feel in love with her from the start. Both are  a little smart mouth that leads to some fun laughs for me. The buildup of the story is smooth, fun but all is not fun and games when it comes time to go home. I found it hard to put down and stayed up when I should have been in bed. I did feel there was a few places it moved a little too fast for me but I totally enjoyed the read. Sweet clean romance that keeps you smiling and laughing what else could you want.

Summary
Navy Richards is thirty-five years of tired--tired of dating the same men, working a demanding job, and getting her heart broken over and over again. Her aunt has always spoken highly of the matchmaker in Bride, Texas, and Navy knows the legends of the statue there like the back of her hand.

So she takes a six-month sabbatical from her high-stress job as a pediatric nurse, hops on a bus with a ticket to Bride, and dances around the statue of Ellora Shepherd the very night she arrives. The next day, she meets with the matchmaker and then meets her grandson, Gavin Redd. He's handsome, he's hardworking, and he's a cowboy. But is he an Aquarius too? Navy's not making a move until she knows for sure.

Gavin hates everything about the legend of Bride. The statue. The stupid bus station. The blondes who come to town believing in such ridiculous things. As if a silly dance and a simple visit with his eighty-three-year-old grandmother are going to help a woman find a man.

So maybe he's had his heart broken a time or two. Or five. Or maybe he's too focused on caring for his grandparents to date. Or maybe, just maybe, he needs a little bit of the Bride magic to make him realize that just because Navy believes in the legends he hates doesn't mean she's not the one for him. Can Gavin and Navy navigate their differences to discover they could be a perfect match?
